Silver Spring is $72k and Bethesda is a whopping $154k. We're not talking about DC's poor areas. The last three cities you cite, are heavily and densely populated with lower income families,with very high proportions of apartment housing, especially in the surrounding zip codes.

My cousin lives in Portland. One son is an engineer at Microsoft and the other just finished his BS in engineering at Stanford and going through offers. Again, I'm not saying anything negative about the Purple Line, just that it isn't remotely comparable to what the Red Line was designed to do in terms of structural racism and poverty.
I tend to think of Silver Spring as more middle class, and it goes down hill a bit as you go towards the umd.
