Greatest coach of all time? Danowski? This could spark a fun debate…

I’m a Hounds fan and love Charlie of course, but anyone not looking at Tillman is crazy. The guy runs such a great program and those kids are always in the hunt.

He’s still young with many years ahead, but if I had to choose, Tillman would get my vote.
C’mon … greatest coach of all time? I’m a big fan of Coach Tillman, but he’s nowhere near that yet. Gettin’ there, but a long road ahead.

Greatest coach of the current era? It’s pretty much Bill Tierney and everyone else. Tierney took two teams (Princeton and Denver) that never won an NCAA title and turned them both into national champions. He also outlasted other great contemporaries, including Starsia and Desko (and Petro) as a head coach.

Dobson announced he is foregoing his extra year and making himself eligible for the PLL draft.

I have a question that will be more about opinions than facts unless someone knows actual facts.

My question is why would a kid that has graduated have to enter the portal? it seems if you played four years and graduated from your current school you should be allowed to talk to whomever you want. It seems to be in the current schools best interest to make kids declare.

If that is the case than they should make coaches (head and assistant) enter a portal before they are allowed to talk to other schools about openings. It seems to me like a kid would want to know if his coach is better dealing him.

“A student-athlete who graduates with remaining athletics eligibility may be eligible as a full-time postgraduate student at another Division I school provided they meet the one-time exception criteria, including providing a written request to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal to their current school by May 1 if they participate in a fall or winter sport, or July 1 if they participate in a spring sport.”

“Why” it is this way is a good question. This even applies if the school the player it at has no post-graduate programs for some reason.

you cannot generalize on why young men transfer before graduating or after. dumb to try. same for guys who don't leave when they should (e.g., anyone who inherited PM as their new coach)

Not a ton of huge names (yet). Darian Cook would be a nice get for someone.

Any reason the entire Fairfield team is in?

I thought this was the only season Graduate Students could play in the Ivy League? Is that not correct?

Schirtzer and Neuman were highly touted recruits, perhaps a change of scenery unlocks some of the potential they were thought to have.

Yes. But not sure UPenn would be a possible spot. I believe Brandau will be taking a 5th year some place other than Yale. Madronic as well.

Not disagreeing, just saying neither of those two have put their name in the portal at this point.

I know. But you said at this point Penn is a likely landing spot for next year. I thought he was a senior but not sure where he is relative to graduating. Madronic was listed in 2020 and you are right about Brandau.

Yes. And he will have another year after that if he decides to take advantage of it….unfortunately not at Yale.
