Excellent news.
What, you and 6ft, and Tech37 and Peanut Butters all agreed it was fake news?youthathletics wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:49 pm You missed the tearing apart of that article this morning.
Wrong, we just drew attention to the partisan bs. As you read further, even the author starts waffling. Unlike Crenshaw....who paints the timeline and shows how you use real-time dates with real time events taking place.jhu72 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 9:14 pmWhat, you and 6ft, and Tech37 and Peanut Butters all agreed it was fake news?youthathletics wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:49 pm You missed the tearing apart of that article this morning.

When I drove my wife to BWI on Jan 18 for her flight to FL, I told her I was glad we had a car down there because she'd probably need to drive back home, ...which she did, a month later.
I began social distancing & avoilding public gatherings as soon as the first case popped in the US.
Ummm.....NOt....dispatchers, janitors......parking meter maids........not really considered "cops" per se. And, again....ALL of them unhealthy.a fan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 2:22 pmThat's like saying that someone who died because they were shot in the head didn't count as dying from a bullet to the head "because they were fat, and they would have died anyways".runrussellrun wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 2:05 pm You promised NOT to do this.
The research I have done, regarding the dead NY cop.......diabetes, hypertension.....obese.
I can provide a source. How about YOUR claim, that a healthy cop died......HEALTHY......we will wait and wait. and wait.
Healthy as in: if they didn't get the Coronavirus, they wouldn't be freaking dead. Why are you so desperate to pretend that this virus isn't killing people?
In any event, from the exact same source you just cited yourself, the NYPost.....which means YOU think the source is solid.
22 NYPD dead. And that was eight days ago.
https://nypost.com/2020/04/13/nypd-lose ... ronavirus/
HEALTHY.......my point, as it's always been....is the v-19 is killing UN-well, UNhealthy....people. Don't care that they.calourie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 2:37 pm So R3 points to a NYPost article from March 28 pointing out 3 NYPD deaths as of that date, and fan comes back with an article form the same source on April 13 pointing out 22 NYPD deaths as of that date. Are we still going to go with the "fear porn" moniker given that disturbing increase in mortality to NY policepeople or do the facts suggest a need for a less jingoistic phrasing of the issue?
Don Q tilting another strawman windmill. You want every American to understand history as you depict it.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:02 pm
BS. I want every American to understand the history of the Civil War and slavery and Jim Crow in the United States.
It's the whitewashing of that history I don't want to see happen. Which is what you get when you go into some museums in the South, with euphemisms that sugar coat the horrors of slavery and Jim Crow. They like to talk about the 'sacrifices' made by white southerners to the Cause, brave 'heroes'...
Tell us, Salty, what aspects of the Confederacy are worthy of admiration rather than stigma?
Then tell us how slavery really wasn't so bad and there really wasn't a reign of terror during Jim Crow.
You talking about the 60 minutes piece, where Navarro's challenge was simple:CU77 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:59 pm That news clip was posted on Jan.24. At that point, the truth is known. And many in the Trump admin, including Peter Navarro, understood at that point. (Though Navarro, being a trumpista through and through, then lied about it on 60 Minutes last week.)
See David Frum's column in the Atlantic (I posted a link in the O.D. thread) to understand the Trump's admin's actual strategy going forward.
What does your knowledge of Shermans March to the Sea tell you? If your a Yankee like me, he has always been a hero. If you are a southerner whose family members and non combatants suffered through the carnage of the march, Sherman was a war criminal. He skirted the edges of his authority and his men acted more like an out of control mob than a disciplined army. War is hell and Gen Sherman sure proved that. Right or wrong Gen Shermans crusade through the south has never been forgotten and never been forgiven all these years later by the folks of the south. The end justifies the means as the saying goes.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:43 am more black hole ranting.
I can't tell whether your issue is the word 'south' about where such museums are because there are indeed 'glorifications' outside of the Deep South or whether you are arguing as to whether such 'glorifications' are appropriate.
Not sure I care what you are ranting about.
Took a bike ride through Gettysburg a couple of years ago, but last time on a tour was when my son was in middle school, so maybe a dozen years ago. So what.
I'm not a Civil War buff. wouldn't claim any special expertise, but I have read a lot of history and certainly in my educational era in Baltimore and with family throughout the south had quite a lot of exposure.
Brutal, and by our standards of warfare today, yes, criminal.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:58 amWhat does your knowledge of Shermans March to the Sea tell you? While stretching yesterday in the public park, overheard the conversation of 3 people. Talking about the value of education. How UN-educated people are hurting society. Other elitist nonsense.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:33 pmhttps://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 114753.htma fan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:28 pmUS intel has the exact numbers of dead? And the IC knew. And Trump knew.
I'd wager they don't.
And yes, we ALL assumed they are lying. But again: in what world does that give them a pass?
And again, if it was a EU nation reporting the real carnage in real time, with real media cameras? I believe that would have been ENORMOUSLY helpful. Its really difficult to picture what a pandemic looks like....
Agree to disagree. Let's move on...
Smart people had been anticipating something like this. We were slow to react. Lots of reasons why.
