i don’t think york is any different than other programs. most seem to have transfers coming and going and 5th years playing.Dehuntshigwa’es wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 11:45 am York after a 10-8 season w year ending loss to Eastern who was 8-11. One of the stranger years for a strong program. Childs hasn’t forgotten how to coach. I do wonder if the culture has been hampered by 5th years and transfers. I always sensed they recruited well and developed players. Hearing the possibility of additional transfers coming this year. You have to wonder how younger players are accepting of that fact. Hoping W&L gets the opportunity to play York again this coming season, always a good contest. I’m sure after Yorks win last year they’d never have imagined losing 8 and not making the tournament.

Re: York 2025
I’m disappointed to hear York is not attending the Mustang Classic this year, as it is always quite the spectacle. That said, they’ve regularly been able to schedule independent OOC games versus North powers like RIT and RPI, along with many of the more local teams typically involved in the Classic. They’ll likely have the South team they would’ve faced at the Classic on their regular schedule regardless, and I’m very much looking forward to the schedule drop to see where they allocate the remaining game.
As for transfers I really do think many folks commenting here, while clearly opinionated, just aren’t familiar with the program outside of the last 4-5 years. As I’ve previously stated, they have always taken transfers. I’m aware of 42 in the last 25 years, and I’m sure I’m missing a few here and there. The majority non-JUCO, and just one being a grad transfer.
By the year they rostered at York-
‘00 Scott Hermes- Stevenson (Villa Julie)
‘01 Ryan Wynne- Limestone
‘01 Pat Wynne- Limestone
‘01 Mike Connors- Limestone
‘02 Mike Gilbert- Lynchburg
‘03 Brian Leone- Mt St Mary’s/Harford CC
‘05 Brendan Hopkins- Washington College
‘05 Shawn Girch- Mt St Mary’s
‘06 Nick Carlson- UMBC
‘06 Steve Layer- Belmont Abbey
‘06 Dan Holoubek- Saint Andrews
‘06 Eric Wedemeyer- Anne Arundel CC
‘07 Bobby Miller- Stevenson
‘08 Brian O’Neill- Muhlenberg
‘08 Ross Novak- CCBC Essex
‘09 Russell Tutt- CCBC Essex
‘09 Patrick Coppinger- Howard CC
‘10 Travis Atwell- Anne Arundel CC
‘10 Kevin Topper- Howard CC
‘11 John Dubois- Towson
‘11 Jimmy Langton- Limestone
‘11 Jake Beneke- Guilford
‘11 Tyler Powell- CCBC Essex
‘11 Justin Gordon- CCBC Essex
‘12 Joey Bellavia- Florida Southern
‘12 Ryan Cassidy- Eastern
‘13 Chris Varela- NYIT
‘14 Zach Speghts- Hood
‘15 Dan Kaplan- Lynchburg/Howard CC
‘15 Jathan Mahaffey- Wesley
‘16 Isaiah Colemore- Alma
‘18 Tanner Gerace- Quinnipiac
‘18 Jacob Laubner- Harford CC
‘20 Chandler Schmidt- Harford CC
‘21 Gavin Dembeck-Jacksonville/Salisbury
‘21 Cole Witman- Tampa
‘22 Billy Briegel- Univ of Hartford
‘22 Dan Shea- Coast Guard
‘23 Tyler Palehonki- VMI
‘23 Aaron Rubeling- Howard CC
‘24 * Garrett Keough- Mary Washington
‘24 Terrance Harmon- Howard CC
The dynamics around incoming players aren’t the new phenomenon some have taken them to be. And despite last year’s end results, along with the new found publicity of transfers (both in and out), I think it’s clear that the trajectory, over 25 years of taking transfers, is headed in the right direction.

They do, and it features some players who were originally their NCAA commits. I’ve seen players go down to club from having been on the varsity team as well, I’d have to dig to see if any club players have come up to varsity…

Re: York 2025
Just saw in the Mustang Classic thread that York is not on the schedule for the 2025 event. It's early yet and not sure if that's actually legit info. Anyone hearing anything about it?

Re: York 2025
Stevenson put the schedule out on Social Media.York is out. Gettysburg is in. It's legit. My question is who decides who gets invited/makes the schedule? Were they not invited or did York decline the invite? York is the only team not in the classic from last year.

Those kids are having some fun right now, their first Friday night in college…. Ah, to be young again…
Alumni game scheduled for Friday October 4th. Looking to have boots on the ground at Kinsley for it, with a few friends of my vintage.

Any idea when fall ball starts? Any updates from captains practice. Any idea who is stepping into the leadership role?

Fall ball starts today, marked by the boys running their midnight mile last evening (early this AM) I believe. Captain’s practices have been underway for sometime, and I’m hearing the team has a good vibe coming into fall ball.
Looking forward to schedule drop soon, and very intrigued to finally hear the 19 new names, specifically the 6 transfers.

i was curious when the schedule comes out, so i was just scrolling though last years thread. wow. this time last year, this board was active. lots of negative posts about york. it’s quiet this year.

I’m aware that there is no way of knowing fully when you make a schedule, but I’m hoping that they’re not playing 7 teams that poll in the top 10 this season. It’s good to play tough competition, but within reason.Laxattackjack wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 7:31 amchanges? has anything about the scheduled been leaked besides the mustang classic? or do you mean changes from the past?

Re: York 2025
There were far fewer transfers this summer and they were pretty quickly replaced, on top of the fact that it has been a pretty quiet Summer/early fall so there is not much to talk about. Schedule may be the biggest issue and we have already seen a pretty big shake-up there. you can discuss how the transfers, especially the two E-Town, Cabrini and Towson kid, are developing and how much they can/will helpLaxattackjack wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 7:31 amchanges? has anything about the scheduled been leaked besides the mustang classic? or do you mean changes from the past?
