That's the great thing about all of these streaming services: You can add them and drop them on a dime.

I re-upped my ESPN+ subscription this past Saturday morning. I imagine I'll cancel it the day after Cornell wins the NC in early summer. More than worth it in my book.

Gobigred wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:00 am No, the other semi was Hopkins-Delaware. The latter upset Virginia to advance and featured a great faceoff guy who'd win quickly and race to the goal, setting up an easy score. Pietramala negated him by having his faceoff guy jump the gun, giving Delaware the ball but in a settled situation that could be defended better. Result: an easy 8-3 Hop win...and a subsequent rules change penalizing a team after too many faceoff violations in a half.
Petro also had his team play at a snail's pace. It was a very hot day, and while Cornell-Duke was an all-out everything-left-on-the-field war, Hop cruised to an easy win over the just-happy-to-be-here Hens, and then was able to eke out a win over the exhausted (but way better) Devils in the final.

The seeding fiasco led to the NCAA changing the selection criteria in 2009. It's been much better ever since (though of course no selection system can be free of controversy).

It was indeed a very hot and very humid day - both in the 90's. The exactly optimal for lax.
The first game was an absolute snoozer.
I've referenced in previous posts Quint K's great one liner, about 50 seconds into the Cornell-Duke game, "there's already been more action in this game than in the entire first game." His comment followed Max S being crush by two converging Duke defenders while trying to clear the ball along the sideline from his defensive zone. He subsequently came out of the game briefly , but I have to believe he played the rest of the way while concussed.

From the game notes and IL's calendar, it looks like the Denver streaming service is the only way to watch the game. I wonder if there are alternative was to watch it. The streaming service is 8.95 a month. I guess that it's possible to sign up and cancel after the game.

Between Denver's home field advantage, Denver's altitude, and the Pioneers' added two games of experience, this will not be an easy test for the Cornell. Massey puts the game at 50/50 chance of victory for each team, with a slight advantage for Cornell.

Weather on the day is predicted as approximately 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Best of luck to the Big Red!
Yes, Big Red (1-0) will have hands full at #5/7 Denver (3-0) today. Pioneers goalie was Big East Defensive Player of the Week and face off guy was Specialist of the Week. Attackman JJ Silstrop put up 6 goals in win vs Hopkins. But can Denver stop Kirst, Long, Firth and Caddigan?

Go Big Red!

They could make it hard on the back end, but on the account page there is a prominent "cancel" button.

ESPN+ has its issues, but at least you get access to a lot of content. This fee gets you a month of Denver lax and gymnastics and that's it. So, don't go looking for any hockey games.

That sucks. Don't think I'll be ponying up for the service, just on principle.

I just wish there were audio available somewhere.

Do we need a whistle on every face off?

I'm listening on DU radio,

Bill Tierney is the color man, which really, he has tended to do a solid job there,

I've gotten the Pioneers All-Access in the past for when Yale plays Denver (and I'm getting again for a month to watch this game and early March Yale vs. Denver game) and it was very easy to cancel the subscription. The camera work is okay not great. (But at least not like some of those awful Big 10 live streams from outer space.). And I'm already incensed -- it's 2 to 1 Denver and on the Cornell goal, Wirtheim shot, ran about four more steps, and was knocked to the ground by a Denver guy with a VERY late hit right in front of a ref. The hit itself would have probably been okay if not so late but it had that "hit on a defenseless receiver" feel to it.

Psyllos taking all faceoffs. 3-3 after 1.

Is Cascadden injured? He hasn’t seen the field since the second face off. Or was that Petrakis taking the first two?

Great little sequence for Psyllos where he was beaten on the clamp but forced the turnover by Stathakis and the Kirst scored on the ensuing possession to make it 6-4. Big Red not conceding the faceoffs even though Stathakis is one of the better FOGOs around.

Someone on elynah posted that Cascadden didn’t make the trip. Anybody know why?

Why isn't Jack Cascadden playing? He didn't make the trip? Upset of the day so far: Tierney hasn't been bleeped yet!

Like Cascadden, Tierney didn't make the trip either. He retired at the end of the 2023 season.
