I've watched him play since he was in 5th grade. He made MP's varsity as a freshman, which is ridiculously hard to do. Has a helluva shot with his feet set or on the move. Not player that's going to break ankles. Kind of a one-cut-and-go player, and he gets downhill very quickly. Garrett Leadmon might have been a bit bulkier, but he's probably a good comp for Mears.

To fill the time before fall ball starts, here's an update on IL's Top 50 recruits so far: 34 have committed, but none of the top 5. Leaders out of the gate are ND (7), Duke (5), UVa and UNC (4), and Princeton (3).

PennMensLax lands a top five recruit for the second time in three cycles with @ILPreps' No. 3 junior Jackson Maher, A, @BullisLacrosse (Md.) / @DCExpressLax. An absolute bear (6'4, 190) above the cage, Maher has 77G/25A in two years on varsity and was outstanding this summer.
