Cornell at 12 and will be higher when they get their 3rd win...
Won't be tomorrow!
I am looking forward to that game. I have Cornell ranked relatively low only because I don’t really know what they have. Watching them play tomorrow will give me a data point.

Based on their Resumes thus far this season, their Best Three Wins and Worst Three Losses, these are the D1 Men's Rankings. I'm aware OSU beat UNC, Penn beat Duke, etc. and... These are individual games. When creating this ranking, I look at each team's body of work thus far this season, not just individual games. In other words, based on Penn's season thus far this season (keep in mind, thus far, they've only played 2 games), their W over Duke was the biggest upset we've seen this season. In a couple weeks, this game may not be an upset at all. Each team's body of work, not just individual games. With that said, #1 to #73.

So Penn beat your number 6 and lost to your number 1 and they are ranked in the teens?

Computers have no concept of the importance of "winning"...no more so than knowledge of a 500+ horsepower sports cars acceleration. Or the taste of 50 year old bourbon.

They probably need another game, UPenn, before the
computers catch up.

Isn’t winning a key imput for rankings?

not only did i speak to this, I spoke to Penn explicitly!

NO......winning does NOT matter..... Hopkins ranked #7 is all you need to know about a computer ranking value, based on stats and not "feelings" ....well ahead of undefeated Boston U.

It's ok to have feelings.....

Watched the game. 20 is too low for Cornell in my poll submission. Another win on Saturday and definitely moving up. May also move up with a loss depending on other games.

Ranking teams by who beats who eg A >B; B >C; C > A Often creates a circular firing squad. Another image is the ouroboros aka the snake swallowing its tail.

In theory a team with a few weak schedule could be undefeated at the end of the regular season.

Other than Maryland and UVA, this is a perplexing week to rank! I'm glad I'm participating in this (thank you @Matnum) because it has given me more empathy for real pollsters. Watching Hobart-'Cuse and Jacksonville - Denver this afternoon while trying to figure out who belongs where in the other 18 slots.
