Of course, then there is this from the WSJ - wonder if and when USN shared this with rescue teams. Seems like it could have informed their search much earlier

I thought the exact same thing you did. I was surprised by his comment but again he could be wrong but he seemed to say it with confidence. I thought he may have known something too.
Cameron was on CNN tonight for an extended interview. He said he knew Sunday that it was likely an implosion and was also aware of the USN sound detection at the same time (reported by the WSJ today)

I am wondering if anyone else will mention that the buoyancy bags were released.

Confidence confirming in our undersea acoustic detection & locating system.

That will provide a precise time of implosion to correlate with the descent profile.
Jonesy was on it....

USS Dallas was a real-life Los Angeles class nuclear attack submarine commissioned in 1979 and decommissioned in 2018.

I've been mostly watching CNN this AM, but have bounced to MSNBC and Fox several times.

CNN is close to wall to wall on Russia situation, with some last discussions of submersible disaster (which was wall to wall for 2 days, seemed like).

MSNBC is mostly rotating with lots of Russia coverage with material developed around Dodd and Roe, which was clearly the focus yesterday on the anniversary of Dodd.

Fox is rotating Hunter Biden with the "outrages" on the left in re Dodd decision...attacks on "pro-life centers"; protests outside SCOTUS judges houses, etc...haven't found them talking about Russia at all.

Wonder why...

From NYT

"A senior U.S. Navy official said that the Navy had, through acoustic analysis, “detected an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost.” The official said that the identification was “not definitive,” the information was immediately shared with the search effort, and that the decision was made to continue searching to “make every effort to save the lives on board.”"

Would still like to know how Cameron seems to know that the hull may have been breaking up and that ballast was deployed for an immediate ascent - initial reports seem to indicate that the destruction of the vehicle occurred in the vicinity just above the Titanic wreck 2 miles down

I still want to know what the TL B would go for. 40 cents? No way it’s above 60 cents on the dollar when it broke 80 at origination basically when MS and BofA got hung with it. Think about it even if you believe Fidelity’s mark, you’ve got negative FCF, every covenant has busted within 2 quarters of closing and now an a Debt to EV ratio that was like .25-.3 or so, $13Bn in $46.5Bn, and is now more or less 1:1. And that EV involves a heck of a lot of goodwill and intangibles in it.
