 How the F does this fix the problem?

So instead of using the massive purchasing power of the Federal Government to say "what's your bid?", and allow open annual bidding on the Medicare/Medicaid insulin contract....instead, Trump decides taxpayers are simply going to foot the doggone bill for inflated prices?

Sweet. And of course, cut taxes to make sure we have to borrow every cent for the new program, making it even MORE expensive.

Agreed.

Here is another situation that the r's will ignore:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business ... taxpayers/

"To make progress, Gilead needed help from U.S. taxpayers. Lots of help. Three federal health agencies were deeply involved in remdesivir’s development every step of the way, providing tens of millions of dollars of government research support."

"Despite the heavy subsidies, federal agencies have not asserted patent rights to Gilead’s drug, potentially a blockbuster therapy worth billions of dollars. That means Gilead will have few constraints other than political pressure when it sets a price in coming weeks."

Don't tell PB...

During his campaign, "his promises got even bigger. "I am going to take care of everybody," he told 60 Minutes. "I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now."

Even after the election, Trump continued to insist that his plan was to offer patients a more generous deal than they were getting from the Affordable Care Act.''

Still waiting for that health care coverage tRUMP promised. Instead of coverage, all he has delivered is higher bills and more deaths:

Trump promised to pay for Covid care. But patients with long-term symptoms see huge bills.
Doctors are discovering life-threatening and costly long-term health effects ranging from kidney failure to heart and lung damage ... Cynthia Fisher, founder of the nonprofit Patient Rights Advocate, lambasted insurers and hospitals alike for the high medical bills she’s seen from Covid-19, noting that health plans have been making money throughout the pandemic, since most people put off going to their doctors but still are paying premiums.

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Take Away Tens of Millions of Americans’ Health Coverage

The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to strike down what remains of Obamacare after waves of Republican legal challenges to the Affordable Care Act, telling the court in a brief filed late Thursday that “the entire ACA must fall.” The move comes as hundreds of thousands of newly out-of-work Americans have used the Obama-era health care law to get coverage during the coronavirus pandemic. Dismantling the law, an obsession of Republican lawmakers for a full decade now, would leave more than 20 million people without health coverage. Despite having a decade to come up with an alternative to the law, and two years in control of the White House and both houses of Congress, Republicans have offered no viable alternative for how to make sure Americans can go to the doctor.

I see o d doing this as he tries to "prove" he did some of his 2016 campaign promises; but why do the gop let him!?!

They all were bluster, but never really wanted it gone; or at least they didm't want to debate and vote on it in any meaningful measure.

This is just raw unadulterated fodder against any r running in 2020...

How are they going to stop him?

Barr is in charge of this, and Barr is a trumpista fascist to the bone.

While tRUMP and his disciples are praising the status quo, the truth is that,

Of course, there is a solution to this Republican created mess:

We should be working to ensure healthcare coverage for everyone, not taking away people’s health insurance or access to basic health care like contraceptives. Instead of trying to dismantle health care protections during a pandemic, Congressional Democrats are fighting to strengthen the ACA through H.R. 1425, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act, which passed in the House on June 29, 2020 with some key additional positive amendments. This legislation would significantly increase the ACA’s affordability subsidies, negotiate for lower prescription drug prices, expand coverage, and strengthen protections for people with pre-existing conditions. It’s a step in the right direction, but we must go further.

The pandemic is exposing the true cost of our for-profit healthcare system. As a nation, we will only be healthy if everyone has access to healthcare.

That means fighting to achieve Medicare for All.

… with the death toll now over 150K, 6+ months into this, it is time to change the name of the virus from coronavirus in the US, to the Trump virus. He owns it now and no thinking individual can think Trump's behavior has not contributed to the death toll!

When a vaccine is ready, hopefully in early 2021, it will be called the Biden vaccine. The Biden vaccine will be used to eradicate the Trump virus which has caused the Trump depression. Biden’s 2021 economic numbers will be yuuuge as he brings the country out of the Trump depression.
