I didn't catch the second instance, but while watching the first I actually thought, "oh, someone is going to ask about this on the forums!" Simultaneous fouls are probably the trickiest rules in the whole game, and you'll sometimes even see refs mess it up.

Barnard has always been a great recruiter, finding gems late in the Cac' recruiting process, typically over-looked by traditional D3 powerhouses. Justin Pearl out of Westport CT and Tim Sommer of Mamaroneck are a couple recent stallions that come to mind. Finding athletic, underrecruited mids has paid off for Barnard in the past, but especially this season. Gritty. Coupled with stellar goalie play, Hamilton is a formidable opponent this year.

Love a good nescac midweek gauntlet. If my buddy wasn't sweating Cornell +2.5 and ML, I would've had 3 screens of 'cac ball. Getting into the thick of things here, but still so much to find out about these teams.

Bowdoin 16, Bates 14: This one was tied well into the 2nd Q before a big bowd run, and Bates brought it all the way back into the 4th. Didn't get eyes on the game but if Bates had won I would've gotten on a flight to lewiston immediately. Heard its a rowdy time. F*** I wanted this one for the bobcats. They deserve a sick win.

Tufts 17 Williams 15: Not sure who choked harder, cuse or williams. Up 9-1 in q2 and then no goals in the last 6 mins of the game is brutal. I know the Williams golf course just opened up but the boys should not be allowed to play. If they had just lost a close 17-15 game, everyone would be praising them.

Hamilton 10 Midd 4: Midd mid Midd mid. The continentals protected Fort Withiam by sitting back in their zone iron curtain with Jack (Hector the Rejector) Fried in net saving 22 shots. Healy has 8 straight points between mid 2nd and 3rd quarters to put a stamp on this game. Reece hickey dominates brendan.

Colby 11 MIT 9: non-cac game. don't care.

Wes 12 Amherst 11: Another good tilt. DJ Dixon chokes a empty net goal and Amh runs down the field to get it to 12-11 in the most nescac form ever (3 BTB passes to a doorstep G). Amh almost ties it up at the buzzer but falls short.

Anyone have insight as to why Middlebury is a middle of the road team this year? Seems like a lot of people got it wrong since Middlebury and Bowdoin were supposed to be heads above the rest. While Bowdoin has disappointed, seems like Middlebury just laid a turd for this season. Any analysis on both teams would be helpful.

Just my thoughts:

Middlebury: lacking outside shooting power? Only saw a bit of the game, but Hamilton just sat in a tight zone and trusted their goalie to save outside shots and it worked well.

Bowdoin: Still strong. Only L's coming from out of conference. From what I have seen - D is a high trust/slow to slide D which can cause problems if there are matchup issues.

NESCAC is wide open in my opinion. The only team I see that is above the rest is Tufts and both Williams and Colby just gave them a game.

Because last year was an extreme outlier compared to the past 15 years?

It seems that no one has acknowledged that the Game of the Year is being played in New London tonight. The Bantams travel to sunny New London to take on the Camels in what looks to be a make it or break it game for both sides. Certainly some massive playoff implications on the line.

To join in on the gambling theme here, I’m setting the Bantams as a -1.5 pt favorite over the Camels… which brings me to my next point… CAMELS ML +115 is the nuclear piss missile whale play of the year.

Interested to hear how others see this one playing out, certainly a low scoring affair, but I think the camels walk away with a big W to keep their season and the #8 seed dream alive.

What I've seen so far is Williams doing a great job of avoiding the Tufts pressure and ride. Keeping an attackman in the far corner of the field to dump it to if anyone is under pressure.
Correct. Tufts showed a great ability to ride momentum, as they have in recent years. But that momentum was bookended by two manufactured 2-man up opportunities. The first one neeeded a 2 minute delay to be sorted out by the refs. If you need 2 minutes to convince your support staff that it’s a 2-man up, it isn’t.

How many 2-man ups do we see on a weekly basis? Not too many, but I’d imagine most are committed by the team down big getting desperate, not the team up by 8, or 2 of them back to back by the team dominating for that matter.
Was that a rhetorical question ccR? And what is the appropriate amount of time to sort out penalties? Please enlighten us, oh sage one!!

Was absolutely the correct adjudication, if anything should have been two 1-minute penalties as I would argue that there was contact against a player with more than just their feet in contact with the ground (but that's irrelevant to the question of if two players should be in the box). In any case, what happened the lead official didn't realize that the trail had thrown a flag earlier the the play, so when he called a technical for a loose-ball push he should have thrown a second flag while also killing the play.
I guess that explains the extraordinary delay that contributed to a huge game altering momentum switch. Does the same apply to the second 2 man up opportunity called just minutes later?
Bitchin about the refs.......cry me a river!!

Going to be a great battle! I also have the Camels. I expect them to come out flying in order to get their first NESCAC win.

Great analysis Humpdaddy. Only fitting that the Battle for CT (no one cares about Middletown) is being played in a hurricane. Bantams will need to bring their A game as the Camels tend to tap into their inner military industrial complex and go full attack submarine when the weather gets bad on the sound (Dannolfo would relocate his entire jordan collection to a fallout shelter in this weather btw). Expect big things out of Tenzer tonight, he’s memorized the entirety of Moby Dick in preparation. Hammering Conn +115 tonight.

Don’t know if this is Game of the Year material though, have to imagine the Battle of New London (UCGA vs CONN) will open InsideLacrosse’s eyes to the wagon that is the North. Winner gets the Mohegan Sun. Conn by 3 in an instant classic, Raineville goes for 5 and 2, and UCGA gets relegated to the CCC.

Amen!
Say it louder for the people in the back.

NESCAC lacrosse takes that you disagree with are open for you to argue. BUT so are the positions that you take! This idea that ANYONE who doesn’t yield to you is; a troll, a clown, a d**k, or has some dreamt up personal vendetta is sad.
Strap on a helmet, because life’s tough.
From a non-NESCAC, non-CLC, non-Liberty League Dad:

In reality there can be 2 truths: there can be some NESCAC over-sensitive defense of the league and there also can be an overzealous anti-NESCAC biased stance that is sometimes clearly trolling mixed in with some truths which has hilariously made its way to the liberty league forum. I, for one, find it fascinating to read because I can understand the former but I am curious as the pathogenesis of the latter. But please dont stop with the sometimes-good insight intermixed with the biased trolling. However, there is no need for anyone to strap on a helmet because this is just an online forum - this is not tough and has no parallels to real life; its purely entertainment

LL > NESCAC this year; it may be 2 bid league for the NESCAC.
I would say the last few dozen or so pages that consisted of; posting someone’s boss’s name, getting someone banned for making DI comparisons, name calling, allegations of someone having a personal vendetta with a coach, allegations that someone’s kid used to be on a team, qualify as just a tad more than “some NESCAC over-sensitive defense.”

And I’m glad you understand those instances as a response to criticism, because I don’t. What I can understand is someone not being a fan of those who behave like that. So if I was looking to find a root cause of the “latter” in your statement, I’d actually just look to the “former.”

A healthy pre-season conversation about Middlebury (that it turned out was in fact needed), simply couldn’t happen.
“Strap on a helmet” is a figure of speech, a-kin to “toughen up,” which also fits well.

I agree that 2 truths can exist, and here’s another example; me being critical of a conference or team, and me not actually disliking or possessing bias against that same conference or team (though I feel one coming on after interacting with their fan base).

I’m moving on.
Again, and hopefully for the last time, -choochoo out
