So, I have to ask … is Joey Spallina having the best freshman season of any Orange player since Mike Powell?

More to the point … is Joey Spallina the best Orange freshman since Mike Powell?

if joel white or john galloway were on here, they might ask to have your posting priviledges be taken away.
Galloway still has my vote.

A freshman goalie who steps in and helps turn a 5-8 team to national champions is still pretty ridiculous.

2007 (Before Galloway)
GAA- 11.38
Sv%- 51.5
Clear%- 79.5

2008 (Galloway’s FR. Year)
GAA- 7.72
SV%- 53.4
Clear%- 84.1

You'd certainly be hard pressed to find a goalie with a better outlet pass. Some of those 50+ yard bombs where the middie/attackman didn't have to move their stick one inch were something to see.

I think some forget that Mike Powell had two of the best attackmen in the game to take the pressure off, in Coffman and Springer. But he earned that 1st team AA status as a freshman, imho. He just had a gear (or two) that no one else had.

If he keeps that pace up against next five opponents then yes.

Troll move, '69. Not an eye roll worthy comment, score went to 12-12 at the start of the 4th.
Had the crowd of 5,744 fired up, place was electric, particularly when compared to the maybe
1,500 you would've had at Homewood (1,200 for the Va game).

Ummmm, NAVY goalies -- Jarboe, for one, comes to mind, and the rest of them who were schooled by ??? (desole, I am a bit foggy at the moment and cannot remember the name of that Navy goalie coach).

Galloway's outlet passes were phenomenal, can you just leave it at that?

The last championship that Hopkins won without that "defensive coach" on the field, or on the sideline was 1985, when Ronnie freaking Reagan was President. Hey, I hadn't noticed since your new "better" coach has never made they NCAA playoffs.....you guys go DIII yet?

But I think it's awesome that you came over to the Syracuse to mock a former Hopkins player and coach........ a man who has done so much for your school, and their lacrosse program. Classy stuff.

Bet the Syracuse players have learned a ton from their "new defensive coach", thank you for asking.

Had lunch on Thursday with a guy thats has been attending college lacrosse games since the 1970s….said the Hopkins fan base is the worse. In my experience, I have to agree. Not all, but enough of them.

The Syracuse women's lacrosse team has been hit with a slew of ACL tears over the last three years playing in the Dome. I was wondering if the men's team has had a lot of ACL's as well. I think the women had 4 0r 5 this year alone.

Yes the women are undefeated and ranked #1 - but that does not answer the question about the men's team and ACL tears.

I don't think they release specific injury news about players, but the men's team has had a few knee injuries over the years. Riley Figurieas their top D recruit I believe is out with a knee injury. Griffin Cook was sidelined last year with a leg injury. Not sure how it compares to other teams. Gait has made a big deal about using tracking technology that in theory should keep injuries down.
