Indeed, NOKE is LYN’s biggest rivalry. Chippy always but respectful player hugs and coaches exchanges on the line.
If this group puts in the work they will be dangerous.

Finn Schmidt injured last game w/ HSC and didn’t dress. The freshman A group had chemistry and Finn was the lefty compliment to Wolfe @ Mid. Now Wolfe steps in and ends strong with off ball cut and his strong lefty drive. A couple TO’s showed he was rusty..
Credit NOKE for isolating Kraus on FO’s on own wins causing many TO’s. They adjusted 2nd half and clamped and dumped allowing Nestor 7GB’s.. NOKE rode well and took away Rust Vandenburg #38 inside game and played unselfish slow down offense. Kammerman is a gamer.

LYN has some gamers too. As LYN fan this one worries me. LYN needs to get in sync on offense and win some tough matchups. Quick turnaround and Gene has rested horses.

5:00PM game - LYN 14-12.

Two awesome games yesterday...

W&L markedly better than the first game against HSC, much more balance on offense there. They can throw about 10 guys out there on offense who can all take a matchup and win it, bodes well for them going forward. Pokorny and Burns are legit..both 1st team all conference IMO. Allen really good player, Elliott really good. Defense stepped up and shutdown the Tigers, Hubbard and Lackey obviously great players but SSDM were very good too, bright future for those guys as they are 2 freshmen and 1 soph (with 1 senior in there too). I think they matchup well with Lynchburg, especially if they can get the ball, their middies are dynamic and patient.

Unfortunately HSC defense left out to dry and stuck playing too much of the game down on their own end, tough to win games like that without the ball. Got desperate on the face-offs which led to some easy goals, needs to be something that is addressed going forward. Thompson did a commendable job there this season but hard to win games against great teams w/o FOGO. Seems they ran out of steam, a shame too because the talent on defensive side was one of the best all year, all poles can play the other team's best. Convo with coach after game and he lauded that HSC only runs 2 SSDM for most of the game, two very good players and are well respected amongst ODAC coaches

Roanoke looked the best they have all year, offense was balanced and made some huge plays to keep the game tight. #10 was difference maker on the offensive side of the ball after he has spent a lot of the year bouncing between O and D mid. Faceoff guy scrapped and made it tight which is huge in a game of this caliber. Kammerman could very well be the best offensive player in the league and he looked like it at times last night (he sure does love his celebrations, kudos to Lynchburg Sports for the great stream as well)

Lynchburg squeaks out a big win. No Schmidt was a big factor but Lynchburg has the top end talent to make up. Wolfe had a great game coming back from injury. Hadley proved himself to be the best goalie in the conference with some huge stops late to seal the deal. Lynchburg top 6 is as good as they come but the depth is a little bit of a question mark IMO. Defense is very sound too, Marindin and Zingo can both take the opposing team's top guy and Darminio is a vacuum off the ground and in imposing figure up top.

Should be great ODAC Championship...best two teams are in the final.

W&L LYN should be a good one today. Gens have been hot recently, looking really solid in semis vs HSC. LYN, on the other hand, was barely able to squeak past a feisty Noke team. Any score predictions for today’s tilt?

Gennies sticking it to the Hornets so far. W&L known for choking away big games historically, hopefully they can hold on to this one.

Well played game by both teams with great defense and hustle. The Generals seems to stand around on offense in the second half, and probably won because they just have better athletes. Surprised how Lynchburg dominated the X much of the time.

Other than the video freezing for the last 90 seconds, it was a terrific broadcast.

Certainly a game in Lexington next week.

Good luck.

Generals got smoked at the dot today. W&L fogo did not have one ground ball. That I thought was the difference in this game. I was watching off and on, did they ever try a pole or double pole the wings. Also thought when Lynchburg began a run and cut it to 2 that W&Lcould have tried to zone it up ( did they ). Congratulations on the win, make some noise in the NCAA’s . Best team W&L has had in years. Maybe leave the sideline antics when a goal is scored at home

I have to assume the Lynchburg students being so close to the field has something to do with the celebrations. They must be yelling some heinous insults at W&L - which would warrant huge celebrations from them for any goal. And also get the Burg juiced for the goals they score. I think it is an amazing home field advantage. Keep up Hornets fans!

Choreographed celebrations like these are running rampant across college lacrosse and have been for a number of years.

The question is will we be treated to a trilogy this year in the tournament? I sure hope so

Where will W&L and Lynchburg be seeded

DIVISION III MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP

National Participation
There are 245 NCAA member institutions that sponsor Division III Men’s Lacrosse teams and are eligible to compete in the National Championship. All 245 programs support approximately 8,400 Men's Lacrosse student-athletes across the country.

Selection Process
The Division III Men’s Lacrosse Committee is charged with selecting the field of teams and assembling the championship bracket. The Division III Committee is comprised of five members, made up of coaches and administrators.

The NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship provides for a 38-team single-elimination tournament.

The Division III Men’s Lacrosse Committee will select teams to the championship based on the following selection principals:
After the determination of the automatic berths (Pool A), the committee will determine the Pool B selections followed by the Pool C selections. Pool B is reserved for independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not receive automatic qualification. The number of eligible institutions in Pool B is determined by subtracting the number of eligible institutions in Pool A (total number of institutions in conferences with automatic qualification) from the total number of active Division III institutions sponsoring the sport. Pool B = (number of independents and non-qualifying conference members) divided by (the access ratio for Pool A) - the result truncated to the nearest whole number (e.g., 5.61 truncates to 5). Berths from Pools B and C will be selected on a national basis, using regional selection criteria. There will be no predetermined regional allocations for Pools B and C.

To be considered during the selection process for either an automatic berth (Pool A) or an at-large berth (Pool B and Pool C), an institution must play at least 70 percent of its competition against Division III in-region opponents, unless a waiver has been approved by the Division III Championships Committee.

DIVISION III SELECTION CRITERIA:
Primary Criteria - The primary criteria for selection (all contests leading up to NCAA Championships); all criteria listed will be evaluated (not listed in priority order)
• Won-lost percentage against Division III opponents.
• Division III head-to-head competition.
• Results versus common Division III opponents.
• Results versus ranked Division III teams as established by the final rankings and the rankings preceding the final rankings. Conference postseason contests are included.
• Division III strength of schedule.
- Opponents’ Average Winning Percentage (OWP) 2/3 weight.
- Opponents’ Opponents’ Average Winning Percentage (OOWP) 1/3 weight.
Secondary Criteria - If the evaluation of the primary criteria does not result in a decision, the secondary criteria will be reviewed. All the criteria listed will be evaluated (not listed in priority order). The secondary criteria introduce results versus opponents from other classifications.
• Non-Division III win-loss percentage.
• Results versus common non-Division III opponents.
• Division III nonconference strength of schedule.

Selection Show | May 7, 2023
The NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships bracket will be announced May 7.

All ODAC; Congratulations to all. I would like to run out a stat line on SSDM. I thought both W&L freshmen SSDM’s were best in the league
Gaines Weis HSC. 7G 8A 15 Pts 34 Gb16 TO’s 21 CT
Colin Beatty W&L 6 G 5 A 11 Pts 56 Gb 11 TO’s 4 CT
Elliot Cohen W&L 7 G 15 A 22 Pts 41 Gb 10 To’s 5 CT

Weis with 21 CT’s but way behind on Gb’s he had more turnovers himself than Beatty and Cohen. Can’t say I saw Weis more than 2 x but don’t believe despite his CT number he’s a more complete player or better shut down defender than Beatty and Cohen. Did he get beat a lot in going for the big check in games? Cohen and Beatty shut people down. Let’s see how they do in the tournament

D3 CT stats are about as reliable as the preseason polls.
