Peter Brown either seething or enjoying the lack of respect for Loyola on this ff thread . Hounds winner of Patriot League 5 out of the last six seasons and a quarterfinalist last year before running into PSU. Yes, they lose Spencer and Stover but all indications are they will again be good . Wouldn't call them a outlier but rather overlooked.

Also a quarterfinalist in 2018, losing to eventual champion Yale 8-5 on an ugly, rainy, wind-swept day at Hofstra. Loyola may well be good in 2020, but, well, only four teams make the Final Four.

A couple of random thoughts about the final four:

The NCAA won't permit 2 Ivies in the final four - so you have to pick Yale or Penn or Cornell. PS, I'm hoping my Bears make some noise this year.

I'm a huge fan of Lars add his staff, but let's not forget UVA were the cardiac kids last year. Lots of comebacks that could have gone the other way. They improved as the year went on, though, so I put them in.

Sure, they shouldn't have positioned Yale and Penn in the quarterfinal last year, but this is a silly assertion.

Had Cornell beat Maryland in 2018, there would have been two Ivies in the FF. There were three Ivies in the tournament in 2014 and 2015, but all of them lost in the first round both years. 2013 was similar to 2018—had Yale beaten Syracuse (they lost by 1), they would have been in the FF with Cornell.

Back when Princeton was making Final Fours every year, there could have been a second Ivy team in the FF several times, but they usually lost before getting there. (Except in '94, when Princeton and Brown both made it, as I'm sure you'll recall.) If Yale, Cornell, and Penn continue to play well then they will eventually appear in a FF together. There is no conspiracy.

I was thinking of last year as well as 2016, when Yale and Brown would have met in the quarters had Navy not upset yale.

Duke and UVA were in same bracket and met in semis after Duke beat ND in quarters. Doubt it was a conspiracy to ensure only one ACC team in finals

i dont even see this team winning the PL and i'm an avid Loyola fan + graduate... the only indication of how the team will fare this year is the little writeup of the villanova scrimmage, where the middies could virtually do nothing against Nova. If any opposing team defense shuts down lindley and olmstead, its going to be an UGLY game
