Very inconsequential list but a final Tewaarton watch list came out, which is huge, but included both Holden and Jason Knox. Knox's company amongst underclassmen is pretty rare company.

Because of the virus and having some slack in my capacity, I looked at the breakdown of scoring by class. Only 5 games so hard to say if it would've been similar extrapolated out (think Madonna for one would've finished stronger as he was nicked up and missed two games to start), but have to be impressed with the scoring distribution by class. Career mix looks more skewed, but the math skews it a bit by using only 1/3 - 3 & 1/3 seasons towards more senior players. Just assuming regular returning and graduating people, we still return a lot, 70%+ of last season's scoring. Maybe an aberration but interesting that the FR class had a high % of g/a as did the Jr class but the Soph and Sr class much lower. Using 5 games contributes to this again.

Obviously we lose a lot on the back side of the field including Mueller, Delpha, Luccesi, Hurley, etc. but we are going to return a lot of offense Just a bummer we lost a year where we had two special seniors who could've finished out strong careers as well as seeing what Knox, Archer, Herlihy, Madonna and Mott would've done in the NEC playoffs and ideally beyond.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some seniors back. Entering the portal just keeps options open. I would say that we probably will not see seniors back who do not enter the portal. I think that means they are planning to graduate and move on.

I'd love to see them have one more opportunity with this team, just have to assume given full cost and only a MAT to offer post grad that all or most will be gone. I mean if the guys who are in the portal were to come back we'd be pretty deep next year....

Another useless data set, took the top handful of D1 goal scorers and the top current roster career goal scorers. Knox has less than half the rest (except Archer) in games, but is ahead of all on a goals/game career. Aslanian played in a ton of games, 63, most the rest have had careers of 50-52 games (given we had around 10 left that's roughly 20% of a career).

Goals/game and games played

Archer Games

Holden
1.90 51

Madonna

Oh man, I forgot to hit submit and lost what I had written... Anyway, without blowing your cover, do you have any inside information on this? I know that it’s possible to come back for an extra year because both Alex Love and Derek Akner (as I recall) did it. I do not believe that they were enrolled in the fall of that extra year, so maybe they just delayed their graduations? Anyone with exact knowledge of the situation please chime in. It would be great to see even one of the seniors come back.

Just forgot. Our lack of scholarships might actually benefit the program in this mess as those getting an extra year would not complicate the distribution of scholarship money with incoming players.

Heard coach welcome a new addition to the family. What a week for it! Heard all were well. Hope that keeps him in Geneva. No poachers from JHU.
Was walking around today an it felt like a perfect day for a game. Sad to see the Boz empty.... Dana's has a for sale sign out in front. If the world was right side up, we'd be talking NEC tournament. Hopefully next year...

Congrats .Saw the beautiful pic. Think JHU is bringing Petro back,. Bigger worries on AD table than the winningest coach in their history.

Nope, Petro and JHU have "mutually decided to part ways".

Have to think Raymond will be a candidate.

Raymond has got to be a top candidate although I’m sure their are bigger name guys that would love to coach on Homewood

I agree that coach Raymond will be a top candidate. Much as I would hate to see him go, he would be crazy not to go for such a position. He’s done a ton for the Hobart program.

Obviously Coach Raymond is a top candidate for the JHU job. I'd hate to see him go. He has matured as a HC and has really got the team going. Hopefully our new AD will not let him go without a "fight".

Just grab the new child and safely keep in at the field house kind of like in Labyrinth.

As someone who attended Hobart during the glory years, thanks for posting manyhats. Loved the "goal time" chants that were started with Darkie, I think. Was great watching the Hobart defense maul teams(Arkison, Whelan, Zych, Clark, Ednie, etc) and the Grimaldi & VanArsdale bros. The '85 & ''86 teams were fun as well, with Gilliam becoming a superstar and the prolific scoring midfield of Bergan, Guy & Moore. Of course Rosa was a dominating force at the X(and goal scorer) along with Tiny Crawford. Chuck Warren replaced the irreplaceable Guy Van and help the team to 3 more titles.

The 2020 Hobart team was built in the mold of the 1980"s: run and gun, big bodies(seems like BJ & Kerwick always had little guys on the team?) that would harass you as soon as the whistle blew. Would have loved to see them in the playoffs this year. Let's hope Coach Raymond sticks around, although he's gotta be one of the top 2 candidates for Hopkins right now.

JHU administration was unhappy with Petro for several years perhaps that will have them avoid Petro disciples like Raymond, Nadelin, Marr ...
Plenty of other good candidates out there DeLuca, Cheomotti, even within the NEC Taylor Wray ?
Wray has accomplished quite a bit at Joes over a similar time frame?

Greg will be on the list as he belongs in the conversation of top young coaches in the game. In a weird way we want our coaches to continually be in the discussion that means the team is doing well. Kind of like Butler basketball. Coaches win and move on to bigger things like NBA or power conference teams with the full $$. Hopefully he stays put with a William Smith wife from Waterloo, and his own family in Corning but who could blame him for returning to his alma mater. I think his assistants at Hobart are a good group too and he might take one or two with him if he goes.

Having said that, there aren't too many people who would turn that job down. You have Pressler at Bryant who is loyal to them, Danowski probably wouldn't leave Duke, Lars Tiffany probably wouldn't do much more than interview to keep Virginia on their toes, Tierney won't leave Denver where his son lives and he is nearing the end of his career I would guess. After that I would think that Nadelon at Towson and Andy Shay at Yale are the top two candidates. Tambroni at Penn State is the best coach in the game IMO and he would be on my list. Then Greg is probably next in line. Not sure how important an alum is for JHU.

I am worried about Greg going to JHU of course, but the real issue might end up being the carousel. If Shay goes from Yale, then that job opens up. Or Tambro's job is open. I think Greg is on the list for those jobs.

And leave Wegmans
wasn't that Alec Baldwins mothers reason for staying in Syracuse and not moving to LA

Despite NYS high taxes I would think the Raymonds have pretty good life in Geneva NY, along with having roots in Finger Lakes area. Isn't Desko in his approaching mid 60's ?

Alec Baldwin? They're LI people as far as I know. Did you mean Richard Gere? He's a Cuse native (Cicero).

Think JD is 66. If he continues to do well and wants the job someday, maybe Pat March will be Orange HC.
