Saul Berenson says the country will fall to the Taliban six weeks after the Americans pull out.
In hindsight, that was a very prescient comment bill. .
....do you have access to the scripts of Homeland ?
If this was Obama doing this latest Trump gambit, you be frantically trying to throw him under the next bus and calling it a horrible policy and idea.
That's how you roll.
...and you aren't funny either.

Saul might be right -- the young men are tired of fighting the old men's war. Life imitating art.

You never were funny. Must be miserable going through life with no sense of humor & a toxic attitude toward those who don't share your views.

You ought to know. Nice that you can be so self-descriptive
and then on the first day of "reduced violence" there's this
Taliban fighters attack Afghan forces on the first day of reduced violence period
From those horribly biased journalists at Reuters.

The day after the Taliban signed an agreement with US on withdrawing troops - they announce and end to the truce that was put in place to facilitate those negotiations and that they will resume Afghan 'operations' ....cannot wait to see them fight terrorists and prevent ISIS and AQ from resurging in country
Esper then announces the schedule for the beginning of troop withdrawals today.
Americans find out that DOPUS talked to Taliban leadership from Taliban leadership.
BRILLIANT!
Deja Vu?

Wait that’s not how the song from the Fifth Dimension goes. Dammit.
Did you report to Admin? I just did in case no one had.
Nah I should but lately it’s clear a bunch of guerrilla advertising or other dirty actors getting in under various sections. Sort of figure it’s a burden on admin who’s doing this as a side hustle for the love of it to hve to monitor that too much-my only concern is this is happening in calendar 23 when the presidential election of 24 is starting to shape up. One even put a semi reasonable looking post up but dropped a clearly BS hyperlink i their signature though can’t imagine more than one person around here who’d click on a hyperlink in a Signature.
CENTCOM announced new deployment to the Middle East to counter Iranain naval threats in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Seas -
An Amphibious Readiness Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit (ARG/MEU) will join additional F-35s, F-16s, and a guided-missile destroyer.
"In response to recent attempts by Iran to threaten the free flow of commerce in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters, the Secretary of Defense has ordered the deployment of a portion of the BATAAN Amphibious Readiness Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit (ARG/MEU) comprised of the USS Bataan, USS Carter Hall, and its associated personnel and equipment into the USCENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR), in addition to the recently approved forces comprising F-35s, F-16s, and a guided missile destroyer, the USS Thomas Hudner (DDG-116). "
ARG/MEU - typically consists of three ships and approximately 2,400 Marines.
Interesting to note -"Following the attempted seizures, the US began flying A-10 attack aircraft over the Strait of Hormuz, off Iran’s southern coast, according to a senior defense official. The A-10s were equipped with weapons capable of targeting Iranian fast attack boats and other maritime targets. The A-10s were originally deployed to the region in late-March following a series of attacks on US positions from Iranian-affiliated militias".

I'm not sure how the marine amphibious units come into play. I guess having them there along with the navy destroyers and the fighter jets let's the Iranians know that Biden is done playing games.

I just read an article that the Iranians have moved one of their elite divisions into a position to attack US forces still in Syria. I'm guessing however fanatical they are and how well trained they may be they are no match for the US Marines and remarkably superior firepower.
