Big night under the lights for girls lacrosse and great to have the season officially start. Yorktown made the long trek to the center of the world to take on the the Centreville Wildcats. The Patriots came out firing on the Cats goalie who made 7 straight saves and went on to have double digit saves on the evening. The game was knotted at 0-0 for the first couple of min's then the flood gates opened and it was 12-0 at halftime. The defense for the Patriots is legit combined with a strong ride the Cats were overwhelmed. It ended 18-3 with liberal subbing on both sides in second half.

Sounds like the way the Cats looked last week. Their goalie is pretty good and can keep them in it for a bit, but eventually gets overwhelmed.

Another score report from tonight from ranked teams openers - Herndon (H) - 18, Thomas Jefferson 5.

I think WTW-Oakton was tonight, along with South County-Westfield, but haven't gotten reports on those yet.

Made my way through the carnage and wreckage that used to be Oakton High School before the B-52 carpet bombing...for the opener in what was the Paw-zone now is the War-zone. NFG4CHS was hitting stadiums with Chick-fil-A...HE WILL NEVER SEE THE COUGS!!! In my best Animal House Bluto rant voice when they're evicting the Deltas "They tore down the Snack Bar...the whole freakin' Snack Bar!" Nothing to eat or drink...rough and a single port-a-john on the entire campus...as someone said no Don's Johns in Fallujah...so cowboy up when you head to Vienna and bring a cooler. Both teams were hurt by sickness Pickett a huge force for the O was slowed but gutted it and played (Cavs still put an athletic frosh inside her jersey for much of the first half), Kruse an engine for the Cavs couldn't get out of bed and a couple others were missing. Cavs opened on a 3 goal run but a couple of turnovers got a pair of FPS tallies for the home squad 3-2. The Cavs got three more before half. The announcer was helping the Cougs on the time at the end of the half. Cavs shot out of bounds to Cougs, Announcer "16 seconds left...16 seconds left for Oakton!" and a wag on the Cavs side yelled "Is it 16 seconds?" Cougs barely needed 16 in the second half to make it 3-6 but then the Cavs began hitting on all cylinders and dropped the next ten to get some running clock to finish it out! Good to finally get going for real!

Hey sc how liberal...was it MSNBC liberal and certainly not AOC liberal?? No really, with 8 VAR letter-winners back how deep were the Cats on the sideline as no roster is posted? The Pats only have 17 on their roster...the Cavs trotted out 24 players in Vienna and that was with three home in bed!

C'ville visits Robo

So, while last week was frigid, tonight's game is expected to be 68 degrees with Chik-Fil-A at Coffey Stadium...Come one come all...This could be the debut of a rebuilt Robo? Or it could be the beginning of the build year 2....who knows..I dont.

[post game edit]

Wasnt Centreville's day....I showed up after the JV game and saw that someone played football in Coffey stadium 24-0 ???? Not a fan of ROTS, but didnt see it, so I dont know for sure what/why....

no Chik-Fil-A tonight...good thing you didnt come UAO

Varsity Game: Robo started hot - 6-0 after 9 minutes, 10-0 after 15....13-1 at the half. Second half was an opportunity for the Rams to clear the bench, slow the game (where is the shot clock?) and give everyone meaningful minutes. Final 18-3...

[post- post game edit]

Player of the game wasnt a Ram. Cat's Goalie Sempolich had double digit saves  without her, the score would be more lopsided.

She looked good in the frigid cold against the Spartans last week. The final scores don't do justice to how well she plays.

Horses were stampeding early going up 2-1 but then...hmmm...I was going to say Marshall's biggest loss but three's a charm for Madison, so I'll go with Madison's new freshman sensation started dropping bombs on the Stallions keeper to go up 7-2 with 10 minutes left in the first half. SoCo pulled it back using their combo of Seniors & Freshmen...I exaggerate of course as the goalie is a Sophomore and a defender too I believe but they are missing an entire class! The Hawks got a FPS with 4 seconds left in the half and it was a dagger to make it 8-4. The second half was all about the home squad. Fun fact is the #20s for each team seem to be mirror images in looks and style...Sully I know for SoCo but the Hawks #20 I won't try to spell but her pronunciation changes from stadium to stadium from two types of Indians...the Native and Bombay types and the best sounded like she was a Balkan relative of Vlad the Impaler. No I didn't spill my Diet Coke on the program as I didn't have either! Three minutes late and no programs left and even parched I only brought a dollar in and sodas at Madison are $2...ugh I forgot that good deal!!! Clock ran at the end and it ended 16-5. What a difference a week makes from last Thursday having to alternate pens as one was good for about 10 minutes before the ink froze to tonight watching in shorts. Weather like this will spoil us!

From this recap, I believe Madison played a lacrosse game last night. Other than that, I have no idea what happened, except Madison offers a good deal on sodas, our correspondent enjoyed wearing shorts, and I had to change my Depends when I got to the part about "Vlad the Impaler." Trigger warning next time, please.
