Re: Maryland 2020

Just waiting to see who comes back for Jan 5 practice. Grades? Homesick? Competition?
The Terps had a incoming freshman named Dylan Pallonetti this fall. Of course, there isn't a current roster up for the Terps.
Every team loses players. D1 in any sport is a brutal sacrifice. 20% scholarships, if even that much, is just not worth it to a lot of college kids. Same for every school, not just Maryland.
Looking at last years roster there were 46 players at seasons end with a total of 10 seniors. Add on 15 incoming frosh per Inside Lacrosse and the 4 fall transfers. Total fall roster looked like 55+ , which leads to the belief that there were at least 8 or more cuts to be had. Then there are the fall exit meetings where Tills rips the guts out of 18 and 19 year olds by telling them they will never play at UMD to see if they will fold up tent and bounce. The reason for that method is to make room for whatever transfers will show up in January because there are at least 2-3 that haven't been revealed yet. Call it homesick , competition or gamesmanship it is his (Tills) stick and his ball and if you don't like it too bad.
Actually, the Terps' roster count was 49 at the time of the Villanova game, with #20 Jack Wilson having left early in the season, so the Terps' roster probably numbered 50 at the start of the season. (#30 Brosh, #33 Avanato and #41 Decker are left off the roster you refer to). Matt LeCompte was listed as being on the transfer portal at the end of the Spring.Realguy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 11:41 am Looking at last years roster there were 46 players at seasons end with a total of 10 seniors. Almost as good as having Fatty around.PulpExposure wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 3:47 pm Oh yeah! Realguy is back character assassinating Tills again. Missed you, bud.*
* Not really. I really hope you find a new hobby that's healthier for you besides this unrelenting hate.
Shockey is a STAR ! Where has he been all fall ? Oh that's right he got suspended and the only reason he is allowed back is because Tills would never allow one of his prodigy's to look bad because it makes him look bad. Please don't call a 50% draw guy who went 10/30 in the playoffs last year a STAR ! Rambo was and is a STAR, Jared Bernhardt is a STAR please stop throwing accolades around so loosely. I only hope those kids that get mentally abused in order for Tills to make space for incoming transfers land on their feet and keep their heads on straight. College lacrosse should be a great experience and in the end it's about getting an education. Cooter you talk about the other guys who left like you are in the know when in fact you know very little.Cooter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 1:30 pmActually, the Terps' roster count was 49 at the time of the Villanova game, with #20 Jack Wilson having left early in the season, so the Terps' roster probably numbered 50 at the start of the season. In pictures of the team this fall, I think maybe there were 53-54 Terps.
This would mean more like 3 or 4 players will leave the team.
While that is an interesting emotional embellishment of yours about ripping guts out, I think it is a quality of a good coach to let his players know where they stand.
While occasionally UMd brings in a star at mid-year like Justin Shockey ( 2 years back), most of the additions to UMd's roster at mid-year seem more like reserve players, and make it seem like most of the mid-year additions are needed to keep up roster-size...So perhaps the number of mid-year additions will be low this January.
Shocky was a huge star coming out of HS, but Im sure you know that.Realguy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 10:11 pmShockey is a STAR ! Where has he been all fall ? This picture of the team on Oct 5 shows 53 players.
Mentally abused is a strong charge. Direct conversations and honest appraisals are not abusive but seem to be received and labeled as such by many in this generation. Many d1 rosters have 50 players and only half will see the field. Disgruntlement seems to occur when players and parents arrive with closed eyes and false expectations. All are recruited because they are good prospects and some are enlisted only after more favored recruits went elsewhere. Chances are only a 1/3rd of every class will see significant pt over their careers and even most of those wont really hit field until later stages. Didn't care for the idiocy of early recruiting and not a fan of programs heavily using expanding transfer pool but all major d1 are suitors when it fits. Tillman may run his program like a business but doubt he made false promises to anyone nor unlikely he is a Moreland Smith character. College isnt high school and d1 college lax certainly isn't high school lax.Realguy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 10:11 pmShockey is a STAR ! Where has he been all fall ?
