What is the story with Hickenlooper? He is the only liberal out there I have heard that actually sounds moderate enough to gather support from disgruntled republicans and the moderates who don't like the extreme choices from both sides. He stumbled over that GDP thing but he IMO is the best candidate the Dems have put out so far. This is the election cycle that a viable third party candidate could win.
We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents.

Hick is easily----easily---more conservative than Trump.
Want to move to a more fiscally conservative center? Vote Hick.
He needs money. Lots of it. And I can't see Hick bringing out voters. And that's what they need to win.
Only one I can think of as yet is Kamala Harris. But it's a long way to go.

Never stopped Trump. If you compare his speeches, interviews and tweets nowadays vs. just 10 years ago there is a clear mental decline. It's only helped him connect with his base though. But D voters might be a little more picky.youthathletics wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:29 pm Lunch bucket Joe not off to a very good start, slurring and mixing up words already.
There are plenty of very sharp 72-76 year olds. Unfortunately none are running for president.
Re: 2020 Elections - Off and Running
This is the tactic D's haven't really picked up on. I hear a lot of reports about people supporting Biden because he's "electable" and he may draw more Trump votes being an old white man with a blue collar background. It's a crappy strategy because D's need massive turnout to win. They have to win the popular vote by 4+ million just to win the electoral vote.
"Politics are local" may work for house races for D's, but for at least the past three decades it's been "electability vs. electricity" for the president.
Clinton had the economy tagline, but he was electric vs. Bush. The saxophone on Arsenio? electric. Bush Jr. was dull vs. a dull Gore, but he had electricity as a (fake) everyman - he was a country boy someone voters could have a beer with (both incorrect) vs. Gore who was dully telling them how to improve their grandchildren's lives. Kerry was milquetoast and lost despite the magnitude of W's flaws. Obama was electric. He had a decently electric opponent with McCain, but McCain neutered himself going far right with Palin and other policy changes vs his previous self. Romney was another Kerry. Trump was electric to an important small number of voters in a few battleground states with his confidence man pitches.
Biden can be electric. He has the potential (sorry), but it's mostly gone. In order to be electric he'll have to stick to just a few talking points regarding the pains the middle class is still experiencing. Health insurance, wage stagnation and the failures of Trump's foreign policies in how they affect farmers and manufacturers (small picture vs his big picture failures).

Your last paragraph and primarily your last sentence, is IMO, going to be quite challenging to argue against. Trump tax cuts may have made people feel some displeasure come April 15, this year....however, the general feel is that people are spending more money throughout the country. It is also easy to credit congress from spending a ton, but that is not unusual. Discretionary income appears to be at comfortable stage in peoples lives...meaning we all are spending more and pumping money into the big tax coffer. Currently tax revenue is at a solid spot and the Fed is being cautiously optimistic by managing rates rather tightly.
There is not much meat on the bone for the left to attack, because they too are big spenders, and would be pro higher taxes....that will not sway voters their way.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Bernie Sanders Is Hitting Donald Trump Where It Hurts
"What Sanders and his supporters are doing is sly. They won’t neglect the primaries and caucuses that are essential to winning the nomination. But instead of focusing exclusively on the competition with other Democrats, they are messing with Trump—with an eye toward exposing the president’s lies and reframing the fight for the battleground states.
Challenging Trump’s economic claims may not be all that is required for the Democrats to win back states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania—and perhaps Ohio and Indiana—in the fall of 2020. The party’s nominee is still going to have to make a convincing case that she or he is prepared to respond to deindustrialization, automation, and all the other challenges faced by factory workers, historic manufacturing communities, and traditional industries."

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The economy generated a stronger than expected 263,000 new jobs in April, helping to drive down the unemployment rate to a 49-year low of 3.6%. The increase in new jobs easily topped the 217,000 MarketWatch forecast. The jobless rate slid from 3.8% in March to hit the lowest level since December 1969. The average wage paid to American workers rose 6 cents, or 0.2%, to $27.77 an hour. The 12-month rate of hourly wage gains was unchanged at 3.2%. Hours worked each week fell 0.1 hour in April to 34.4. The government revised the increase in new jobs in March to 189,000 from a preliminary 196,000. February's gain was raised to 56,000 from 33,000.
Much better to run on impeachment, infanticide, anti-semitism, open borders and socialism.

Re: 2020 Elections - Off and Running
You could have had this economy at any time under Obama. Instead, you angrily TOLD him to cut spending. So he did. The sequester.
What do you think Obama would have said if you told him "Hey, we want to spend $700 Billion more on the military, and increase domestic spending on various socialist programs by $2 Trillion. What's that you say? How are we going to pay for it? Oh, we're totally just going to not only borrow money for all that new spending, we're going to drop the bottom out of corporate taxes. Turns out Republican voters don't really care about fiscal discipline. Sound good?"
Yeah. Obama would have signed off on that in about a millisecond. And the economy would have been like is here in 2019, just about 5 years sooner.
The minute Trump and his little R gets into office? He opens up the checkbook, and blows $2.7 Trillion in ADDITIONAL spending over where it was under Obama.....bills which Pelosi and company happily voted yes on. Do you care? Nope. "Suddenly", you're ok with spending now that a little R is in the White House.
There it is: the Republicans little game. You----and your reps----pretend like the $2.7 Trillion in new Federal spending have nothing to do with why the economy continues to improve. So you make a lazy acknowledgement of the spending, as if it's an accident, and has nothing to do with the overall economy.
And what's up next? More deficit spending. Pelosi and Trump have verbally agreed to $2 Trillion in infrastructure spending. Gee, do ya think that will have an effect on the economy? Naaaah. I'm sure that pumping $2 Trillion in borrowed money won't do a thing.
D's and R's. All that matters.

Job Creators Network President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz says Hispanics' job opportunites have benefited greatly from President Donald Trump's pro-business policies:
"One of the biggest beneficiaries of the Trump economy has been Hispanics, whose entrepreneurial talents have been harnessed in this climate of deregulation and tax cuts. While Democrats play class warfare and identity politics, President Trump's policies are creating a booming economy that is lifting all boats."
The unemployment rate for women in the U.S. workforce fell to 3.4 percent in April, the lowest rate since September 1953.
The unemployment for women fell below 4 percent in March 2018 for the first time since the dot com boom in 2000. It has remained below 4 percent in 12 out of the last 13 months.
Unemployment for workers without bachelor's degrees fell to the lowest rate in 19 years in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, a sign the recovery is benefiting the people most in need of help as it stretches toward a 10th year.
Unemployment for workers without four-year or graduate degrees fell to just 3.5% in April, the lowest such mark since the 3.4% rate in April 2000, which was the lowest recorded, with data going back to 1992.
That statistic, which is adjusted for seasonal variations, represents workers above the age of 25 without associate's degrees or who didn't finish college, people with only high school degrees, and high school dropouts. Those groups generally have much higher unemployment rates.

That statistic, which is adjusted for seasonal variations, represents workers above the age of 25 without associate's degrees or who didn't finish college, people with only high school degrees, and high school dropouts. Those groups generally have much higher unemployment rates.

Yep, you're right. Business owners like me love this. Until the music stops, and we have to pay the bills. Good luck with your Medicare, is all I have to say about that.
