Yep. several thousand friends. Yes, because of my vocation.
Dunno why you're giving me a hard time----they all sound like you. Make fun of fake libs. Make fun of Dem party "just not getting it".
And yes, lots of support for Tulsi. Quite a bit for Yang. Zero for Booker. Zero for Warren. Zero for ORourke. Zero for Hick.
Many of my friends are operatives or activists. Just calling it like I'm seeing it. The libs are sick of the Dem/Clinton status quo.

This may come as a shock, but I wasn't clear when talking about FoF (friends on fecesbook) I should have just stated : NOT a work related website, especially a product oriented one.a fan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:47 am Yep. several thousand friends. Yes, because of my vocation.

Also, don't know if you are being sardonic about calling thousands of "FoF: as REAL friends?
Does this mean that if I had a fecebook account, "liked" your adult beverage FB page.......we would be "friends" ?

No, for our biz page? I don't know those folks.
For my personal page? Yes. I know the folks who are friends. We've been in biz for 20 years now. I meet a lot of people.
Just telling you what I'm seeing. I don't think a centrist candidate can win. Saw the same thing with the outrage of the Dems picking Hill over Bernie.
Dems need someone who will get people to the polls. Just my opinion, and I get that I'm not dealing with hard science here.

As I stated, the real outrage was when Bernie went barnstorming for Hillaryous Clinton.a fan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 11:45 am No, for our biz page? I don't know those folks.

How about a little favor? Be a Tulsi Gabbard influencer on fecesbook and all those friends. Get other friends to do it too. 4 or 5 more should do. All you have to do is post FAVORABLE items for Tulsi. Just twice a day, for the first week. See if others pick up on it and start a buzz. Then, post Gabbard links in the positive SIX times a day, each of you.
You can post something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR8UcnwLH24

It was the Russians last time. Trump said “I can’t help it if they helped me win”....
“I wish you would!”
Re: 2020 Elections - Off and Running
Tulsi and Yang (guaranteed basic income aside) make too much sense to ever get the nomination of the Dems.
I read somewhere that Tulsi is the least supported candidate among all the Dem contenders. Top of every candidate's list - or I guess I mean bottom. In other words - they fear her and dislike her.runrussellrun wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 7:48 am Tulsi Gabbard. Why don't YOU and your thousands of social media friends discuss HER? I fear that she would get crushed by Trump. Other than that I know almost nothing about her. And I'm a pretty well read liberal democrat.
I wish my fellow D primary voters would consider the following facts.
(1) In the general election, there will be voters who would vote for a straight male D in the general against Trump, but will not vote for a female and/or a gay male D. They may not even know themselves that this is the reason they just don't "like" the D nominee. We don't know how large this cohort is, but I'm absolutely certain that it exists. (How else to explain the raw hatred of HRC and the free pass given to her husband, when pretty much absolutely everything they did was a joint venture?)
(2) Any of the 20+ D candidates is preferable as POTUS to Trump. If they had any sense, they would all meet and pick one or two or three to run in the primaries, and the rest would drop out. The Rs have now established beyond all doubt that every single one of them is utterly corrupt, except for the tiny few who are being forced out of the party if they don't die first. This is a national emergency that has never before been seen, and it may already be too late to prevent the Rs from seizing power in the manner of an Orban or Ergodan or Putin. Elections are being rigged now, the census is being rigged to further tighten the grip on power, our Orban/Ergodan/Putin has declared that he fully accepts foreign intelligence help with tightening his grip, and his R minions back him up 100%.

On this, you are probably correct, at least a little. But no, Hillary's issues, relative to Bill, went beyond her gender. First of all Bill is charming, both with a few people and with a multitude. Hillary not charming at all, especially on camera. Bill emotes caring in a way very few people can, Hillary on the other end of the spectrum. Bill never came across as arrogant and elitist, Hillary exuded those unattractive qualities.
I could go on.
Bill was a dog, a reprobate, a liar. Never got my vote as it was obvious, and I think that stuff matters. It was easy to vote for HW and Dole over him, much less that I'm an R.
Hillary didn't initially bother me as much, given that I'm generally favorably disposed to strong women, but my wife who is quintessential strong found her repugnant from day 1, first exposure the interview in NH. Arrogant, venal, grossly ambitious-dishonest. That view never improved, though there was at least some sense of actual accomplishment.

I understand the motivation for it - but the unintended consequences will, in my opinion be a disaster.
Humans don't do "nothing" very well. There is a reason the adage "idle hands are the devil's workshop" exists. Left to do nothing other than collect a check and spend it on a life that leaves the unemployable a huge step below the employed and with that gap widening every year - those unemployable will find something to fill their time ... and it won't be pleasant for those at the top of the food chain. It is a path to UGLY politics.
We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg on that dynamic now on the simple basis of the widening income gap. the Dems don't get it. The McCain gop doesn't get it. Sanders gets it. Trump gets it. The Brexiteers get it. If responsible people don't start "getting it" ... we are F''ed/

The Corporate Dems don't. AOC and other young Dems do. It's his group of Dem voters who stayed home. They know the Dems have been playing them for decades.
He most certainly does not. What would make you think he does? His bills and deregulation has stuffed trillions into the pockets of the multinational 1%ers. And he still doesn't have one program for his forgotten voters.
And, whoops, he "forgot" to pass an immigration reform bill. So honestly, I don't know what you mean that Trump gets it.
They most certainly do not. They have made the income gap worse, not better. For the bottom 99%ers, Labor mobility is a key feature of the EU. Brexiteers got rid of that. Things will get worse for the bottom half of UK earners, not better.

What Trump and the Brexiteers get is how to use "fear and resentment" politics to gain votes. Hey, its those people that don't look like you and those people that look down on you that have caused your misery....HooDat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 11:25 amI understand the motivation for it - but the unintended consequences will, in my opinion be a disaster.

Bingo.
That's not even close to the same thing as identifying the income gap problem, and putting together a plan to fix it.

Re: 2020 Elections - Off and Running
I never said the Brexiteers or Trump were DOING anything about it. I said they get it. They use it as a wedge.
notice that I said: "if RESPONSIBLE people don't start getting it....." I have yet to see anyone that I would describe as "responsible" take any kind of political stand on these issues. My personal list of responsible people does not include: OAC, Sanders, Trump, or most of the Brexit folks. But all of them are benefiting from having identified the issue.
Yang recognizes it, but I think UBI is a fools errand. He seems like a good guy who sees a problem and wants to fix it, but really has no idea what he is doing. In the end all UBI will do is push up prices on basic goods, such that everyone in the country will need to make $11,000 a year more than they did before to have the same standard of living. Prices will respond, and funnily enough, the rich won't be impacted....funny (strange) how that works isn't it???

I view Yang's idea like Obama's with Obamacare. Once they or their partners can't get good jobs? That's when UBI will start sounding real, real good.
Enacting it now sounds insane, just as Obamacare did for those soccer moms with palatable health coverage.
Re: 2020 Elections - Off and Running
I understand the appeal of UBI. I even think it is reasonable to think about it as a way to make up for the dislocation of workers. But I worry that it will have very, very bad unintended consequences. It is an utopian concept. I love utopian concepts, but I do not trust them....a fan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 5:14 pm I view Yang's idea like Obama's with Obamacare.
