X will be the key. But I could be wrong. I'd like to write something meaningful here but it's all been said before. Practice and execute on Sunday. Seniors get to spend 7 more days together and Coach has enough time to tweak a thing or two - nothing dramatic.

I'm actually feeling very confident about this game. Just gotta go for 60 minutes. I know the Hounds will have left all they have on the field when the final whistle blows.

To be the best you need to play your best against the best. Hounds are up to it.
Wow, Peter Brown I think you took the words right out of our mouths. 😮 Totally agree on FO, seems Bailey figures them out one way or another, then watch out cause he can turn it on. I think the Hounds are in a “good place” right now, no pressure, having fun, and enjoying spending another week together. #7moredays !! Go Hounds 🍀

Many powerfully emotional post-game interviews after this weekend's Cuse/Loyola game.

First, the Cuse kids, Solomon notably, were absolutely gutted in their presser. Incredible program, incredible kids. Watch that video if you can. Explains all you need to know to understand why some of us feel that lacrosse is the pre-eminent sport when it comes to character building. You have to rely on your teammates so much in this sport. It's all well and good to have a Pat Spencer, but Pat alone will not win games...the whole team is involved. This sport makes us such better people.

Second, the Toomey on-field post game interview was powerful. Charley basically broke down, describing how badly his kids wanted this game (I'd break down too if I knew that Spencer was a senior ;) ). I said previously that we had not come from behind this year. To come from behind and deal Cuse a loss is something else. It shows the squad that nothing is impossible...just keep grinding away and get the GB's. The game turned on the GB battle in the second half. That was the game, right there and then.

Seven more days is a great hashtag. Use it every week right now cause that's all you're guaranteed.

8 minute mark, brutal. Curry and Rehfuss gutted.

If you don't cry, you have never stepped on a lacrosse field. Curry is the kid you want as a parent.

BTW, I can't find the Toomey on field interview. It was on ESPNU and captured on Twitter if anyone can locate it. Toomey just cried, saying how much his seniors wanted this game. very emotional, very powerful interview by Anish and Q.

Thanks! I will watch.

Not sure why YouTube never occurred to me. I go to every game, and have seen Spencer interviewed on the field countless times. I've wondered where that footage is shown, but never made the effort to search for it. Same goes for the post-game press conference conducted somewhere in the bowels of the RAC.

Loyola's YT channel used to put up post game press conferences, but not so much anymore. They had pre game interviews for really big games i.e against Hopkins, UVA.

Awesome. I still have the game on my DVR. Haven't had time to watch it yet because I spent too much time over the weekend watching the other 7 games. :D Hopefully i captured the Toomey interview.

I haven't figured out a good way to get content off of my DVR (FiOS) to share with others. (I guess that's the point of Digital Copyright Protection. ;) )

Loyola has nothing to lose on Sunday, they are expected to lose according to the lacrosse world. That is an advantage. Lots of pressure on Penn St.

Keys to victory:

FOGO: Salvio needs to be at least 50%. Will need a lot of help from the wings. Wing play has been a weakness from what i have seen
Middies: Must create and take the load off of Spencer and the attack.
Attack: Spencer must do what Spencer does -- that will open up Lindley and Olmstead
Offensively: Ball movement
Defense: Stover and the gang will have to play out of their a$$. Take Ament out of his game, make him uncomfortable and win the GB battle

All can be done, at points in the season the Loyola faithful has seen bits and pieces, just need to put it all together.

Tend to agree with you Laxbro... Wing play has to be there to help Savio. Our offense should click. Whether or not our defense can hold PSU is the biq ?? mark. Let's see what the Seniors can do...and put it all together like you said.

Greg Gurenlian with the message of the day for wings: "DON'T BRING TOO MANY DUDES TO THE PARTY!!!" This video is a great refresher course on how wings should position. Nothing and I mean nothing frustrates me more than when the two wings come in to 2 yards from the scrum. Stay back and move around. Mix up your direction, keep an eye on whether your guy is consistently losing the clamp, adjust. But for god's sake, do NOT run into the scrum and take yourself completely out of the equation.

I’m sure this is somewhere already but how does Pat Spencer qualify to play a year of basketball after four years of lacrosse?

You can’t play in the PL without an exception. Pretty sure he applied for one. If he didn’t get it I think he was goin to go somewhere else for his Master’s Degree and play there. If he got it he was going to stay. It works out because he was probably looking for a low mid major school anyway. Spencer is a Good b-ball player, but he wasn’t going to the ACC.

I may be incorrect here but you have five years to compete with a max 4 in any one sport. So that leaves one year...,

I haven't seen PS play hoops so don’t have any idea of his talent level. Kyle Harrison could have played D-1 hoops and was offered by a couple of schools. Off the chatter it seems PS could play at a solid program. Interesting to see how it develops

PS really is a baller. He played basketball in the Annapolis Summer League and more then held his own. That's a very good league full of tough players.

Too bad Spencer.
But that’s the nature of the game, someone loses.

What a player :!:

Pat Spencer... What a marvelous, magical, transcendental career. 380 Career points. 11 Points in his final career game

I really thought they had a chance after the first quarter. But PSU is a buzzsaw, an offensive juggernaut and an outright physically imposing team.

Congratulations to this 2019 team and to the seniors who had 4 fantastic years at Evergreen. Thank you for Toomey for giving us this amazing piece of Loyola history with this wonderful senior class in Spencer and Stover.

Team may look different last year, but i think they can experience success again

Lot of great memories for the Senior Class. Played their butts off. Penn State is simply an offensive juggernaut and flies around to the ball. Knew it would be an uphill battle and a perfect game would be needed to match PSU. And when they dominated at the X and came up with the 50/50 balls it was going to be tough going for the Hounds. A top 8 team for the 2nd year in a row. And Spencer did all he could - what a great player. And some great saves by Stover. Thanks for the memories guys...
