Bides is 24 I believe. Mullins and Kirst I think are both 23. So around 23.5 years of age.

The rule used to be (maybe still is) that you had five years from enrollment full time to play 4 seasons. With the pandemic, every player got an extra year. So it is conceivable for a kid who redshirted a season to take 6 years to play 4.

Charalambides is 25 and graduated high school 7 years ago in 2014. Not that it matters. I think Carc was just using hyperbole for comedic effect.

you can take multiple medical redshirts. 5 to play 4 can be extended that way.
he has taken 3 and is junior eligible. he was not (although not quoted i don't think) that this year will be his last.

Charlambides is 25. Mullins finished HS in 2014 and Kirst finished in 2015.

8-3 Maryland Q3
Penn State 7-6 at the half

In the NCAA Wrestling championship, B1G is dominating
Iowa well ahead heading into finals, Quint doing a good
job on the color commentary.

Maryland jousting for a one seed, Rutgers probably seeded 4-6 in the ncaa tournament and everyone else needing 3 wins in may to get an unseeded bid.

Anyone still think Penn State is a top 20 team? How about top 30?

Ament was the straw that stirred the drink. No doubt.

Good win for Michigan.

the NCAA Wrestling Title.

They just don't seem to have too many players who can run past defenders. The JHU people understand what happens when you have smaller midfielders, and PSU has the same exact issue.
Yes, PSU has real weaknesses, was way over-rated pre-season. Michigan's win today over PSU might take some of the shine off of Hop's recent win over the Nittany Lions. JHU lost today to a VERY GOOD Rutgers team; at the same time, the Jays haven't beat anyone very good either. With no OOC games, it might be hard to say just how good Maryland is, but if the Terps stay healthy I wouldn't bet against them come NCAA tourney time.

A lot of slick finishers and an all-time great lefty shooter who need someone to get them the ball. Malone isn't that guy. Neither is Foulds. They don't seem to have a dudes that can win one-on-one match-ups.

Penn State looked like they were transitioning last
year, to the post Ament era.
Unfortunately, some of the players they were counting on
did not show much, or enough anyway.
They’ll have to break in their last couple classes and
next year, that class as well, which the coaches seem
loathe to do.
It was pretty obvious they’d be hamstrung this year,
for anyone who cared to actually look (read: not IL).
They’ll be back, might take a year or two.

I've been impressed by Michigan the last 2 weeks. JHU is trending up too.

However, without any out of conference games it is a WAG how these teams match up with anyone. Maryland is very good. Probably in the top 3, maybe #1, but they will not move up to 2 until Duke or UNC play and one of them wins. Rutgers is really legit this year and at this point in the season deserve to be in the NCAA tournament.

Ranking PSU, Michigan, and JHU is largely based on guesses. I don't think PSU and Michigan deserve to be in the top 20 and will struggle to get back there.

Rutgers is very very good...Maryland is elite...

Rutgers would be a lock for the Tourney if is was picked today...the Big Ten is getter two teams, so it's Maryland for sure...and then Rutgers...but lots of season left...

Quint Kessenich with some very good color commentary,
humor and solid interviews,
covering the NCAA Wrestling (B1G) Championships.

If you’ve never seen Spencer Lee, he is something else,
dominated,
was wrestling on two bad ACLs,
the prototype of a Pennsylvania wrestler,

won the finals, a shutout, 7-0.

Iowa wins the team national title.

Big Ten will now allow fans at games this spring, based on local health guidelines. Effective immediately: https://bigten.org/news/2021/3/24/gener ... dance.aspx

Might there be fans (beyond parents) at games this weekend?
