I’m sure the resident Dems are upset that 90% of the above has occurred in Democrat-run states?

Numbers from Worldometer.info just now (deaths):

Massachusetts = 6148
Texas = 1486
Florida = 2190
Maryland = 2207
Georgia = 1783
Ohio = 1840
Indiana = 1913
South Carolina = 416
Mississippi = 580
Arizona = 763
Alabama = 533
Missouri = 672

Total for the top dozen states run by Rs = 20,531 which is well over 20% of the total of over 96500.

Everyone should be upset that so many people have died - no matter what state they live in, or whose party their governor is from. If you look at the major air travel centers in decreasing order of international passengers (2018) - NYC (JFK/EWR), LA (LAX), Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR) SF (SFO), Chicago (ORD), - only one is in a state where there is an R guv, and that airport primarily serves places south where there was little early infection.

So it is not that surprising that the major breakout centers are in states led by D governors.

It is also no surprise that in the transition to a service economy much of the action is in those same areas where the international travel is high...

Look at the bright side. Not a one of them has awoken from the dead and started eating anybody still living.

Biden quotes:

Obama is “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate & bright & clean & nice-looking guy”

It just shows how poorly run Dem states are. Yikes you’re bad at this.

AP report: state of New York — ordered by governor Andrew Cuomo — sent over 4,300 elderly hospital patients sick with coronavirus back into nursing homes. This was like pouring gasoline on a fire, helps to explain why New York’s death toll has been so bad.

This is the single worst decision made by any elected official in the country. It was a complete & total disaster spurred by the fear hospitals were going to be overloaded. NY literally sent the sickest & most vulnerable to spread the disease among the sickest & most vulnerable.

This is why media relying on these fear porn models was such a disaster. NY forecast they would need 140k hospital beds. They ended up needing just 19k. Reality was they had plenty of space for nursing home patients in hospitals, but fear porn models made them think they didn’t.

Yet @CNN proclaimed him our Coronavirus lord and savior. Wonder why? Dude botched the coronavirus response to the nth degree. Belongs in jail for what he did to those nursing homes. @NYGovCuomo BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS

On the issue of mail in ballot fraud:

https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/12 ... mp4?tag=10

Fox News anchor Ed Henry interviewing Chris Wallace.
Chris Wallace pours cold water on Trump's mail-in voting lies

Wallace: "There really is no record of massive fraud, or even serious fraud from mail-in voting ... When people get their ballots and mail them in themselves, no history of fraud at all."
Fox Anchor Ed Henry followed up by repeating an idiotic point about how Amazon packages can get stolen

Wallace: That strikes me as a reach here. And again, the history is there's very little indication of fraud ... Don't we want to make it as easy for people to vote as possible?

Huh. Taking a break from Stupid, this is interesting:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... story.html

"The smallest state has the smallest governor. Rhode Island’s Gina Raimondo is almost 5 feet 3 inches, about an inch shorter than James Madison. What was said of him is true of her: There is a high ratio of mind to mass. Unfortunately, a perversity of today’s political culture is that those with the most time and inclination for full-time self-promotion, such as U.S. senators, eclipse those, such as governors, who are preoccupied with serious responsibilities.

After Harvard (where she played rugby), Oxford (she was a Rhodes Scholar) and Yale Law School, she was an early recruit to a venture capital company whose premise was, she says, that “you could find talent all over the country,” not just in hotbeds such as Austin and Silicon Valley. Then she founded an affiliated fund specializing in health care. “My mother actually started crying” when, in 2010, Raimondo ran to be treasurer of the state with the nation’s highest per capita unfunded pension debt.

Pensions, which soon would have swallowed 20 percent of state revenue, were threatening to starve social services. Including the Providence Public Library, where Raimondo’s grandfather, who, arriving from Italy at 14 with little education and less English, studied to improve his chances. As state treasurer, she told “crowded, angry union halls” that cities and towns might go bankrupt and that promised pensions would disappear. Her reforms — pausing cost-of-living increases, raising the retirement age and the ratio of defined contribution to defined benefit plans — passed Rhode Island’s House 57-15 and the Senate 35-2.

When she ran for governor, Rhode Island had the nation’s highest unemployment rate. The state had been the nation’s — arguably, the world’s — jewelry workshop, until much of the manufacturing decamped to China. The exodus included the Bulova watch company, which had employed 1,000, including her father, who became unemployed at 56. She wears a Bulova on her wrist but says that the main reason she ran for governor was that previous administrations had not repositioned Rhode Island for a changed world. She has done this by entrepreneurial federalism — making the state attractive to business, including the nation’s first offshore wind farm.

Raimondo has cut taxes every year and removed 8,000 pages of regulations — 30 percent of the state’s regulations. Economic dynamism has enabled her to raise the state minimum wage to $11.50, create a sick leave entitlement and finance the largest infrastructure program in the state’s history. Thanks to the G.I. Bill, her father, the son of a meat cutter, became the first in the family to go to college, and his daughter has delivered tuition-free community college.

Partnering with CVS, the nation’s largest pharmacy chain, headquartered in Woonsocket, her state has achieved one of the nation’s highest per capita levels of testing for covid-19. Her approval rating has soared during the pandemic. An anxious nation longing for competence in the national government might turn its lonely eyes to her, if it knew of her.

There often is, however, a disproportion in the allocation of media attention to political figures: an inverse relationship between a political person’s substantive achievements and the froth of publicity surrounding her or him. The Senate, the incubator of presidential aspirations, is an arena for the gesture politics of virtue signaling. It encourages the misapprehension that striking poses solves problems, and it develops no skills germane to the executive tasks of managing vast organizations and applying aspirational statutes to recalcitrant reality.

Joe Biden’s choice of a running mate will matter to the electorate’s large moderate majority more than such choices usually do, for two reasons. Biden will be 78 on Jan. 20, 2021. And his choice will indicate whether the trajectory of the world’s oldest party will be determined by its left-wing minority that strenuously opposed his nomination, or by the party’s temperate majority, which produced the Democrats’ 2018 success.

The Democratic left, with its addiction to indignation and its aversion to practical politics, might recoil from Raimondo because she understands the enormous financial sector of a nation now chin-deep in red ink. And because she had the impertinence to persuade crucial Democratic constituencies — public employees unions, including those of teachers — to support difficult choices. After defeating a left-wing primary challenger by 24 points, she was resoundingly reelected in one of the nation’s bluest states, and then became chair of the Democratic Governors Association.

A Biden-Raimondo ticket would achieve the left’s primary goal, the removal of Donald Trump. And the resulting administration would restore adult supervision in Washington

Tara Reade's attorney (Douglas H. Wigdor), a noted #METOO attorney, has dropped Ms. Reade as a client.

Maybe because there are people in Monterey County, CA looking at the possibility that Ms. Reade lied about her credentials when testifying in multiple cases as an expert witness there...

She claims she has an undergraduate degree, but university says no. She says special circumstances (spousal abuse of her) led to direct awarding of degree by head of U, while U now says no such thing exists. Only written record is law school reference to said degree on its transcript of her, but no paperwork from undergraduate U.

Nice deflection. Why didn’t you post NY and CA deaths? Democrats own COVID deaths. This isn’t about a virus. It’s about tearing down America and pin it on Trump. Most Americans aren’t that dumb. Americans know the Democrats have destroyed the best economy in our history. They have blood on their hands.

Because PB was insisting that over 90% of the deaths came from D led states, which is false. I was responding directly to that. And Trump bears more responsibility due to his incompetence and inaction than any other single person.

This is nothing story, generated by faux outrage. Still waiting to hear from Eric and Lara. Let me ask you YA: does Trump have your vote? Do you think his presidency has been good for the country, for the rule of law, for the public trust, for our relations with other countries, for emergency response readiness? He's going to win the day, and steal the Negative No. 1 spot from James Buchanan.

He apologized because it was a dumb thing to say. Might be nice if a certain other politician would apologize from time to time.

Plus he misread what Charlemagne tha God (why was Joe even on his show?) was saying. He wasn’t saying he needed more time with Joe to decide whom to vote for. He simply was saying he wanted to ask him more questions.

I assume all concerned knew how much time had been budgeted for the interview. Sounds like CtG wanted to run over and was unhappy Joe was saying time’s up. A little bit of snippiness on both sides.

And you wonder why Dems want Joe to stay in his basement? :lol:

Pretty rich that supporters of a guy whose campaign slogan is Make America White Again would criticize Joe for this.

I saw this on the NYT's, so I figured it had to be new worthy, no? They are the premier print that everyone hear says is gospel.

Certainly going to be a tough decision but there is no way in hell I can vote for Joe. I would rather see Trump win and accept defeat in the Senate and House.

Sorry, I work in the field everyday, I am in hospitals, govt' buildings, hospitality, data centers, think-tank buildings, in cleared spaces, industrial and manufacturing plants. I see with my own eyes the dysfunction throughout. I see data centers that have 2 and 3 backup generator plans for power outages...fall on their face. I believe those that sit behind a desk and gather their intel from news clipping, periodicals, and word of mouth.....are missing a significant part of the picture...an actual understanding of all the moving parts. Which is why if things get into the legal the world...I would ask a lot more questions of the likes of you o njbill, rather than make more assumptions.

Regrading CV-19. The jury is still out with me on this mess, certainly with many others. I do not like how this all transpired and tuned into an exercise that challenged our rights. I am also not a fan of the data we are being fed, I believe it needs much more evaluation and parsing. No, I am not implying it was not serious, highly transmittable yes, but the 'real' data does not seem fully clear yet.

Would love to chat more, but have to run....Have a great Weekend seacoster!

“Poor kids are just as bright & talented as white kids”

“You ain’t black”

If Trump had said what Biden said today, every media talking head and Democrat on Fanlax wouldn't be able to breathe for a week.

Talk about much ado about nothing. :roll: Yup, that 5% of African American voters who may vote for Trump could be offended, very unlikely that other black voters would be. They know darn well what Biden was saying.

But ohh boy the right wing outrage machine is sure offended, bunch of snowflakes that they are...
Your constant defense of anything done by the left has turned into much ado about noting. If it no big deal.....why did Biden apologize?
really? It's not obvious that he bumbled the expression of what he was saying?

Unlike some folks, Biden doesn't think it's a show of weakness to apologize.

Of course, some folks think a manly man should never admit he said something incorrectly, much less say he was 'sorry'. :roll:

BTW, I don't think Biden is "the left"...he's a moderate progressive, not some leftist wing nut.
Do I prefer moderate conservatives over right wing wing nuts? You betcha.
Same for the other side.
