That article is scathing. On all fronts. The school's bungled handling of the studewnt disciplines, the terrible search process, and of course the final outcome for Thompson. Biddy scapegoated Thompson in the pursuit of an agenda, and fired him without cause. He deserves an apology at the very least and is likely due a legal settlement. Now his career and future has been negatively effected and the course has been negatively altered.
I hope Thompson is pursuing a legal resolution to get a share of that $2B endowment.
Really sad all around. JT is too good at his craft to not rebound, I for one am rooting for him. My skirting around the edges of the law (good and bad) tell me that he does have some legal recourse. I do hope he gets paid and finds a gig at a place where he can help score 25 on Amherst.

But to say "get a share of that $2B endowment" just shows peoples lack of understanding. Endowments are built off restricted gifts, they cannot be used for legal fees to make up for an error by the pres. Also, laws restrict how much of a draw one can take off the endowment, 5% being the bottom, and up to 10% at the top, although most non-profits are really hesitant to dip that far into the reserves.

After Bowdoin pulled out of fall sports, thought the rest of NESCAC might follow, but I remained hopeful. However, with Williams pulling out (and my opinion that if any schools would hold out and try for fall sports it would be WIlliams and Tufts), I think it likely imminent now that all of NESCAC will pull out of fall sports. Question will soon become what about winter/spring sports? My bet, given the very conservative approach taken by the NESCAC colleges toward school structure in the era of the virus, coupled with the fact that athletics generate no revenue, plus a likely lower revenue from tuition, and I think it very likely that the schools will ultimately make the decision to eliminate sports all year. Disappointing and sad, but I think a likely reality.

Agreed, I think fall sports in the NESCAC are not happening. As for lacrosse:
1) Many D3 schools outside the NESCAC do not have the war chest that NESCAC schools have (or the kind of admins that you find in the NESCAC), and may feel a greater urgency to keep their athletes happy and on the field, for financial reasons. So, even if the NESCAC opts to cancel lacrosse in the spring, I have a feeling that the rest - more or less - of D3 will go ahead with a lacrosse season. It would seemingly be Salisbury's championship to lose if that happened, but you never know - it would certainly make for an interesting season for that second tier of teams who might never get past one of the top NESCAC teams in the NCAA.
2) I saw this product the other day, and it gave me a bit of optimism for a college lacrosse season: https://www.lax.com/lacrosse-equipment/ ... gIf9fD_BwE. It will give college admins and coaches cover for allowing participation, even if it doesn't actually do much. I'm sure the kids won't love it, but if it means playing they'll wear it.
3) If you believe that any of what is happening with COVID is political - I'm not surmising that it is or isn't - then the Lockdown crowd will presumably quiet down by mid-November. Perhaps we have a vaccine rolling out in December. Perhaps the hospitalization numbers continue to trend in the right direction in the fall. Perhaps a D1 college football season went off with only a few hitches. Keep hope alive!

I already ordered them for my nine year old and am trying to convince my college playing son to do the same.

You guys obviously never wore an I Tech shield for hockey. It’s basically the same thing, impossible to breathe in and to keep clean.

This seems slightly different/improved over the Itech? Perhaps not as close to the face due to the construction of the lacrosse vs. hockey helmets.

In any case, I wasn't commenting on whether it was a good or effective product, it might just be a way to differentiate lacrosse as a playable sport versus a sport like soccer or basketball where no shield at all is possible. If we're being honest, most of what we have done/are doing to "stop the spread" is a dress on a pig - it will spread, not much we can do about it.

Sam Frisoli (St. Sebastian’s, MA) committed to play football and lacrosse at Tufts. Solid two-way middie whose two older brothers play lacrosse at Harvard and Duke.

The NESCAC shall hide under their beds until further notice. If it were me, I would take my talents elsewhere. With all due respect, of course.

There will be a vaccine by November - 100's of millions of doses by the end of the year and a billion by next summer.
Pfizer and others are leading the charge. They will be playing in the spring...

Thorndike is a great get for the Panthers. Middlebury has always done well drawing from the ISL.

Posted on another thread that Jon Thompson is headed to Air Force. If true, that is great news for him and an opportunity to rapidly rehabilitate his name (or at least it would be in sane world) after the BS at Amherst.
