Tough opener with York this weekend. W&L took some hits to graduation on the defensive half of the field graduating outstanding goalie, 2 very good ssdm’s and a pole. I believe they will get good goal play again this season and close D will be solid. Curious who gets time at Ssdm . Thinking the offense could be slightly better than last season. York time of possession will be key W&L can’t go 4-14 at the dot, expect 20 saves get out shot 2-1 again and win this contest. W&L struggled clearing as well. If the game is out of hand in the 4th let’s see what some of the Soph’s and freshman can do as well as goalies

with all other things being relatively equal the face-off dot could be the difference and if that is true then I would say that York has a massive advantage as Facciponti won 78% of the faceoffs last year and he has more help this year as #25 has been doing well at the face-off X as well. not to mention one of the best LSMs in lacrosse on the wing. How does W&L counter? Double pole? Pole the faceoff? Move their good defenseman up to the wing. W&L was able to keep the game competitive last year even though there was a huge face-off disparity because of the great play in goal by Spags (71%), I am not certain that any of W&L's goalies will be able to replicate that number. Like I said this game appears to be pretty even on paper with the exception of the X so it seems like one of the keys to winning for W&L will be slowing down Facciponti and the York faceoff guys.

A tale of two different teams looked liked they switched jerseys. Can you say Turnovers! Have to say York won in the save department 12-3. Generals started the freshman and while he had a tough day he’s going to be good. Gives up a lot of rebounds in high school but he will be next in line in a string of strong W&L goalies. Generals out shoot York 26 to 8 in the second half equal to Yorks total in the game….Have to credit the Generals for hanging around and coming back in the second half. Schnor’s goal at the buzzer in the third started a 5 goal General run. This is something for the Generals to build on. York will be back next week and are still a top 10 team w a great coach

York had only 13 shots on goal, not a game winning formula. The freshman goalie made 3 saves for W&L. He will be fine, looking forward to a stronger game from him next outing with Catholic. The two freshmen Ssdm for W&L Beatty and Cohen were outstanding ( game balls) today and will only get better as the season goes on. I don’t believe any of the W&L midfielders scored today???sorry Lamberti got 1… W&L wasn’t quick to slide in the second half and was better when they didn’t. Face offs were solid on the day. Can’t say they played well in the first half, they didn’t. York certainly helped W&L out with numerous turnovers in the second half but credit W&L for taking advantage of the situation and made York pay for those mistakes. Lots of very young freshmen and sophomores playing big for the Generals in this one, 1st year Boyd in the cage, 1st year Ssdm Beatty 0-1, 1st year ssdm Elliot Cohen 0-1, 1st year D Datz, Soph’s, Burns 2-1 Allen 4-0, Jack Elliot, Ryan Barringer

As the the two ssdm’s Beatty and Cohen develop they could give W&L a chance to keep 2 of the opponents offensive players on the field. I think both are athletic and more than capable of carrying the ball and getting their hands free on the offensive end. They can shoot

Need to be careful, I was at the game, and from what I saw, I don't think Catholic is as good as maybe folks thought. Lost a chunk of their O from last year. Their goalie was good, he did have 18 saves, and kept if from an even worse blowout. I will say, this is one of the better starts for Coach McCabe and the Gennies, they really looked good today despite the fact that Catholic maybe isn't as good, which a good team is supposed to do, hope they continue to build on each game.

This season when it’s crunch time let Burns and Allen takeover most dependable to make the right decision or play . Porkorny is strong as well when it counts. Some really questionable decisions w the ball today when under no pressure, just throwing it away. Lynchburg looked good today especially in the first half. Let’s see what HSC and Roanoke are all about tomorrow. We also got to see more of Catholic today, they are not good

Hey they have a chance to beat Denison if they don’t beat themselves. Imagine being 4-0 with Gettysburg rolling in after they beat Salisbury today. Gettysburg will be what Monday morning 5-7 maybe. When’s the last time the Generals beat two top ten teams within the first 5 games of the year. If they play clean they can win these games and crack the top 10!
