There is no doubt that Brown can play with anyone. In May, Penn was playing as well as any team in college lacrosse, and Brown took them to the wire (with, literally, highlight reel goals). And, up by 4 goals on the eventual national champion with 6 minutes left . . . need to finish. 3 keys to the Bears' season: 1) As is usually the case, need to start well and close out the early games (Q-pac, Stony Brook, and Sacred Heart). All are good teams that can beat Brown on any given Saturday, but need to take them one game at a time, not overlook them, and play the full four quarters. 2) Need to win the close games. Last year, Brown had 7 games decided by 2 goals or fewer. Brown was 3-4. Not bad, but needs to be better. Need to find a way to win those games. 3) Need to be strong at F/O X. Actually think this could end up being an unsung strength of the team b/c 8 and 19 are so different and match up well against different guys. We shall see. Like the way the rest of the team looks. Goalie strong and close D solid (interesting to see who 3rd close d-man will be). Like the SSDDs with 11 and 27 moving to that position, and 13 and 3 returning. Like steady and stable attack unit of 40, 6 and 2. Really gelled towards end of last year, and underrated in my view. O middie strength will be driven by health. Some truly great players there if they can perform at the levels to which we have become accustomed, and need some young guns who showed great potential last year to seize the day. Can't start soon enough. Let's Go Bears!

I was definitely impressed by Brown's play against Penn in NYC, and against Yale in New Haven (two very late Yale goals meant the final score wasn't a true reflection of the contest). Knock on wood, I wouldn't be surprised if 2020 is a breakthrough year for Daly at Bruno.

Can’t wait for season, too. Hope to return to IVY tournament. While at it, why Columbia? Are other IVIES trying to convince Columbia to field a team? Parking is awful, traffic as bad and no school connection to the event. Reward the regular IVY Champs the opportunity to host the IVY Tournament??? Makes sense to me???

Here is a picture from last Sunday of the construction status of the lacrosse/soccer field house. Does it have a name yet? In any event, they were working on a Sunday but whether the team will be in it during the season is another story.

Just saw the completed fan seating on a brownwlax igram: all aluminum benches, no plastic seats as a section at PC is. Oh well, my 60 yr old keester (keister?) is used to it. My investments in butt-friendly blankets continue to be relevant. See you in 8 days! 😃🥍

Brown Athletics facebook:

Providence, R.I. - The Brown men's lacrosse team's season-opening game against Quinnipiac on Saturday, February 15 has been moved to the Brown campus at Stevenson-Pincince Field with face-off at 12:00 noon. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Hamden, Conn. and has been changed due to field conditions.

With the construction of Brown's new Center for Lacrosse and Soccer not fully completed, the main grandstand at Stevenson-Pincince Field has not yet opened. Seating for the game will be available on the far side of the field, across from the team benches and new building.

There is no admission charge for Saturday's game.

Yup. Exterior insulation a must. Interior?... let your conscience be your guide😉😂. No idea if the munchie/hot coffee/hot chocolate wagon will be available with only the far side seating open.

Really excited to see this edition of Brown State get after it. One possession at a time. Think this is as solid a team--that is flying under the radar--as Brown has had since Molloy and company left. Depth that has not existed before. Let's Go Bruno! One possession at a time!

And a good mix of classes, skewing a bit to non-seniors. Interested to see the progress from last year of course, but very curious to see frosh and any seniors who thus far haven't seen much field time but may have earned it this off-season.

Too bad this one wasn’t streamed. Stats don’t always tell the story but looks like Brown dominated most areas outside of shooting %. 11/60 shooting with the Q goalie making 21 saves to keep it close. Quiet day from the midfield. Very promising for the frosh fogo 9-12 at the dot.

Q goaltender was on fire, particularly on shots from the outside where a middie dodged to shoot.

A lot of the middie shots were low to low, and the Q goalie did a good job on them. Wonder if that was the scouting on him. When 4 & 42 were on together (usual unless one had previously got caught on D) Q poled 4, ssdm'd 42, but was fast to slide to him. If that continues, hope to see assists & 'hockey assists' rack up as team O rounds into shape.
