The audit of the pentagon. Both political parties have claimed to want it. OBama couldn't do it. (not interested perhaps ) Bush couldn't do it. (Cheney wouldn't allow it )

Isn't this a GREAT thing that Trump has done? I think so. Having dinner at my homosexual Doctor cousins house last night, with other married same sex doctors, tRump topic came up. I agreed, he is scum and has pushed for making the rich get richer, but he did order a Penatgon audit, the largest US budget item year after year.

You could imagine the silence, the "I didn't know thats" Why would you? Who covers it?

So, no, I guess I am wrong, they are NOT all the same. Trump is different. He is auditing the biggest fraud/budget in the worlds history (besides religion) Maybe it won't do much anyway, or still hide the money, but IT IS happening. We will read the report in the washington post in November. Right?

For the Pentagon to get to this point, it has been, as they say, a process. The U.S. government established requirements for each agency to present financial statements back in the 1990s. But for more than 20 years, the Department of Defense has lagged other agencies that were following modern accounting standards, reporting what they received and spent.

In 2010, Congress included a requirement in the National Defense Authorization Act that gave the military "an extra seven years to clean up the books and get ready," as Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa said last year. That set a new deadline to be ready for an audit by September 2017.

The Pentagon audit would deliver on a campaign pledge by Trump. He was one of several candidates, including Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, to make that promise — perhaps in the knowledge that the audit had already been federally mandated.

Correction: back in the way-back-when days, Trump was viewed as a librul by many (including) himself. Democrats in NYC did not need his money as the City is and has always been largely Dem well before he stumbled onto the scene and is that way to this day. True, he did contribute $ to them. But this is because they enacted local legislation which gave him tax breaks on his real estate properties. If anything he courted them, not the other way around.

But, the point is, what are the actual "on the job" requirements for a US president? Who will NOT watch TV after being sworn in 2021 that you are supporting? Solutions.

So, Fatty, my takeaway is that the best one can say about Trump, in this instance, is that, though he didn't get this done in September 2017 when the legislation required, he at least didn't stop it from happening in 2018. It was federally mandated for September 2017, enacted in 2010.

As the above indicates, Trump's campaign pledge was the same as other candidates. Of course, as he has little regard for actually understanding these things, he may not have known, as the other candidates more likely did, that this was already a mandated audit. So, in his mind, he may think he 'ordered it', as if it wouldn't have happened otherwise. But we should understand that's not accurate.

But sure, the audit is indeed important and hopefully will provide actionable insight for the Pentagon and Congress to make better decisions going forward.

"Good for him" is appropriately succinct.
