Absolutely. I concur. There is great parity in the league, and on any given Saturday, anything can happen. This parity is not only in great players, but also in great coaching and recruiting.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:29 pmFC,faircornell wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:23 pmWe could get there. For example, if Cornell beats Dartmouth away, and Harvard and Brown at home, and loses to Princeton away, it ends the season at 4-2.
If you offered ANY Ivy team, TODAY, 4-2, would they take it? Answer: A resounding YES, in a heartbeat.
Do you concur?

Re: Ivy League 2022
You know what, Harvard sitting at 2-0 and looking pretty strong might be one to say, ahhhhhh, maybe not. With what many considered the top 4 getting all the attention, could it possibly be that the team on the Charles, comes out on top? Wouldn't shock me at this point. They are very good and well coached.faircornell wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:39 pmAbsolutely. I concur. There is great parity in the league, and on any given Saturday, anything can happen. Re: Ivy League 2022
For this (very unlikely!) scenario to happen, two teams have to lose every game to the other five. Then, each of those five, in games against each other, have to go 2-2.faircornell wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:23 pmI'm trying to determine who needs to beat whom away for this to happen.
Only B and D do not have an Ivy win yet, so they would need to lose all their remaining Ivy games.
Then C, Pe, Pr, Y each need to go 1-1 in games against H and the one of those four not played yet; while H needs to go 2-2 in games against those four.
I'm not going to try to figure out the minimum number of away wins this requires ...
Re: Ivy League 2022
Not sure what the tie break system is for such an outcome, but I imagine there is one. I'll speculate it would come down to goal differential among the 5 4-2s, in which case it would make a lot of sense to try to run up the score if the opportunity presented itself.
Re: Ivy League 2022
Tiebreakers are here: https://ivyleague.com/sports/2018/4/17/ ... 80748.aspx
Goal differential does come in, 6 goals max per game.

Is the number 1 seed the host for the Ivy Tournament in 2022 ? It may be an advantage not having to travel at a time when the academic load can be heavy.CU77 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 10:19 pm Tiebreakers are here: https://ivyleague.com/sports/2018/4/17/ ... 80748.aspx

The League has not yet announced where the 2022 ILT might be held. In previous years, the announcement was made well before conference play began.laxpert wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 10:26 amIs the number 1 seed the host for the Ivy Tournament in 2022 ? It'll be interesting. They've named two goalies recently, and, by any measure, Paquette had a lights out day. Sometimes the league only looks at production and not strength of opponent, in which case Sam King might take it. For ROW, I'd be surprised if Lyons was not named. He did well in Yale's comeback effort against Cornell, and is a true rookie. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 12:35 pmGot to be a Bulldog for Player of the Week this week, right? Good point on Sam King — plus, I hadn’t factored in the great Harvard win over ranked BU. A hat trick in that game plus 9 points against Dartmouth is quite a resume. Maybe King as POW and, as you suggest, Lyons as ROW.faircornell wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 6:58 pmIt'll be interesting. In RPI? They’ve played 8-0 Maryland, 6-3 OSU, 7-1 UVA, I think 7-1 GTown. That opponent wins % component is crazy high rnPizzaSnake wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 8:01 pmIn the rankings, what is up with Notre Dame? So far, it looks like the Ivy's should get the space normally reserved for all the ACC teams in the tournament....as of this past weekend.
Re: Ivy League 2022
yup. maybe 4 and then 2 and 2 for b1g and acc. lotta games left. opponents and opponents' opponents will keep tacking on to records. but the ivy is in as good a shape as possible at this point.Bacondoesstuff2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:43 am So far, it looks like the Ivy's should get the space normally reserved for all the ACC teams in the tournament....as of this past weekend.
Re: Ivy League 2022
Yeah, but what happens when they keep cannibalizing each other as the season goes on? Remember, should Hopkins hit .500 (and I think they will) they're practically a shoe-in with at least 2 other Bit 10 teams. ACC will get 3, no doubt. I bet the Ivies end up with 3.Bacondoesstuff2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:43 am So far, it looks like the Ivy's should get the space normally reserved for all the ACC teams in the tournament....as of this past weekend.
Hoping to be pleasantly surprised, though...
