If Navy pulls this off on the road against a very angry and hungry Army squad, my belief in their potential will go to another level!

Army is giving navy +4.5 goals with o/u 22.5. That's a really hard decision to make, b/c this game is always a game within a game. It's usually a bit closer.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 1:35 pm If Navy pulls this off on the road against a very angry and hungry Army squad, my belief in their potential will go to another level!
Side by side they are not too far off from one another. Edge to Army on F/O, Edge to Navy at Goalie, Edge to Army for assist, Edge to Navy for scoring Defense.
If penalties are not factor, Navy needs transition/unsettled goals to win. If it turns in to a good ole fashioned PL battle I think Army gets the win. I have some concerns about our SSDM's getting lost in the wash of Army's offense, we just do not see their style of play enough and our team does not execute this style....unless we have been doing under the darkness of night .
Looking forward to the game.....would love to be there, but not making the trek.

4.5 is a lot of goals for Army-Navy. I say we cover.
Army defense isn’t as good as last year.

Army attacking our 2 slide
- Army #1 SSDM flying like Superman to blocks 28’s shot a great play. Selling out but not in the stats
- 67 throws it away after f/o then comes back and gets used on a pick from behind.
- we never slid on Army dodge from behind for goal 6.
- we rotated on #10 faceoff goal leaving him a lane down the middle. Would need a better angle to see how our poles were set up.
- nice job by 14 Navy on EMO sitting far side and working to ball across the middle behind inside defenseman.
- 6 coming up big for Navy. Reminiscent of Jack Ray attacking from behind.
- great 5v3 stop by navy at 9:30 mark of 3rd
- stunning stop by Daly on the 1v1 at 3:40 mark of 3rd
- 43 with the human spin cycle to tie it up at 7’s in 4th

#10 seems open a LOT @ crease/gle while the high difficulty and circus shots seem to be the focus.

- 6 with a diving goal, but appears to be right foot on crease line.youthathletics wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:22 pm Army attacking our 2 slide

- shot too soon on that EMO
- we seem to like being offside. Have given army too many extra possessions. And just like that 41 scores off a couple rollbacks on SSSM.
- navy SSDM gives Army attack too much room to operate from behind as they climb upfield on goal 10
- goal 11 and 12 are daggers being down 5 now with 3:30 remaining
- 6 Navy going down swinging with his 4th. 2:47 remains
- Byrne with a masterful save on the doorstep.
- 24 searching and searching while clock ticks away for the perfect play.
- Army playing The Final Countdown with .35 seconds.
- Army shoots after a double team with Daly out of cage to take away and scores 13-8 29 secs remain
- It’s over. 13-8 Army.
- Vegas odds, Army gives Navy 4.5 and O/U is 22.5.
- Up to the Women now.

Shooting has been such an Achilles heel these last few years. Tip of the cap to Daly. He was excellent today. Nice to see Jarosz back to his form from last year. Patriot League is crazy, everything still in front of us.
Just a bummer to drop the N star again.

Loyola shredding us after after dodging our SSSM’s we are sliding so early, the when Loyola spins the ball and resolves we double again.
Final offensive possession of 1st:
43 with sidearm shot right in front of cage, then
28 has so much whip in his stick he practically hits his feet on the next shot with time and room.
Ugh. 24 seconds into a 6v4 man down. And we stretch out of shape off the end line restart.

Re: Navy 2024
Coach Cottle is slowly changing the culture in the locker room. Players are being given a chance , imagine that.
Big Win at HOP, Colgate, BU.....Congrats ...
6 is rolling , just give him the ball.
24 is so overrated , announcers are ridiculous ...he's the best players on the field, so special, it's 24 time.....etc..
Amplo's Mikey Powell comment and 100 point season is such a joke.. 14 is a better team player
to many mistakes, lack of skills, more selfish play , lack of situational awareness and lack of adjustments
51 clutch goal
3 hammer from the wing
6 all out baller
8 - back door goal, ball watching, turnovers , lack of situational awareness , disappointing performance
11- played like a freshman
20- warrior at the X
28 - could get started with his shooting
9- non-existent
43 - ?

Re: Navy 2024
I’m pretty sure Haley got hurt early in the first quarter and didn’t return, which would explain him being non existent. Maybe he didn’t even play at all because of injury. I can’t remember.TheGoat1999 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 9:44 pm Coach Cottle is slowly changing the culture in the locker room. Players are being given a chance , imagine that.

Tough to lose this one. Looks like we will be playing in the quarterfinal game again this year. A little worried that this year is supposed to be the year. We are losing a ton of our key contributors and best players next year. And we just sit at 7-6. Fingers crossed we can win 3 games in 6 days for PL tourney.
Re: Navy 2024
By my tally, we'll graduate 9, but return 20 "regulars", with significant competitive game experience.
BU, Loyola, Army & Lehigh all have key 5th yr covid players who will be gone next yr.
Re: Navy 2024
I feel the 9 guys we lose are much more significant than the 20 regulars.
On a separate note - can anyone decipher what needs to shake out for Patriot League seeding?

Or here, towards bottom of thread it explains the seeding when there are ties --> https://patriotleague.org/standings.aspx?standings=2184
Looks like the same thing will happen that is on the regular, we have to travel, we get no bye, no home field, and will likely face Lehigh round one.
