UMass looked pretty good today for their first game in over a year. Offense was a little off but the D was great and Knote was decent in goal.

I’m not sure Trainor left the field for more than five minutes the whole game playing two-way middie. He’s good defensively but looked really gassed by games end. Not sure I’d play him two ways that much. He is much too important to the Gorilla offense. But I’m glad that nobody ever asks for my advice. I hate UMass.

Connelly is one of the toughest most fearless attackman out there. Definitely the most underrated attackman in the CAA. The whole team plays with such an edge. And that was the difference today.

It matters very little,

but Hofstra, Delaware, UMass all in this week’s
top 10-20 rankings poll.

A liitle bit of hype doesn’t hurt.

One key is they put that ginormous freshman attackman
as starting attack, moving Devin Spencer to midfield.

Radio silence from Dutch, as one would expect.

But, the Towson game has been rescheduled to a
mid-week game, and so far, no cancellation of the
Syracuse game.

I doubt all of these cancellations in conference are rescheduled.
Live Stats are still up from the game,

They were not up Sunday morning. Both schools showing donuts on all stats.
10 shots on goal for Delaware in the 1st qtr. 1 save by Drexel, and 6 goals were unassisted in the 1st qtr. The goalie took a nap in the first qtr. Difficult to recover from that deficit.

Stats don't tell the story. You should really watch the replay before calling out Blumenthal for taking a nap. Almost every goal was uncontested inside 8 yards. Blame the embarrassing one on one defense and really late slides. Blumenthal had no shot.

So it was 9-1 UD in the first. 10 shots were on goal, you have 1 save as a goalie..... and I’m calling him out? What are we supposed to say? It’s really ok, exhale. The poor start was significant part of the outcome. It was his second game... plenty of time to get back on track.

I was just suggesting that if you didn't watch the game, the stats don't show how little help he had in goal. And I don't really need to exhale because I don't really care. I am not a Blumenthal family member or supporter. The poor start was a team problem. Not a goalie problem. And yes it is tough to recover from 9-1.

I’d have taken Blumenthal out.
But the Drexel coaches want you to work through it.

Hens came out fired up. Charlie Kitchen is a tremendous
leader, his contributions don’t show on the stat sheet.

From the season-opening loss to closer-than-expected wins vs. Saint Joe’s and Bellarmine, fans would rightly have been slow to warm to the Blue Hens his season.
The team that came out of the gate firing vs. Drexel, however, looked to me like a team that can win an
NCAA Tournament game. Defenseman Owen Grant
looks like a future pro, as does Michael Robinson —
but what stood out from the win vs. the Dragons was
the depth of scoring, particularly the role that
Cam Acchione and Mark Bieda played. Their top six
is really scary.

I’ll say it again, this was a great move, putting Bieda
on the same line with the freshman twins, Bieda providing
the level-headed leadership, freeing up the twins to
just play.

That’ll be three full weeks break.
Great way to stall any momentum which the Pride
definitely had.
Hope they clear up any remaining issues in time
for Fairfield.

When Shawn Nadelen met members of the Towson
men’s lacrosse team Friday morning about an hour
after he had learned that Saturday’s home game
against Hofstra had been postponed by coronavirus
issues within the latter’s program
Sounds like someone on the team.
