A special grand jury investigating former President Donald J. Trump and his allies for possible election interference in Georgia after the 2020 contest has concluded its work, according to Judge Robert McBurney of the Superior Court of Fulton County, who oversaw the grand jury. But it is not yet clear if criminal charges will be brought.

A report written by the jury was reviewed by the 20 judges on the court in Fulton County, which encompasses most of Atlanta. The report has not been publicly released, so it is not clear what the grand jury recommended. Its work began last May.

“The court thanks the grand jurors for their dedication, professionalism and significant commitment of time and attention to this important matter,” Judge McBurney wrote in his order.

A hearing will be held on Jan. 24 to determine whether the report will be made public, as the grand jury is recommending, according to the judge’s order. Any criminal charges would have to be sought from one of the regular grand juries that consider criminal matters in the county.

The office of Fani T. Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, has informed nearly 20 people that they may face criminal charges as a result of the investigation. They include Rudolph W. Giuliani, Mr. Trump’s former lawyer, and David Shafer, the chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. It is not yet clear if Mr. Trump himself is a target of the investigation.

Ms. Willis is weighing potential conspiracy and racketeering charges, among a number of others, as part of the sprawling investigation into efforts by Mr. Trump and his allies to overturn President Biden’s victory in Georgia in 2020. Among the episodes she has examined is the phone call that Mr. Trump made on Jan. 2, 2021, to Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state, imploring him to “find” nearly 12,000 votes, or enough to reverse the outcome of the presidential election in Georgia.

An alternate slate of fake presidential electors that emerged in Georgia after the 2020 election has also been a subject of intense scrutiny. Each of those electors has been told they are a target who could face charges.

Just marvelous.
Yeah, terrific:

"According to court documents, the trio spent just under an hour milling about the Capitol, including the Rotunda, where they put "a red MAGA hat on one of the statues to take photos with it."

In a chat with another Instagram user in the weeks after the siege, the court records say Coomer told an unidentified person "that everything in this country is corrupt. We honestly need a fresh restart. I'm waiting for the boogaloo." When the other person asked what a "boogaloo" was, Coomer said "Civil war 2."

The Boogaloo movement is broadly anti-government in nature but favors violence with the use of the term "boogaloo" typically slang for a future race war. However, some experts, like the Anti-Defamation League, have noted that "most boogalooers are not white supremacists, though one can find white supremacists within the movement."

Sounds like you just don’t understand the military and civil service at all. We should wait for all the facts, ensure this isn’t easy to dismiss “process crimes”, defer to only former service members and otherwise just leave these men be!

I'm confident that most who take these oaths actually take them very seriously.

Some are delusional. Some are dishonorable. Military service, taking an oath to "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic" etc, is certainly no guarantee.

It's all the more disappointing.

“I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So, help me God.”

Payback is a b*tch. What an a-hole - no surprise the jury deliberated for a very short time before throwing the book at him.

JUST IN: All four Oath Keeper defendants — Ed Vallejo, Roberto Minuta, Joseph Hackett and David Moerschel — have been found *guilty* of seditious conspiracy.

So much for "this is a nothing burger". Guilty of "seditious conspiracy". Yow. That's some serious sham on that family. Good luck explaining that one to the grandkids. Looks like at least Barnett has FINALLY figured out that he was played by Trump, the Republicans, and right wing media.

Kudos to him for figuring it out. Few do.

Hard to avoid a guilty verdict in a town that went 90% plus for the guy they tried to stop from being sworn in. No wonder the DOJ has such a high win rate. Wonder what the verdict might have been in Polk County, FL or Enid, OK?

Remember when some of our fellow posters claimed it was just a 'tourist' visit, just an expression of First Amendment rights?

Remember when some claimed it couldn't be that serious if no one was charged with sedition or conspiracy?

Remember when those some posters claimed no one would get convicted of seditious conspiracy, if charged?

Now they just resort to claiming the convictions were because of venue, not the overwhelming evidence of the crimes.

SAD.
Anti-American.

That's a long way to seditious conspiracy, my friend. Trespassing, probably. With the DOJ involved, justice is not blind, and if you don't believe that, then with all due respect, you are blind,

This same DoJ got plenty of of convictions on the Antifa wankers who damage Fed property over the summer of '20.....and remember the idiots in NYC who threw a molotov cocktail at a cop car? Guilty, serving their sentences.

Are you telling me that if that trial was held in Enid, OK instead of NYC....the good people of Enid would have let those molotov folks skate.... on the idea that the DoJ is corrupt?
