Trump campaign staff had altercation with official at Arlington National Cemetery

"A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members would be authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.

When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source."

Absolutely disgraceful.

By some your not including me. What I don't know is if he was invited to the grave by the family. If that is the case then the dynamics have changed. If it was Joe Biden invited by family members would the sentiments be the same?? Of course if it wasn't for Joe Bidens stupidity this gathering probably would never have happened in the first place.
If invited Trump? That's great.

Pretty sure they didn't "invite" the cameras. Once again: if we're going to respect those who served. and yell at those who don't "do it right"? Great.

But pick a lane. This one set of rules for R's and one set for D's has GOT to stop.
hang on, it doesn't matter whether the family invited anybody. Cameras are forbidden by law in that area. Period. The family doesn't own that right, couldn't grant it to anyone no matter how partisan their sentiments.

What's interesting to me is that the Trump people felt entitled anyway...and guys like Youth are on here complaining that Biden and Harris weren't there for a photo op too...
If invited I'm sure Biden and Harris would have been there in a heartbeat. Then again I'm sure both would be persona non grata as far as the young Marines family is concerned. I wonder why that is? 🤔 No doubt trump broke protocol at Arlington. If the young Marines family was okay with it what's the big deal.
Military rules pertaining to this exact area. Again: either this stuff is important, or it ain't. Which is it?

And as usual, R's don't care when their guy does it, yet if this was Biden, you wouldn't hear the end of it.

And you know it, Cradle.

Cameras are always in Arlington Cemetery. I attend have attended Wreaths Across America many times, it is riddled with cameras and families taking photos, Navy MLAX, John TIllman among a few post pictures there all the time.
But not Section 60. By law.

Or are you disputing that?
It's complicated. B/c the rule is not Zero Photographs, and b/c one could consider this photo op NOT political, it would be okay.

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign. Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants. We can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed," the statement read.
Is that not clear as a bell to you?

Or are you saying that a candidate for President and their campaign staff with photographers are "immune" from the law as described above. Or just this one?

I wonder why that is? 🤔 No doubt trump broke protocol at Arlington. If the young Marines family was okay with it what's the big deal. Presidents and other dignitaries show up at Dover to get their photo ops with those flag draped coffins returning home. Is that any less disrespectful or tacky and insensitive? Or is that different in some way? The intention was to pay respect to the marine and her family. I think the Marines family was grateful for the gesture even if it was political in nature.
Why? For a campaign photo op?
Against the law.

No, I doubt very much they'd have stepped in that poop as they'd have known and respected the law.

They previously did the respectful thing, meeting the coffins on arrival and then honoring all fallen on Memorial Day.
As should any President or VP.

"The intention was to pay respect to the marine and her family."

I disagree. The far, far more likely "intention" was to posture respect, in the midst of a campaign not Presidential of VP duty, having been raked over the coals time and again recently for his disrespect for veterans, especially fallen or disabled veterans. That's why the campaign staff was there, the campaign photographers were there.

Trump's free to posture away, and the family is free to welcome it, but not in Arlington itself. Many, many families would oppose such and there's explicit law forbidding it.

Here's the thing, cradle, the picture wasn't shared by the family with their friends, it was shared by the Campaign. Shame on them for treating fallen soldiers as props.

The latest from 270towin...before Joe got pushed out Trump was up in PA & NC. Now both those states are a toss-up. If Trump wins PA, NC & GA he gets to 270. They are now 7 swing states whereas there were 5 before Joe passed the torch.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone give a thumbs up graveside or at a funeral or memorial service. Usually bowed heads, perhaps a nod to acknowledge someone, but never a sh-t eating grin and thumbs up.

I mean, are we happy there's a dead person in that grave?

Just to be clear, Trump was solidly favored to win before, but not now.

Two prior states that Trump was ahead in, but close, Michigan and Wisconsin, are now Harris likely.
PA is much closer than before, and remains pivotal.

But Trump no longer has GA and NC firmly, nor Arizona and Nevada.
Virginia had been a question mark as well, now likely Harris.

538 now puts Harris at 58% chance of winning, post RFK endorsement of Trump.

man, stop being so stubborn and perversely unobjective.

There was an altercation when cemetery staff prevented the campaign staff photographers from entering the area...they obviously weren't there to show their own respect, they were there to take pictures of a candidate "showing" (posturing) respect.

It's irrelevant as to whether the family are Trump supporters and so invited him to come or just as likely agreed when they were approached to do so. It's against the law, no matter who you are.

Grinning over a grave? Thumbs up? "rock on"?
That's respectful?

I'm not dumping on the family for getting caught up in their enthusiasm to support Trump, using their family member's grave to help him... they think...but you're darn tootin' that I'll be "judgmental" about someone asking for Americans to vote for him. Voters are supposed to make judgements.

I get it that you claim not to be either R or D, hate all politicians, but maybe that's the problem, you can't actually make clear judgments?

This is an easy call, it's against the law for a good reason and Trump doesn't care. POS proven again.

How did they or even you know that it was an intended political in nature photo? If everyone was there to show respect at the memorial and the families wanted a photo with the past POTUS and current POTUS candidate. Sheesh....you guys are are so judgmental.....look at the two ladies.....everyone is smiles and they are throwing out "rock on" hand signs...yet you want them to be crying with heads bowed...

But MAGA at every turn with you all. Stop being so darned judgmental of others.
Two of the women in the photo are flashing hand signals. I don't know what they mean. Maybe it's a S.O.S. or some RW cult hi sign. Their smiles look forced, like a hostage photo.

Interesting; thanks for posting this Pizza. Over time, you really get the feeling that JD has some kind of deep, but largely amorphous, idea that the world was better in 1952 -- everyone knew their place, knew their central role -- and it would be great if we could all just agree to go back in time.
Clearly a menace to society. They probably sit around playing Leave it to Beaver Trivial Pursuit & swap stories about childless cat ladies they know who try to make everyone around them miserable. Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.
Are you a member? :D

I don't know whether we should be "afraid" of a creeping Gilead (yes, I think so, real people are damaged when retrograde policies are enacted, whether at the federal or state level), but we certainly can expose and mock them.

Call them out into the light. See them for who they really are.

And then beat them at the ballot box.

If invited Trump? That's great.

Pretty sure they didn't "invite" the cameras. Once again: if we're going to respect those who served. and yell at those who don't "do it right"? Great.

But pick a lane. This one set of rules for R's and one set for D's has GOT to stop.
