NLF write up on Laxachusetts recruits for 2025 & 2026. A lot of ISL representation among their top players: https://nlfrankings.com/nlf-summer-prev ... top-2026s/

The ISL all-star team is up on their website. Still don’t see who the 3 AA’s are though ( or 2 after Fox). Initial reaction though I haven’t looked too closely is O’Leary and Reilly at HM and don’t even see Cabral as surprises. Congrats to all recognized.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, once Kelly became a full time starter with the Fulham injury he was very impressive. Football may be his first love but I wonder if lacrosse is his future in college. Also surprised to see Frisoli only get HM. 30 kids got All ISL and he was a top 5ish player of those I saw. They both have two more years and perhaps that factored into thinking. O'Leary feels like a snub as well. Nobles were up and down this year but only one All-ISL still feels low for them.

Don't know about AAs. I saw that Merageas from Seb's didn't get it. My guess would be DiBattista and maybe Geraci or Grosso.

Wow, I'm not in any way trying to say they aren't deserving but two juniors is nuts. I wonder if that's ever happened before.

Generally curious about this.

If you took the top 3 teams in every sport, how does MIAA vs ISL play out in major sports?

National rankings, D1 recruits, etc.

Football, basketball, hockey, baseball?

I will play since I've coached in both.

Football: MIAA
Basketball: Coin Flip (NEPSAC Hoops outside of the ISL is stronger Brewster etc.)
Hockey: ISL
Lacrosse: ISL (Not close)
Baseball: MIAA

Needham High School made the D1 semi finals in football, the D1 finals in soccer, and D1 finals in lacrosse. I would've taken the other team in town (St. Seb's) in match ups in all three of those sports.

Football is the most interesting to me. The ISL 7 teams all probably have 18-25ish kids who can really play, each with a handful of BCS caliber players, but overall the rosters are pretty small and the gaps between starter and back up quite large - a starter with multiple D1 offers could be backed up by a future NESCAC rugby player. I don't know how it'd go against the depth of the best Catholic Conference teams or large public schools with well run programs. Coach Moore at Tabor getting Peter Bourque to transfer from CM could be a sign of the ISL arms race escalating as he built programs fast at St. Thomas Moore and Loomis.

Always a fair and valid point. The trickle of reclass players has become a river that flows like the Mississippi.

To even out the age gap, I'd still take Seb's without the class of 2024 guys playing over Needham in football and lacrosse. Arrows have a lot of talent in the 25 & 26 classes in those two sports.

A valid point but doesn't really make sense to talk about how they would compare without any reclasses. ISL teams (and not just the tope 2 or 3) would stomp Needham. This isn't because their players practice harder or care more. It is for several seasons but prominent among them is that they ARE older. Asking how Sebs would do vs Needham without holdbacks is like asking how they would do if Sebs could only play players on its roster who are from Needham. The age and lack of geographic boundaries are two of the main reasons why ISL, and so many other private schools across the country, are so far ahead of local private schools. Yeah, eliminate the reasons why they are better....and they would no longer be better. As it stands though, the difference is only getting more pronounced and not just in MA.

Here's the ISL roster for the ISL v. MIAA all-star game on July 9th. It's the All-ISL team with Evans and Reilly from Belmont Hill added on. Congrats. I think we'll see a few changes as a couple of the boarding school kids don't live in this part of the country and at least one other player on this list is rehabbing an injury.
