Mr3Putt wrote: Tue May 25, 2021 6:00 pm All you watch e week. What is recipe for success for the Duke offense? IMO, MATT D is letting the offense be a stand and watch Sowers be the offense team. Duke is Duke when they move the ball. Sure, give Sowers his touches but get more people involved. This is not the Ivy League, yes it’s a step above. Move the ball.

I credit Md w a strategic approach to the FO’s at ND. Sometimes they did an early release to create a 50-50’w the wingman getting involved. Nasso is a different nut. Big matchup at the dot.
You would be wrong.
Wrong about what ?
The offense being based on standing around and watching Sowers. I believe the staff has discussed trying to find a happy medium which is what the offense is principally. Might be why it seems disjointed often.
Dad your wrong ! Way too much of the little guy. Move the ball. Really good player, but he is v small. Look a Grey @ UNC . Smaller roll lately . Get everyone involved. Look @ the double at the end of the game, Loyola gut punched him.
I am just telling you how the offensive system is run. Look at his TO’s down from normal levels as he doesn’t handle the ball as much. Midfield is going to let Duke down. I believe Duke is the 4th team in the finals.
give it to caputo's kid.
That’s good offense

Outtakes from Chris Jastrzembski via Twitter
“ head coach John Danowski compared Maryland's Jared Bernhardt to Matt Danowski athletically but mentioned it's not just about one matchup, it's about the entire team matchup.”

“ Danowski commended Bernhardt's athleticism and only helps that he was a football player in HS (and perhaps again this fall).

Added that he and Wisnauskas are Batman and Robin. Noted that great combinations understand body language, what they like to do, and look for each other.”

“ head coach @CoachTillman1 on Logan Wisnauskas: Everybody in the program sees how dedicated, hardworking, and invested Logan is. Tillman likes to call him a pro, everyday you know what you’re getting. Logan’s fun is in the process of being a great player”

“ Tillman on the support from the MD community: The people here are awesome, coaches and players pull for each other. He enjoys meeting other athletes and it's fun to be with so many young people. Program means so much to so many people.”
I have been making the Matt Danowski comparison for two years. Matt was an unbelievable college player. Dripped with athleticism at Duke. So fast.
Are we really comparing JB’s athleticism to M Danowski? Danowski was a GREAT player but JB would dust him. JB is a significantly better athlete than Danowski.

This post may be sarcasm but I’m new to the board, so I don’t know.
I remember watching Matt and couldn’t believe how much better he was than everyone else and could score from multiple areas of the field much like Jared. I could live with either player.

You can’t compare Danowski vs JB. Because today they ply a matador defense, don’t check at GLE. They don’t v hold. I was waiting to see these great close defenseman for ND and they stunk! You let Nd Attackman drive on a b line and you did nothing to defend. I realize JB is great but do something . Where is the sense of urgency when he gets to GLE? Nothing! Super ugly. GTGH has speed and who’ll show an effort

They remind me of each other. Not ranking them. Shellenberger is a similar style player. Really versatile guys. In basketball they would be called “slashers”.

Duke #11 SSDM, may very well be a game changer.

I like him. You see many passes from the Duke attack to Duke midfield step down shooters?

Nope. And I also do not see much transition...which is why I believe 11, as a 5th year 1st line SSDM could be that spark....especially with that attack line. IMHO, he is better all around player than their 1st line O midfielders...and this was in HS.

Which pole gets Sowers and which gets O’Neill?

Probably Makar on Sowers and Grill on O’Neill but they switched it up last week to what I thought and had Grill on Sowers so they could go either direction. They’ll probably switch it up though throughout, I doubt either guy is on one for the entire game

Sowers has a grand total of 2 post season games under his belt

I would like to see him get to 4 for his career

but there will be some tough sledding ahead vs a very strong Maryland defense

he went (4,4) in 1st half vs Monmouth

#23 & #1 were team mates on U19s team

Personally, I'd put a shorty on Sowers until he proves he has earned more (get in his head) :P , have poles covering the wings (O'Neil and Robertson)playing sides, 3rd Pole as the dedicated slide guy anytime Sowers approaches GLE or has a step...positioning is key on the approach of that dedicated slide guy. 4th pole and 2nd SSDM are reading inside guys and taking away skip lanes. Anytime ball moves above GLE...offense goes regular.

Offensively, I'd move 23 up top like I suggested last week in the 2nd half, it seems to free up ONeil and Robertson as it forces the defense to open up.

Some good Canadians, that was a tremendous game,
Marsh King (Drexel), Ryan Lanchbury, Teat of course and
Ethan Walker, LeClair.

Tanner Cook. Riley Curtis was really good on that team. Injuries prohibited him from reaching his potential in college. Good poles too.

Duke offense continues to be less than the sum of its parts.

Sloppy game from both sides. Bernhardt the difference right now.

Maryland just plays beautiful offense. Just a pleasure to watch. I’m watching on ESPN3 and the Skycam and the ball movement is just remarkable.

I thought from the beginning of the season that Duke's offense would at some point devolve to 'give the ball to Sowers behind and let him go to work' which produced tremendous results the past 4 years. They're still trying to make it so complicated and the result is less than the sum of the parts
