You are being WAAAAY too kind here. Effing moron would be more descriptive. Imbecile would also work as you wouldn't need any adjectives.

Thermonuclear a-hole would almost be perfect.
Yet still not all that many years ago trump was the darling of the left wing NYC elite social butterflies. There were not many NYC Democrat politicians that I'm aware of that turned down trumps campaign checks. Then they had an epiphany as to who trump really was. That fact might have coincided with trump saying he was now a Republican and would run against HRC. Is there anyone out there in fanlax forum land that actually believes trump is a Republican?
He is neither. Just a uniformly mega-douchbag.
Doesn't explain the love liberal NYC Democrats use to feel for trump. Was it possibly they just loved the quid pro quo about taking trumps money while greasing the skids for his buildings? Naaah, couldn't be possible..

And incidentally, did anyone catch the "press conference" yesterday with the cereal? I love cereal.

One spot: Moron says "We're gonna have a crash like a 1929 crash." At the same time, the Fox chyron just below the Fruit Loops cereal shows the Dow is up 554 points today. Fox promptly removes the stock ticker and chyron.

He's old, mentally ill, and worsening.

Nope, not a "Republican" and not a conservative.

Of course they took his checks. Then he hollowed out and controlled a "party" full of Congressman and women and Senators that allowed the monster to take over, and created a voting base that they cannot now afford to lose themselves. The Result: constant debasement of themselves. Constant excuses for the Moron's racism. Constant repackaging of the crazy sh*t he says and does.
Yup - and I will re-post the YouTube clip of Meryl Streep saying it out loud to great effect (and the clip is from the WSJ) - not only the racism
but the crass, abusive treatment of other people often just for the fun of it. Watch till the end.

I'd also disagree with the notion that Fatso was ever universally loved in NY over the years. Most people hated his guts but his money was green like everybody else's.

I don't believe I have disrespected the retired SMs 24 years of service in any way. That being said I'm entitled to my opinion that his timing to retire is potential point of contention to people. It has been so from some of the soldiers that served in his unit. At the end of the day the retired SM made his decision and I get that. Some of the peripheral issues that came up once he was chosen to be the VP candidate SHOULD have been caught and addressed during the vetting process. The simple act of questioning the timing of his retirement doesn't equate to disrespecting his service or smearing his record. Some of his own soldiers questioned the timing.
I'm not ripping you, cradle, and you are certainly correct that the issue was raised, including by some soldiers that served in his unit. However, it's quite clear what actually happened in his decision making and the timing of it, and it's also quite clear that soldiers from his unit, including some who don't actually agree with him politically, disagree with soldiers attacking his decision. They see those attacks as partisan and unreasonable and unseemly. And they see the Stolen Valor charges are entirely outrageous and dishonorable.

The attacks then and now are indeed smears, intentional smears. JD Vance's attacks are indeed smears...no question about his motivation, and that, on its face, should be rebuffed... and hard. They do dishonor to himself and those who echo him.

Salty's perpetuation of those smears is dishonorable in the same way.

And enormously hypocritical.

So, that's what is being challenged here.

Sorry, but you really are completely full of sh*t. And you know it, and everyone here knows you know it.

The benefit of the doubt would be simply to credit the fact that he served for 24 years, rather than getting on the subjective swift boat train that you have boarded. Will you be talking about Trump's service? About his relentless lying and gaslighting to work his way into becoming the Commander-in-Chief of folks like Walz? About his debasing treatment of women and people of color in the course of his lifetime? About his mockery of veterans? About his mockery of disabled people? About his blindingly obvious diminished and diminishing mental acuity? About his astonishingly demented "press conference" yesterday?

“And don’t forget they sell hats.”
Big difference between Kerry & Walz. Unlike Swift boats, no combat duty involved, no fabrications or exaggerations to earn combat awards. Walz served admirably.

Trump's non-service is irrelevant, unless you include everyone of his generation who was 4F or used a student deferment.

Vance has never implied that he saw combat. He did deploy to a war zone & was at risk as a result. He does not brag about his weapons training or that he carried a rifle when embedded & operating "outside the wire"...even though Every Marine is a rifleman.

Walz is a master communicator. That's why he's a VP candidate. As a HS social studies teacher, HS FB Coach, & a Master Sergeant (E-8) functioning as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9 assignment) he knows how to explain his service in a way that can't be misconstrued that he saw combat duty, deployed to Afghanistan, or was not aware of his unit's coming deployment to Iraq when he elected to retire.
I would not call it Stolen Valor.
Totsl BS. No equivalence at all,

To be clear Walz was retired before the order to his unit was received. Vance is a POS. His Hillbilly elegy is pretty much a fraud. He is a chameleon for sale.

To no ones surprise the issue was turned into a political football to be kicked back and forth. The fact that has happened should come as no surprise to anyone. I'll say it again the people charged with vetting the retired SM could have nipped the majority of the criticism in the bud. The criticism of the timing of his retirement was always going to raw meat for the Republicans to gnaw on. At the end of the day that was what the retired SM chose to do. He served his country with valor and earned the right to go out on his own terms.

There are people in the chain of command in his unit that were aware in November that the unit was scheduled to be deployed. That will be looked at by both sides quite differently. The retired SM was in no way obligated to deploy and I respect his decision to retire when he did. There is also a part of me that wishes he had chosen to do so. He was never obligated to deploy and I can honestly understand why. He had decided it was time to end his military career and move on to something else.

Almost correct.

Given the war was dragging on and on, of course there were rumors that another deployment could be happening at some future point, but no one knew when and no one knew where. Walz had already deployed once because of the war, just didn't happen to be in the combat zone. Left his family and school behind to serve when called. After 24 years, well beyond retirement age for pension, having stayed in post 9-11, Walz felt a desire to serve his country in a different way, as encouraged by his students. He made that decision way before any sort of sharpening of expected timing of a future deployment, much less location, was available. And he wrestled for a bit with the question as to whether he could fairly campaign for Congress if he was going to get called to deploy, regardless of where. He realized he needed to do formal retirement because of that choice.

One thing that seems a bit lost is that Walz opposed the war in Iraq, thought it was mistake. Part of his decision to go to Congress was to be able to speak against continuing in that war. He says he felt he could do more for the country in that role than continuing in the Guard. Whether one agrees with that view or not, it's an entirely honorable position.

A friend of mine told me that TO came by my gym a couple of weeks ago. Even got a picture with him. Apparently TO was looking for a woman. Unfortunately for TO, the woman had a restraining order out against him so the cops were called. Unlucky for me, I missed all the excitement and got to see none of it.
