The new survey duplicates the Washington Post’s 2016 poll finding that 90 percent of Natives are not offended by the Redskins’ nickname.
This is exactly what I experience when I've asked the people on the Rez about it.
Don't listen to me though.

You had me persuaded until you told me he went to syracuse. Now if he had gone to Hobart...:).
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

We could give him an honorary degree. Nothing like a good heel turn.

Violence in NYC soaring:

Great job, Dems!

Also, person puts cop in stranglehold and doesn't get charged!

He's correct: if you can't remove the Democrats (and I don't think you can), you should leave.

Excellent work, Dems! Trying to re-elect Trump.

It’s been quite a while since Syracuse dropped Orangemen for Orange. What was the impetus for the name change? Was there any pressure from the Onondaga community or something else?

Had nothing to do with anything other than "men".
Was suddenly viewed as not including "women", hence, Syracuse Orange.

there it is... i agree with dmac.

snyder's sponsors applied the pressure, probably threatened to pull the plug. how many of them are native? (a sixteenth doesnt count here right!)

i know a savior complex when i see it. :D
A lot of Native Americans find the Washington NFL team’s name offensive.

If you can’t even understand that, then you are disregarding the Native Americans who are offended by that racial slur.

Stop making this all about you.

As this thread has shown, the lacrosse community continues to earn its deplorable reputation on race and diversity issues.

DocBarrister :?
hey doc- i agree, some think (many think) it's offensive.

but then the penn quakers gotta go too.
Can I still watch this?

I don’t know anyone that has argued that what you have said about the people you know isn’t true.

BTW: https://www.ibtimes.com/redskins-contro ... 5208?amp=1

“We wouldn’t agree to any kind of personification of Native American people as a mascot for any sport,” Oren Lyons, a Native American Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Seneca Nation of the Iroquois Confederacy and a member of the Onondaga Council of Chiefs in New York, told IBTimes. “You just can’t put people in the same category as animals.”

The AAFC Bills franchise was named after the Buffalo Bills, a popular barbershop quartet, whose name was a play on the name of the famed Wild West showman Buffalo Bill Cody.
"Buffalo" Bill Cody, who was hired to kill bison, slaughtered more than 4,000 bison in two years.

Think I've come up with a good new name for the Redskins which eliminates any connotations or disrespect to to Indians.
The SAVAGES, the white man can speak for himself with this one.

No, but what you do want to tell me is that these people's indifference, maybe even pride, to the name is wrong and they need to be educated by the white man as to why, and when the results of surveys don't fit their agenda you change the wording, manipulate it, so to speak, so as to ensure it does. See the survey results from the link I posted from the people themselves. That's all I need to know, and again that's exactly what I've experienced. White man will straighten that all out though.
JFTR, I don't give a damn about the football team or what they call themselves.

The Braves mentioned that they are not considering a name change but are having discussions regarding eliminating the chop. We will see where it goes.

One of my all-time favorite nicknames is that of a high school in eastern Oklahoma - in the middle of OK rez country. Their high school name? --- the SAVAGES!

Politically correct? nope. But I have to assume that the folks there like it, or it would have changed a long time ago.

But what a great name - would be even better if they had a lacrosse team....

Interesting one.... can change mascot and keep logo. Tecumseh High School. A state university went from Savages to Savage Storm.

What is troubling, therefore, is how so many more than this % have adopted suppression of empathy as a partisan matter under the guise of rejecting "Political Correctness".
I think psychologists are describing psychopaths, sociopaths, and people with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. i.e. People who have literally zero empathy. there are plenty of people who have some empathy who don't fall into this category who "lack empathy". As for your second comment, agreed. Beyond words to me.
Agreed, some on are on a spectrum of 'lack of empathy'...it's discouraging how many this actually appears to be.
