I agree with the overall point, but...St. Mary's isn't even close to being a T25 team.

I forgot to congratulate Salisbury and their fans for a remarkable 2023 season.

What am I missing?

What merit(s) did you all base your SMCM rankings on? 1 close loss?

I based my top 20 off of tournament play, and they looked very solid against Middlebury

I would do something similar to this. I didn’t get a chance to do a final ranking. But mine would break the teams into groups. SMCM was in the final 32 teams. They played a team most ranked in the top 10, to the final mins. So logic would suggest this team is somewhere between 10-32 (not far off top 25).

Some other second round losses that I would rank below SMCM

Emmanuel
Western Conn
Kenyon
John Carroll
Scranton
Hope
Centre
Geneseo
Colorado college

So that would put them in the 16-25 range.

Teams that didn’t make the tournament would not be in my top 20.

Imagine how good they would have been if they had been able to come up with a 5th year program of study for Jude Brown ...

I'd like to participate if you are doing this again! I always feel like the forum poll is more accurate than any other poll.

Motion to have it in a “permission only thread.” Posting only allowed by people with polls of their own. Seen it done in other forums, seems simple enough. Far too many people on here with “no time to make a poll of their own,” but all the time in the world to pick apart those of others.

Have some skin in the game, or sit down and shut up is my opinion.

Interesting idea. Poll-ers can post within the thread. All others can read? Keep in mind, the readers may post their thoughts within a different thread.

I like this idea, but wonder if the policy would incent a bunch of silly polls submitted by posters whose only purpose here is to antagonize other people (an activity that seems to be dramatically on the rise). Probably worth the risk.

I don't mind non-participants offering their take.

Their take would be a poll, being a biased contrarian isn’t a take. Page after page every week of people dying on the hill of why you “should’ve flipped your #12 and #14” is absolutely exhausting. Especially coming from those who won’t even put their name to a poll for fear of the same treatment. No thanks.

We should do a preseason poll before the weekend. Of where we all think the top 20 teams will be after the season ends.

I prefer to keep it the same way as last year. Don't be concerned about what others think or write. Plus it gives you the chance at a good reply if your overlooked choice ends up being the surprise of 2024.

The whole point of the forum platform is to invite discussion and critique.

I agree with you MVP. I was responding to the comment about not letting people make a comment if they didn't fill out a poll. Some people may not have the time to complete the poll or put some effort into it. I think it should be open for comments, as you say that is the point of a forum. As we know some posts will be complete nonsense, just disregard them.

Skipping this year. Too much travel to games, and my overly-complex process takes too much time. Plus, I think the last several polls last season were solid, so I will just keep track.
