They recognize the value of the global rule set put together post WW ll that has kept a relative level of stability and avoided global conflagration. After two world wars from 1914 through 1945 there hasn’t been one since.
You're describing the center. The center is cool with NATO, and playing cop for the world.

For the left? Playing cop to the world is specifically their largest gripe, and has been since Vietnam. They're not ok with anything that leads to war. That includes NATO. I should know. I was one of them in the early 90's.

Lefties like me thought (again, past tense), that NATO should have been dissolved within months of the Soviets going belly up.

Let go of the rope entirely, now that the Soviets dropped their end, so to speak.

Put this on the TAATS thread or this one ?????

https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2019/0 ... money-grp/

Lack of clarity in IRS or FEC rules allows politically-active nonprofits to make a major impact in federal elections — totaling $1 billion in all-time FEC-reported dark money as of 2018. Dark money was dominated by conservative groups for several consecutive cycles prior to 2018, when liberal groups shelled out more on FEC-reported outside spending than their conservative counterparts.

So many other lil nuggets in this quick read.

Thought the pretends cared about foreign governments and election interference  It's all legal........right? ;)

If you are talking the extreme left I might agree. But not the left of center. I don’t know the extreme as well. I suppose it depends on definitions. Certainly until the last two years republicans supported NATO, the EU, international trade treaties etc. I don’t know who on the left of center would oppose them can you give a few?

Chinese intelligence agents acquired National Security Agency hacking tools and repurposed them in 2016 to attack American allies and private companies in Europe and Asia, a leading cybersecurity firm has discovered. The episode is the latest evidence that the United States has lost control of key parts of its cybersecurity arsenal.

Bernie? Maybe? The left, by and large, doesn't hold any powerful posts in Congress. The minute you vote to invade Iraq, that pulls you out of any claims of being a lefty. And a lefty would never vote to spend even more on our military. Center left? Sure.

Some of the freshman Dems might be lefties, but we can't be sure as they've been in office for all of ten minutes. OAC sure sound left to me.

I would agree with that. There aren't straight up lefties in Congress. We'll see what the Freshmen think as time allows....

It's the same complaint you get from small government fiscal conservatives in Congress: they simply don't exist. Outside of maybe Rand Paul...and he lost his cred when he voted for the Trump Tax Cut. A completely reckless, deficit imploding bill. More so, in that it was passed AFTER all that spending.

AOC is just another TAATS seedling........."just living in the world" ya know.

YANG......got home from the brewins win and read some texts about one of Tucker Carlsons guests last night. A guy named YANG running for President. Heard he wanted to implement V.A.T.

What? No one has heard of YANG? Hmmm.....why IS that?

You are only telling one side of the story. Can you find articles where the US hacked China or hacked Russia...or are those hackings kept in secret somewhere.

Don't you remember Stuxnet....where did that originate? Hmm...do not sell us short RRR.

Mark Cuban freaking nailed it. He calls the proposals from the dem front runners as " headline porn" they know nothing they are proposing will ever pass. It sure is raw meat... excuse me... raw tofu for the FLP base.

Make a suggestion for how you think a political party goes about "defining" itself and giving voters an idea of where they'd like to take the country, philosophically speaking.

Leave it up to a Dear Leader? An authoritarian "strongman" that will make up our minds for us? Some folks clearly favor that approach...no matter WHAT said Dear Leader's fault's as a human being might be...

The Dear Leader we have now made some "promises" during his campaign...remember them? Care to take a pot-shot at him?

Dis, correct me if I am wrong but I believe it is the dems and republicans job to define who they are by what their platform says they stand for. As for our dear leader... I like that btw... he is jyst one more in a very long list of politicians that make promises they can never keep. Since Washington DC has become ever more hostile, the chances of either side agreeing on anything is almost nonexistent. That is why the BHO approach is becoming the new normal. If you don't get what you want... well all you need is a pen and a phone.

Agreed.

The real question(s) is, are you ok with that? Are you ok with obstruction simply because the letter by your name is R/D?

Good question. No I am not ok with that. I don't really know at what point the train jumped the tracks. I do know that the D's and the Rs both need to start talking to each other instead of at each other. Their job is to do the people's business. That is not what they are doing right now.

Also agreed.

My sense is started with Slick Willy, got worse under W and even more so under BHO. From here, imho, the fringes have to be eradicated from having influence.....no clue how or when that happens.
