Nice typo
Fat thumbs, common for me primarily posting via my phone. I had a falling out w a dean and did ok in school and nearly transferred to Wesleyan but glad I didn’t.

I’m seeing a number of schools ( Navy , JHU...)posting in social media showing fall ball Practices. Anything happening in Geneva?

Don't think that was JHU. Fall semester is entirely virtual, few if any students are on campus right now.

She’s worth an estimated $16Bn. 5% of that would be 4x our current endowment and push us to around $1Bn (and for what it’s worth probably up 10-20 spots in USNWR on that alone). If we’re low $200s, she can’t have given more than 1/10th of 1% (10 basis points, $16mm). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abigail_Johnson
Problem is that Fidelity is not public so liquidity is an issue and from what I read in Barron's years ago much of the privately-held stock is in a Family Trust, so making a bigger donation is difficult.

If Fidelity ever went public we'd really see what her desire is.

There’s plenty of ways to do it w private equity and assets held in trust. Borrow against it for liquidity with debt virtually free these days. Heck even a donation in kind. It’s just less tax efficient. But we’re talking about even 1/2 of 1% Is $75-$80Mm which would be a major increase to our current endowment on the order of a 35-40% increase. Point being it’s pretty hard to believe she’s made HWS anywhere near the top 100 on her list of priorities in life with where we are at vis a vis her wealth. Certainly her right but I find these quasi leaked stories of how she supports the school behind the scenes to be kind of bs and inclined to believe they are floated by administration to support a view they are being effective when every alum of the colleges knows they have been terrible at fundraising (and career services as well) for many decades.

This is all rumor, but based on reliable sources at Hobart. First week is going pretty well. Of over 1000 tests, only 1 positive, and that was being retested because there was a likelihood that the person had already had COVID and was testing positive for residual antigens. That person had contact with only one other person, and both are quarantined until it is sorted out.
A few students have been sent home for not following protocols. I heard some were off campus students ... can't believe they were actually sent home, but maybe told they were not welcome on campus.
Gyms are still closed until they can be certified safe, but recreation starting in novel ways. I've seen exercise classes on the Boz,for example.
Lots of faculty teaching in person, but with masks, shields, etc.
Not sure how many students made it back in person. Some FR are deferring. Others are staying remote. Faculty friends say it is complicated trying to teach in-person and remote students at the same time.
In short, it is as good as it can be at the moment. No fall ball yet.

Football staff has been collecting schedules and looks like they are trying to figure out a way to start some organized activities. Presumably minimal to start, but a start.

Let's hope he's half as productive as Brandon Shed, from nearby Palm Beach Gardens! Glad to see an SA alum going north, hope he handles the winter well.

Most of these kids have been covered at some point or another but here's a small list. Interesting by geography, after having a lot of success in CO (3, don't see Cam Hancock on there) last few years, none from there and outside of two public school kids no New Englanders or NE prep school kids like we often see.

5 New York (2 JD, Lafayette/Onondaga, Lowville, West Genesee)
3 New Jersey (Hun, Montgomery & Seton Hall Prep)
2 Mass (LS & Hingham)
1 Canadian via Culver (IN)
1 Minnesota (Edina)
1 Virginia (Blue Ridge)
1 Maryland (Severn)
1 North Carolina (Middle Creek)

1 Andrew Vona – Lincoln Sudbury HS; https://www.hudl.com/profile/10776911/Andrew-Vona

14 Sam Ward – Hingham HS; https://www.enterprisenews.com/sports/2 ... redemption

16 Connor Durkin – Jamesville Dewitt; https://jdrampage.org/eight-j-d-athlete ... of-intent/

20 Nick Gullace – Seton Hall Prep; https://highschoolsports.nj.com/player/nicholas-gullace

23 Anthony Dattellas – West Genesee; https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/anthon ... /stats.htm

25 Joel Stevens – Culver Military Academy; https://culverathletics.com/sports/mens ... evens/1559

27 Chad Bach – Lowville; https://www.nny360.com/sports/allnorth/ ... fe54d.html

38 Loukas Sotiropoulos-Lawrence – (former Furman commit) Severn; https://www.capitalgazette.com/sports/h ... story.html

39 Matt Turner – Montgomery, NJ HS; https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/matt-t ... efault.htm

47 Porter Johnson – Edina HS; https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/porter ... /stats.htm

48 Cameron Kewley – Blue Ridge HS (VA); https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/camero ... efault.htm

54 Michael Cardinali – Hun; http://www.towntopics.com/wordpress/202 ... -canceled/

56 Nathan Greenberg – Middle Creek HS (NC); https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/nathan ... efault.htm

88 Zach Delaney – (former Cornell commit) Lafayette/Onondoga HS; https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/zach-d ... efault.htm

Actually (3) are from MA. Cam Kewley is from Boston but went to boarding school in VA. He played his club ball with 3D New England.

Was just going by HS but good to know. Think one of the NJ guys, maybe Cardinalli, is actually from Pennsy, but can’t recall. Noticed there’s a goalie from Blue Ridge (love that part of Va, BTW) named Bland coming next year as well.

So w 3 Mass kids plus the existing roster, we have 11 total kids from Mass. Have to compare w NJ but that must be second to NY. Not that it means anything and of course LS has been a huge pipeline w Holden, Ryan, Cam and Andrew Von & Herlihy in just the past couple of years.

Looks like it’s all section 3. W Genny, JD (2x), Onondaga & Lowville.

There is a kid next year committed from section 9 w South Side HS and one from Mamaroneck. Also a Westhill and Cicero NS in that class

Ontario County reporting a spike associated with HWS. Heard we went from 4 to 18 cases. 84 students in isolation (preventative). Rumor I heard from someone close to athletics said that fall sports are now completely done ... they were about to start some practices. It was inevitable, but I hope the preparations and planning bring it under control quickly.
