Palin can see failure from her house...DocBarrister wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:29 pm Things are beginning to look ominous for the Trump MAGA-Trash Republican Party. Democrat Mary Peltola just defeated Trump-supported Sarah Palin for Alaska’s sole House seat.
Democrat Mary Peltola has defeated Republican Sarah Palin in the special election for Alaska’s vacant House seat, a big upset over the former governor in the state’s first election under ranked-choice voting.
Peltola, a former state legislator who will become Alaska’s first indigenous member of Congress, defeated a special election field that included Palin and another Republican, Nick Begich III. The Democrat finished first in the initial tally and then won enough second-choice votes from Begich’s supporters to see off Palin, who had former President Donald Trump’s endorsement and previously won a statewide campaign in 2006.

That’s two upset Democratic wins in special elections in recent weeks.
A Red Wave doesn’t look likely in November.

A few symptoms of CTE in there as well.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 4:56 pm Herschel Walker once put a gun to his ex-wife’s head and threatened to blow her brains out. He blamed the incident on his diagnosed dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder).
Walker's threats and alleged menacing behavior toward his ex-wife, Cindy Grossman, and other women date to at least 2001, according to police records obtained by NBC News and other outlets. Walker was never criminally charged. But he and Grossman discussed several incidents publicly after Walker's 2008 memoir described his being diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, or DID, formerly known as multiple personality disorder. Walker has said he developed “alters” to deal with stress and trauma, and he has noted how memory loss is a symptom of DID.
… “The first time he held the gun to my head … he held the gun to my temple and said he was going to blow my brains out,” Grossman is then seen saying in a clip from a 2008 interview with CNN.

The “first time?!?”
Now, dissociative identity disorder can explain his multiple personalities, but it doesn’t really explain why Herschel Walker held a gun to his ex-wife’s head and threatened to blow her brains out. People diagnosed with dissociative disorders are not more prone to violence, unlike the malignant stereotype.

Nope, can’t blame Mr. Walker’s dissociative identity disorder for holding a gun to his ex-wife’s head … that’s all on Herschel Walker.
Trump sure knows how to pick them. Of course, Trump is a credibly accused rapist. So a little gun play with a woman’s head probably wouldn’t preclude Trump’s endorsement.

Ranked choice voting would have kept Trump from winning the 2016 Republican primary. It's good for all parties.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:29 pm Things are beginning to look ominous for the Trump MAGA-Trash Republican Party. True, Palin is a loser. But remember, Trump won Alaska by 10 points in 2020. A Democrat hasn’t held this seat in 50 years.CU88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:48 pmPalin can see failure from her house...DocBarrister wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:29 pm Things are beginning to look ominous for the Trump MAGA-Trash Republican Party. I wouldn't get too excited Doc about the long term prospects for the Dems in Alaska. If you parse the voting, it is clear that the GOP in Alaska outweighs the Dems by (at least) 60/40.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:32 pmTrue, Palin is a loser. A Republican slice of burnt toast should have been able to win that seat in Alaska.HooDat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:32 amI wouldn't get too excited Doc about the long term prospects for the Dems in Alaska. But, you can take comfort in the fact that 35% of the GOP voters preferred a Dem to Palin.
Certainly. But in November, the GOP will be split again and if the newly elected Dem is as moderate/popular as she seems, she has an excellent chance of re-election. Very much like Murkowski on the Senate side who is also going to get re-elected.HooDat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:32 amI wouldn't get too excited Doc about the long term prospects for the Dems in Alaska. Doesn't help that Trump is in full grift mode.
