Dmac, Article says Gait paid out of pocket for device worn that measures both distance covered in game as well as game speed . Dordevic, Curry and Kennedy are mentioned as running between 12,000- 13.000 yards or 7- 7.5 miles during Stony Brook game and that several others also registered high mileage . Did not realize that lax games involved those distances. Info from strap device is meant to identify and mange load as well as map out recovery. Game speed numbers not cited in article but Curry and Kennedy are said to play at over 20 mph which I suppose is fast. Gait has taken some shots from viewers for being stoic on sidelines but shows he's clearly invested in the program behind the scenes .Can't tell if CU77 comment is a below the belt shot or just a poor attempt at humor.

With me, "poor attempt at humor" is always a safe bet. :D

Tracking bras do seem kinda gimmicky to me. Who knows though, maybe they really will improve playing-time management and soon everyone will be wearing them.

Thanks, stup, that's getting mighty technical but Gary obviously sees it as info he can use. Can monitor how well a player does after X number of miles/yds and adjust playing time accordingly, I suppose. Lot of room for over coaching there, could turn the game into a pitch count of sorts. Seventy-nine pitches and you're out, doesn't matter that you struck the last guy out. Eight thousand yards and you sit, gonna need you to be able to hit seventeen mph in the last two minutes. That's some pretty close monitoring.
Gotta figure those criticizing Gary's sideline behavior didn't watch any Cuse wlax for the fourteen years he was the HC there. Seemed to work pretty good on that side, gotta hope it does on the mlax side too. Speaking of which, it's kind of a shame Gary didn't come out with this while on the wlax side, I'd rather see the gals model this thing than the boys....jus' sayin'. When the girls start wearing these it might humble the boys a bit, I think they run a whole lot farther in a game than the boys do.
From my experience with him, CU77 has always been a fair and reasonable person, I imagine there's going to be some ridiculing that comes with this thing.

GPS monitoring has been used for years in lots of sports

it's used for all sorts of things not just total distance run but sprints number & how fast, field position, work load, injury rehab...

They will be wearing them everyday in practice

I think this functionality comes with every Apple Watch. I know people have been tabulating this for a long time with soccer players and... 7.5 miles makes sense. Soccer players, on average, run 7-10 miles. BUT... I dunno. It used to be 5-6 miles and, today, people will say a soccer goalie ran 2 miles and... i dunno. I just question the accuracy of these more recent numbers.

My smart phone sometimes gives different numbers for the number of miles we hike when we have hiked pretty much the same course a couple of days in a row. I chalked it up to stride length, but that shouldn't be the case with these monitors. At any rate, it's good to see modern technology applied to conditioning.

Duke D comes into this game knowing they basically need to stop two players. Wouldn't it be nice to see SU change things up and really move the rock?

Terrible goal to give up there at the end of the half. Duke has certainly been a 2nd half team so hopefully that won't come back to haunt the Orange.

This certainly throws things for a loop,

I’ve been seeing calls for the ACC getting “only”
three NCAA bids this year.

That was Syracuse lacrosse. For me, I don't care if they lose games so long they play like that. Fun to watch....share the ball.

This is what worked, truly what the difference was. Haven't been to a game in the Dome for two years, first time back today (all restrictions/documentations lifted). The karma was once again right in the Dome, DMac and his buddy were in our seats and all was well in the Dome again. Pretty good day, half priced tickets, get a free Chick Filet sandwich with your ticket stub when Cuse scores 10+, and Cuse looks like a whole different team playing on a different level than previous games. Great game to be at, haven't seen an attendance number but I'd guess close to 6K. The newly renovated Dome is a pretty darn nice environment to watch a game in.
