I have no knowledge on any of this, but There are no shoe contracts in lacrosse. Why would players enrolled at a prestigious school like Yale, voluntarily, want to transfer to one with a relatively pedestrian academic rep, unless one has academic issues? Most kids admitted to an Ivy realize the value of that degree or from a similarly regarded academic institution if desired. It’s ultimately about life after lacrosse.
You also don’t have any knowledge of school academic reps I guess. Bartolo literally transferred into RU from Penn last year. Cameron from UNC. Boswell from Bucknell. And not to mention, Rall came from Yale 2 years ago.
Well I actually looked up the schools’ academic reputations per the article below, and it looks like you are the one who doesn’t know anything about that…….Thanks for drawing attention to the actual facts.

You would have been better off just saying they graduated with their Ivy degrees and were using their last year like other posters did.

Nice pick up! They have a lot of holes to fill, so they may retain the crown of transfer U.

I have heard the same thing as well. If this trends continues it could hurt them recruiting HS players.

Kids in the program call it that. It's viewed as very much a positive.

Georgetown will field their best team because of it. Maryland just won a title because of it. It's the way of the world.

I agree with that. There is beating a dead horse. Than there is beating the horse that was beat to dust. That's where we are at this point with the portal talk.

And yet the NCAA wasn't smart enough to think thru how their rash decision affected the next 4-5 years of athletes with bloated rosters of 5th & 6th & 7th yr transfer athletes playing in front of 4 year athletes.

0:30 seconds of critical thinking would have lead them to realize that the fix was worse than the cause.

To me Rutgers’ success with the portal shows what an excellent coach Brecht is. It is not easy to meld a team out of that many guys playing their first year on the squad, but he’s done it. And he’s done it better than a Georgetown or a Notre Dame. Guys want to go to Rutgers and be a part of his program. That says alot.

There’s a theory in finance that has proven true quantitatively, and in practice, that pulling forward and retaining earnings when highly levered is better than smoothing those earnings out over a longer period.

As long as the capital is reinvested intelligently.

There’s a corollary here. Some will build long term benefits to their institutional position and others will flame out but we won’t know for 5-10yrs
