False. New policies introduced by DeJoy include cessation of overtime, "work to rule" policies such as not picking up mail from boxes on a route once the time allotted for pickup has ended, etc etc etc.

It is these policies that are causing the backups.
Has that overtime policy gone into effect yet ? "work to rule" = picking up & delivering the mail on time.

Have the proposed rule changes been approved & implemented yet ?

Covid sick days & isolating contacts + increased covid package volume are causing the delays.

If you don’t own a car and aren’t willing to walk a couple of likes, you don’t deserve to vote

how do they get food? to work in normal times? get anything over the course of a month? does that really make sense to you?

there are 142,000 boxes and over 30,000 post offices, and who knows how many other drop off locations.
here's the 5 years prior to the last election... 12,000 boxes in 5 years. why would they do that?
https://www.uspsoig.gov/blog/where-have ... boxes-gone

how many boxes were planned to be eliminated in the next several months and how many were in the last several years?

Meals on Wheels. May be disabled.... Maybe family brings food. Maybe old and retired. A car and a job are prerequisites to vote in the USA? I worked Meals on Wheels one summer. Change the system November 5th.....what do they have to lose? My wife handles all the mail for my mother in law. Closest mailbox is over 1 mile away. We take food up to her and her brother checks in on her once a week. My wife just got back from the 2.5 hour drive for a 30 minute tele-checkup with a doctor. She is voting by mail. We will drive 2.5 hours to mail it. The mail box that was 2 blocks away is gone and the post office has been shut down.

Not sure if notice is being given and I know for a fact they were not being taken out with a virus spreading 85 days before an election. Not sure if we were also taking out sorting machines at the same time and cutting hours. What is the rush?

Seems like we would want to make it easy to vote in a national election but I am an idealist....some people call it naive....(some worse  )

For those of you claiming it's all just routine, the point is WHICH boxes are being removed, HOW they were chosen, and WHY.

Trump and his enabling minions (which certainly include the MAJOR DONOR he installed as head of USPS) are WELL AWARE of voting patterns, and certainly know which boxes to remove to tilt the vote as much as possible.

You can claim, without evidence, that that's NOT what they're doing, even though Trump attacks mail voting at every opportunity, and has EXPLICITLY STATED that he wants to defund the Post Office to prevent it!

I believe the sabotage of the Post Office is DELIBERATE, because Trump has said so. I take him both LITERALLY and SERIOUSLY on this.

That’s one of the things about Trump. It sounds so crazy people don’t believe it yet he is serious. Dude on record for saying he would accept help from Russia and he did just that....People still don’t believe it.

no one's claiming anything.
maybe you are. i simply was asking what the evidence was.
i guess we'll never know bc the post office guy said they wouldn't be doing anything. so all's good.

No, it's not "all good".

DeJoy has ALREADY removed many mailboxes and sorting machines, deliberately slowing things down, as Trump has told us he wants to do. Is DeJoy going to restore them?

Here is a thread on veterans whose prescriptions were screwed up by Trump's sabotage of the Constitutionally mandated US Postal Service:

Seeds of Another Civil War

Post by DocBarrister »

From The NY Times:

Here is a sentence I never in a million years thought that I would ever write or read: This November, for the first time in our history, the United States of America may not be able to conduct a free and fair election and, should President Trump be defeated by Joe Biden, have a legitimate and peaceful transfer of power.

Because if half the country thinks their votes were not fully counted due to deliberate sabotaging of the U.S. Postal Service by this administration, and if the other half are made to believe by the president that any mail-in vote for Biden was fraudulent, that would not result in just a disputed election — not another Bush v. Gore for the Supreme Court to sort out — that would be the end of American democracy as we know it. It also isn’t hyperbole to say it could sow the seeds of another Civil War.

The threat is real.

Covid sick days & isolating contacts + increased covid package volume are causing the delays.
You have to remember the continuum here. The USPS handles literally millions upon millions of mailpieces every day irrespective of changes in overall seasonal daily volume. The reason they do the overtime to clear the floor of mail every day is there is a ton of new mail that comes in subsequently every night. So if you leave it you create essentially a permanent backlog that eventually, depending on daily volume, that you never clear of that takes up space in your facilities and then clearing it further delays incoming mail. This illustrates the risk of bringing in a "business" expert to handle essentially a public service function. The problem is exacerbated when you also can all the USPS staff who understand this and replace them with same type of otherwise clueless business "experts".

As we have seen over time - running government is not like running business - prima facie evidence of this is the DOPUS. It is a double whammy as he managed to bankrupt his private business multiple times. Replicating this with your pals and donors only multiplies the incompetence.

Also contract rates for package delivery and bulk mail are required by statute to be profitable before you can finalize a volume special rate so the DOPUS lie that they lose money on Amazon is fiction. The reality of this is that large bulk mailers often sort and deliver mail to carrier location already sorted in carrier route sequence so the USPS can delver the "last mile". If the backup occurs here, there is literally no place to store/sage the backlog and, hence, another reason for the OT rule to clear it every day.

Get used to hearing the name "Byron Donalds" a ton.

Byron is a rock-ribbed conservative who just won the Republican primary for FL's 19th district, and he'll easily win election the House since the district is 70-30 Republican to Democrat.

The best part...click the link.

https://www.byrondonalds.com/about

He's black. From a single mom in Brooklyn household. Dude holds his own in any debate with any lib he's encountered. Solid on facts and personal life story. Assuming no Democratic chicanery, Byron will eventually run for POTUS.

Libs are crying tears this morning. This guy is the real deal. Doesn't want pity, just wants to protect American values.

r' trying to stop more USA Citizens from staying safe and voting!

Trump campaign sues New Jersey over mail-in voting
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5 ... -in-voting

Get this new justification:

Justin Clark, Trump’s deputy campaign manager, wrote in an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal that New Jerseyans "who want to vote in person face a real threat that their ballots won’t be counted.”

Now if you vote in person your votes don't count???

First of all, the DNC doesn't pick anyone. Same for the RNC. The primary voters do the picking in both parties.

Second, there were some inspiring D candidates: Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Would you have been happier with one of them instead of Biden?
Sure the DNC doesn't "pick" the winners and losers.
But they certainly stack the deck.

Good, the GOP desperately needs more diversity.

Presumably Trump tweeted out congrats to him the way he did the looney tunes Islamphobe who just won the GOP primary in his own district where Mar-A-Lago is?

Trump is a moron.

Any politician who understands optics would have Byron out front and center this morning as their #1 photo today. Eventually someone will tell Trump but, yes I agree, it's scary he doesn't understand or his advisors don't understand. Byron doesn't need help to win now, but it would help the Republican Party to see a face like his. A lot of us locals in SWFL really put our hearts and souls into this race.

Loomer will lose anyway since the district she's in is heavily Democratic. Byron will win easily since the district he's in is heavily Republican.
