At Davos Trump just downplayed the brain injuries suffered by soldiers in the Iranian missile attack. Headaches they had, he said. Nothing as severe as a bone spur on an ankle.

More alternative facts from Davos -
Trump said that the American economy was in "a dismal state" when he inherited it in 2017
Average number of jobs added during BHO's 2nd term - 2,588,750 per year
Average number of jobs added under Trump's 1st term - 2,179,667 per year
and that US wealth inequality was tossed into the dustbin of history.
The gap between the richest and poorest widened in 2018 and widened further in 2019. Median household income has reached an all time high at just over $63k....about the same it was two decades ago adjusted for inflation. The middle class is losing ground.
and the economy now is "the greatest" in US history.
Trump predicted 4%+...haven't seen 3%. Also will pay off debt and yet it's up trillions.
He also asserted that he "saved" historically black colleges and universities
Trump signed a law to permanently restore funding...the majority of R's in the house voted against the law.
the USMCA and the "Phase One" US-China trade agreement - were "the biggest ever made."
TPP, had DOPUS stayed in it, would have constituted 40% of global trade.

I'm shocked that the President of the United States doesn't have his facts straight. Worrisome.

"The Trump Administration’s Questionable Email Practices
From Nikki Haley’s use of a non-classified email system for classified communications to the extensive use of personal email accounts for official business on the part of White House Senior Adviser Ivanka Trump, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and former VA Secretary David Shulkin, the Trump administration has supplied numerous examples of officials who seem to have forgotten that the rules apply to them, too.

After the amount of attention paid during the 2016 presidential election to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails, it should be clear to government officials that classified information should be handled carefully, and that the use of private email and messaging apps for government business is not allowed.

The Federal Records Act requires that all government-related documents and correspondence be preserved, and if an official uses a private account for communication they must forward the content to their government account. But that message doesn’t seem to have reached multiple Trump administration officials, from cabinet members like Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to members of President Donald Trump’s family like Ivanka Trump.

In November 2018, the Washington Post reported that the president’s oldest daughter had used a personal email account for official work on hundreds of occasions — a fact White House officials discovered after American Oversight filed a lawsuit the year before that sought Ivanka Trump’s emails with political appointees across the administration. In March 2019, her husband, Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, was found to have used a private WhatsApp messenger for work.

Add to those numbers former White House adviser Stephen Bannon and former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland, who reportedly used personal email to discuss selling nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia. And Kelly Craft, the ambassador to the United Nations. And former Justice Department official John Gore, who appears to have made a misleading statement in a sworn declaration to avoid having his personal email searched. "

Lock them ALL up!!!!!!!!

MAGA?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/22/clim ... water.html

"The Trump administration on Thursday will finalize a rule to strip away environmental protections for streams, wetlands and other water bodies, handing a victory to farmers, fossil fuel producers and real estate developers who said Obama-era rules had shackled them with onerous and unnecessary burdens.

From Day 1 of his administration, President Trump vowed to repeal President Barack Obama’s “Waters of the United States” regulation, which had frustrated rural landowners. His new rule, which will be implemented in the coming weeks, is the latest step in the Trump administration’s push to repeal or weaken nearly 100 environmental rules and laws, loosening or eliminating rules on climate change, clean air, chemical pollution, coal mining, oil drilling and endangered species protections.

Mr. Trump has called the regulation “horrible,” “destructive” and “one of the worst examples of federal” overreach.

“I terminated one of the most ridiculous regulations of all: the last administration’s disastrous Waters of the United States rule,” he told the American Farm Bureau Federation’s annual convention in Texas on Sunday, to rousing applause.

“That was a rule that basically took your property away from you,” added Mr. Trump, whose real estate holdings include more than a dozen golf courses. (Golf course developers were among the key opponents of the Obama rule and key backers of the new one.)

His administration had completed the first step of its demise in September with the rule’s repeal.

His replacement on Thursday will complete the process, not only rolling back 2015 rules that guaranteed protections under the 1972 Clean Water Act to certain wetlands and streams that run intermittently or run temporarily underground, but also relieves landowners of the need to seek permits that the Environmental Protection Agency had considered on a case-by-case basis before the Obama rule.

It also gives President Trump a major policy achievement to bring to his political base while his impeachment trial continues.

“Farmers coalesced against the E.P.A. being able to come onto their land, and he’s delivering,” said Jessica Flanagain, a Republican strategist in Lincoln, Neb. “This is bigger news for agricultural producers than whatever is happening with the sideshow in D.C.,” she added.

The new water rule will remove federal protections from more than half the nation’s wetlands, and hundreds of thousands of small waterways. That would for the first time in decades allow landowners and property developers to dump pollutants such as pesticides and fertilizers directly into many of those waterways, and to destroy or fill in wetlands for construction projects."

Q Mr. President, back on the Middle East: When are you going to release your plan?

THE PRESIDENT: On the Middle East? Fairly soon. But they’ll be coming — what — what’s the date? When are they coming? The —

Q Twenty-eighth. Tuesday.

THE PRESIDENT: Twenty-eighth? Yeah. Sometime prior to that.

Q You’ll release the plan prior to that?

THE PRESIDENT: I think so. We’re going to probably release it a little bit prior to them coming.

Q And what’s the — what’s the secret sauce?

THE PRESIDENT: It’s a great plan. Honestly, it’s a great plan. It’s a plan that really would work.
Can't wait!!

Pretty interesting thread, in which NPR's Mary-Louise Kelly -- consummate professional -- tries to get an answer from the Secretary of State about the lengths to which he went to support the diplomatic corps and Yovonavitch. The answer appears to be not so much.

https://twitter.com/davidgura

Off mic, Pompeo then asks if she can find Ukraine on a map; she points it out, and he yells at her, "Who f*cking cares about Ukraine?" and concludes by saying "People will hear about this."

https://twitter.com/davidgura/status/12 ... 7767238657

Meaning? Things are going to happen to her? Funding cuts? For doing her job. Rule of the mob bosses, thugs and ugly hangers-on.

Despicable.
