You say too much that kills trees without adding anything and value, fact, merit or reason. Stan one in the back. Of course you call someone out and everyone whines like a little victim girl too. It’s playing the victim game. We know you’ve got it down to a T as a fearful old man who is afraid of leaving his shadow.

Forgive me, but this is a really ridiculous comment. No one stabs YA in the back, and I have no idea what makes anyone "cowardly" for responding to his sometimes foolish re-posts from his social media consumption. We are -- I should say I am -- simply disagreeing with him and questioning the manner in which he appears to curate news and information, both as to sources and content. I do participate in social media, but recognize that social media posters almost always have deep seated agendas that they are using the news to push and support. As you probably know, I tend to rely on mainstream newspapers for my news: the NYT, the WP, and the WSJ. I am certain each has its limitations, but they are, by and large, good sources of information.

Take the post by this guy Collin Rugg, which YA re-posted on FanLax the other day, about the sit-in or protest in the Speaker's Office over a federal program called PEPFAR, the "President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. This was authorized by GWB's administration and has proved to be enormously successful in managing this disease and educating people on how to avoid it, and reducing both deaths and the spread of the disease. Rugg's post -- and frankly, YA's posting here of it and his editorial comments along with his post -- attempted to equate the events of January 6 with a sit-in at the Speaker's Office by these "activists" supporting reauthorization of PEPFAR.

The comments made by folks here after YA posted this -- including comments by me -- tried to note to the distinctions that exist between the January 6 assault and assaulters, on the one hand, and the apparently peaceful (if irksome) occupation of the Speaker's Office by a small group of people who appear to have been sitting on the floor of McCarthy's outer office. This is not a narrow, abstract distinction, and required no nuance to make the distinction.

YA actually says that what he "bring[s] to the table is a glimpse into the world that votes based on the news clips of social media, the very 30 second clips, 240 character posts, that lead them to their vote." Some of us here, me included, are saying, "Yes, exactly: 30 second clips and 240 characters is the perfect vehicle for dumbing down and distorting almost any debate of any consequence." We, including YA, can do better, and the way to do that is to use our ability to discern and distinguish the events of the day and not simply lazily equate them for political purposes. There's no backstabbing here.

If people we’re modestly introspective they’d take heed as this future can happen to anyone. Anything good, any positive contributions made over time get completely lost in a black hole and legacies can be destroyed.

Can happen to anyone. And does as evidence exists all around us.

Trump has left a lot of folks like this in his wake. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets off these charges but many of his cronies go to jail… it’s laughable and predictable.

Another right wing tRumpite gets sentenced:

Speaking of Jan 6th Insurrectionists, "Bullhorn Lady" Gets 57 Months In Prison.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/1 ... medium=web

You have to love what they call the “split screen” for the last couple of days with regards to the Jan 6th insurrection. One of the leaders of the insurrection gets 200 votes from his fellow House Republicans to become speaker of the House, while one of the foot soldiers is sentenced to 57 months in prison. Jim Jordan is still on an upward trajectory and has not faced any accountability for his actions before and on Jan 6th. Meanwhile, Rachel “Bullhorn Lady” Powell ends up in prison.

And who is Bullhorn Lady Powell?

A Pennsylvania mother of eight known as “Bullhorn Lady” since she was identified as a window-smasher and boastful obstructionist at the tip of the pro-Trump mob’s spear on Jan. 6, falsely believing her preferred candidate won the 2020 election, has been sentenced to serve several years in prison for numerous crimes.

Rachel Marie Powell, now 43, was convicted months ago of all nine charges she faced following a May bench trial before Senior U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee. Those charges included interference with a law enforcement officer during civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, destruction of government property, and several standard Jan. 6 misdemeanors for breaching the Capitol.

Yeah. Mom of eight, and she decides to overthrow our democracy. Get ready for the deep dive into delusion, grievance, and remorselessness ladies and gentlemen.

Besides smashing a window, she had a bullhorn and was cheering on her fellow insurrectionists. Ronan Farrow interviewed Powell, and this is what she had to say:

“Listen, if somebody doesn’t help and direct people, then do more people die?” Powell asked. “That’s all I’m going to say about that. I can’t say anymore. I need to talk to an attorney.”

She was only trying to direct people to save lives. Violent people fighting with the cops and trying to break into the Capitol Building. No biggie.

Did I mention that she posted on social media a mask she was ordered to wear during the COVID-19 pandemic?

So she was busy giving a big f**k you to the federal judge. Bullhorn Lady had to apologize to the judge, but she wasn’t done being an jerk. Nope.

She went on Steve Bannon’s podcast to complain she was the real victim here.

Republican traitor got off easy. Should have been twice as long.

Sidney Powell pleading guilty in Georgia trial court right now.

Sidney Powell just pled guilty before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee to 6 counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with the performance of election duties.

Trump lawyer Sidney Powell has cut a plea deal and is expected to plead guilty in Georgia one day before her trial begins. She has agreed to testify in future proceedings as part of the plea deal. Fulton County prosecutors are recommending a sentence of six years probation. Powell will also be required to testify at future trials and write an apology letter to the citizens of Georgia.

As part of her guilty plea, Powell is admitting her role in the January 2021 breach of election systems in rural Coffee County, Georgia. With the help of local GOP officials, a group of Trump supporters accessed and copied information from the county’s election systems in hopes of somehow proving that the election was rigged against Trump.

She has agreed to testify in future proceedings as part of the plea deal.

Certainly possible - He may be next. :(

I'd also expect Powell to try and make a deal to avoid indictment in the Federal case as well (even though she has not yet been charged but identified as a co-conspirator.). I think her testimony at GA trial and proffer are all facts the Feds can use if they decide to charge her federally as part of the January 6 case.

From Andrew Weissman -
"To be clear, any statements Powell makes can be used against her if she is federally charged, which is why it would be unusual NOT to have a global resolution of the case. My guess is she tried to, and asked the Feds and he said you would d have to plead to a felony to get a deal in that case."

Pretty hard to practice law with a felony conviction.

Strange questions from strange times.

Her plea deal reduces the charges to 6 misdemeanor counts plus no jail time only probation (6 years). Also $8,700 if fines and restitution to the state.

Yeah, sorry; that's the point. If Chesebro gets the Kraken Deal, he can still practice I think.

Makes perfect sense.
