Re: Transfer Portal 2024

Doesn’t seem like too much left if this Summers portal to choose from, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see the first commits be 2025s that flip next month. I also think some players will look to transfer in December. USF seems to be a good bet there because they will need to start trimming their roster. FSU can get a few players who will have several years of D1 practice experience under their belts to jump start their program if they stick with the 2026 start date. At that point FSU will need bodies.
I am expecting 2025s as well. Think we will see a few 2024 USF kids next year.SweeptheLeg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:10 pmDoesn’t seem like too much left if this Summers portal to choose from, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see the first commits be 2025s that flip next month. Don’t get me wrong, I think USF is struggling with their approach and made some bad decisions on girls but also on numbers as you all mentioned. Think it’s worse when they will cut girls before stepping onto campus since the commitment was made but unless I am reading things wrong, the roster cap is only if the schools choose to partipate and schools outside the big 5 conferences like usf don’t have to partipate and can just keep status quo correct?Relax77 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:13 pmI am expecting 2025s as well. Correct but I still think some USF girls will be heading to FSU regardless of the roster cap.Dad2laxgirls wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 10:30 pmDon’t get me wrong, I think USF is struggling with their approach and made some bad decisions on girls but also on numbers as you all mentioned. I have to think Blackwell, the star of EMU (from MD) would likely be one of the first.Relax77 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:13 pmI am expecting 2025s as well. Yep. Would make sense her and a few others from EMU.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 9:42 amI have to think Blackwell, the star of EMU (from MD) would likely be one of the first.Relax77 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:13 pmI am expecting 2025s as well. I am betting USF will surprise some people this year. They for sure will lose some underclassmen due to some good work in the portal. I am betting they are set up for a successful 1st year and beyond, certainly if they can replace some sr/grad departures next season, while letting a good 24’ recruiting class take the reignsDad2laxgirls wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 10:30 pmDon’t get me wrong, I think USF is struggling with their approach and made some bad decisions on girls but also on numbers as you all mentioned. I will be curious to see what USF does with its non-conference schedule. Will they take a Clemson approach and play an easy a schedule as possible to get some wins or challenge themselves? In conference, I don't expect them to be anywhere near JMU or Florida and probably at the Vanderbilt level.Strictnine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:24 amI am betting USF will surprise some people this year. I wouldn’t be surprised. I think USF will be good right out of the gate. Top 20. No. Competetive with 20-50. Yes. They look like they are all in, like a few other schools. Their location and the money they are throwing around should have them towards the top 1/3 of schools. They certainly can end up like Florida after a few years.Strictnine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:24 amI am betting USF will surprise some people this year. I'm guessing it won't be super tough out of conference, but I'd expect they'll still have a Florida on the schedule (even with them now being Big 12). It will be interesting to see how the year plays out. I'd expect them in the top 4 of the American, which makes the conference tourney, but can't see them standing toe to toe with JMU quite yet.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:44 amI will be curious to see what USF does with its non-conference schedule. FLA no longer in conf….. It sounds like USF will be past the Vandy level. But we have to wait and see. Thats why they play the games!LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:44 amI will be curious to see what USF does with its non-conference schedule. FWIW, when they played in fall ball, she was primarily a feeder, in a C Wurtz kinda role. Problem is that in settled play, USF doesnt have the athletes to get open on cuts.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 4:26 pm The bigger issue is the coaches have gone all in on Chepenik as the face of the team and she might be their third or fourth best attack. USF had a really good 2025 class in my opinion. A few of those kids will be able to thrive in he offense you describe. Also they recruited an attacker who will be switched to middie. You may be right for this year but I expect three to four of those 2025s to start and play well unless they hit the portal next year and get better players. Still going to be fascinating to see. I can’t wait to see what happens September.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 5:08 pmFWIW, when they played in fall ball, she was primarily a feeder, in a C Wurtz kinda role. In all of the USF discussion, what hasn't been touched on enough is USF's Loyola Marymound style of play. It worked at Jacksonville to an extent when USF had better athletes than most of its opponents until it got to the NCAA. Then they had to play more of a slower paced game and they generally got outclassed .
