Re: Cornell 2020
The Hobart v Cornell game was snowed out for the originally scheduled game.. The on campus (Hobart) rumor was it s supposed to be rescheduled for late April but, typical CNY weather happened, and we had more snow. It set up the March'78 match-up that was featured in Sports Illustrated. The ONLY regular season game to be feature in SI.

I haven't read the entire list, but seven is the largest number we've had in quite some time.laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 2:39 pm Seven Big Red players were named Maverik Media All Americans including Jeff Teat & Jonathan Donville on the 2nd team, Brandon Salvatore on the 3rd team & Honorable Mention: Gavin Adler, Connor Fletcher, Sam Duggan and John Piatelli. Hey, Ivy League get with it. Sowers dropped out of school so he wouldn't be a graduate student next spring. Is that what you want? The aforementioned trio could do the same. But exactly how does preventing them from graduating and going to graduate school while also playing lacrosse together next spring further the Ivy League's celebrated academic standards?laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:42 am Hoping to hear similar news from at least Jeff Teat, Connor Fletcher & Brandon Salvatore. http://fanlax.com/fanlax/2020/03/31/d1- ... n-in-2021/
If these young men want to play college lacrosse next year but can't do it at their current institution, they need to know now so they can apply elsewhere. And if the only way they can play in Ithaca next year is by following Sowers and dropping out now, they need to know that too. And if they can play as graduate students in Ithaca next year, they need to apply now. There's no logic that protects academic integrity that doesn't make the exception due to extenuating circumstances and lets them play as graduate students next spring.

In discussing the transition of Dave Pietramala, US Lacrosse Magazine states that he is the only person to win a national championship as both a player and a coach.
While this may be true in the NCAA era (although I'm not sure), it's noteworthy that Cornell's Head
Men's Lacrosse Coach Emeritus, Richie Moran, played on the 1959 University of Maryland National Championship Team and also coached NCAA championship teams in 1971, '76 and '77.

The Hill Academy will be streaming Jeff Teat at 8PM live on Instagram tonight. I assume that it will be just aimed at young fans. I wonder if he will discuss 2021. He will be taking questions.

I'm on now. It's a great "lacrosse interest" interview going from his earliest lacrosse to Cornell. They are up to his early Cornell career. A great listen for someone coaching, looking to play DI lacrosse or being a lacrosse parent. I'll post again when it's over.ChairmanOfTheBoard wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:29 pmanyone tune in?faircornell wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:07 pm The Hill Academy will be streaming Jeff Teat at 8PM live on Instagram tonight. - Early years, an interesting look into Canadian lacrosse culture
- Coming to Cornell, committing early to Cornell
- Transitioning from box to field lacrosse and Canadian style to US style lacrosse (playing at X vs GLE vs "up top")
- Hill Academy high school and PG year (it was interesting some of the US teams that the Hill played and some of the current college stars)
- Developing both hands as a Canadian Box player
- Being the youngest player on Team Canada 2018
- The importance of consistency in his game
- The importance of executing simple plays well vs attempting "fancy plays" and taking risks
- Deciding whether to distribute the ball or go to the cage
- Pre-game, making sure the stick is throwing and shooting well
- A lot of focus in teamwork and humility
A great video to watch for young players, parents of lacrosse players or youth coaches. The questions mentioned on the call came from Hill Academy alums, Cornell alums and Team Canada coaches. It looked like the live stream had about 100 viewers.
Re: Cornell 2020
Far be it from me to speculate on his behalf, but considering that he took a PG year before he went to Cornell, and that most Canadian guys love and want to play box above all else, I don't think he's going to come back next year. Would love to see him return, he's been one of the most fun guys to watch over the last few years, but think he's moving on.
