a fan wrote:If you believe this is true, then there's no difference between R's and D voters, no difference between FoxNation and Maddow. And no difference between Tucker and Ocascio.

If you were right, we wouldn't have even a little difficulty governing our nation. We'd agree on 99% of issues, outside of petty social nonsense issues.

In summary, you don't believe that.
Actually I DO believe there is very little difference between R and D voters on the things that matter. What differences there are get magnified by the parties and Fox and Maddow to suit their objectives and bank accounts.

Most every person I talk to has the same fundamental goals for our country - a decent job, decent schools, a decent home, and a decent future for their kids (if they have them). You can barely fit a piece of paper between the real differences, and yet our two party system is very good at cramming a wedge into that paper thin gap. One of the words at the tip of that metaphorical wedge has become the word "socialism". People don't even know what it means anymore (which was my point earlier), and they just react to it. If you could get to what people want (rather than what they have been programed to react to) the Venn Diagram would overlap a lot.

Where there are real differences is between good people and those who lack character. There aren't many of the former in politics.....

YA, this was in response, I guess, to TLD's posting an article concerning drug trafficking and movement at the border by Foreign Policy magazine. Do these emojis after the web page for staff biographies mean that you think they're a bunch of hacks? Biased?

Yes it was. More so biased. For one, they are owned and operated by the The Washington Post, and the piece is propping up the argument that the sole function of the wall is primarily to deter drugs and they attempt to use snippets from here and there along with a DEA report as their argument. You and I know full well, as do they, it is much more than drugs and that each political side is in complete agreement that the border has been a pain point for our entire country for decades.

Food for thought. We all would be livid if we had to hire another 1000 Border patrol police to park in marinas and small airports across the Southern borders to curtail the drug influx. What if the wall provides the ability to transfer many of those police officers elsewhere....much like automation has done to our labor force.

How about reducing demand.....you believe Trump and his clan are worried about drugs?

We are already and have been attempting to treat the demand, education is out there, our addiction centers and methadone clinics are damned near standing room only. And yet, we walk the razors edge by legalizing pot....I suppose that is reducing the demand "from the Southern Countries".

People like Chris Herren are doing their damnedest to educate our youth. This hits close to home I have seen it first hand with 3 family members, one died from it and it has torn the other families apart emotionally and financially.....all because of a $10 hit that completely alters your mind..forever. And every one of them started with weed. This should not be a political issue IMHO.

Lots of things shouldn’t be political but they are. Stephen Miller is concerned with those people and that is what is driving policy. It’s laughable. Spend more on reducing demand. Will have more tangible ancillary benefits. Most experts have stated that a wall is not the best use of resources.....why climate change is political is beyond me.

I do not believe we actually ever hear the real story from anyone in government, especially when money is their #1 focus and power is #2. Logic is not something to which they subscribe. Quite sickening.

I wonder how they'd treat termites in their own home, would they remove the demand by getting rid of all the wood, or would they build a barrier so termites can no longer infest their home. Termites are primarily subterraneal it takes work to prevent and kill them off.

What the F are you talking about with the "spics" comment?

btw....is the tiger wood price linear or board foot?

 And no, I'm not trying to get you to say I'm right about the tax bill. I knew I was right the day it was in it's final form! One of the rare instances where I KNOW I'm right. Heck, I can think of a few wagers off the top of my head that have not worked out.....unemployment rate is still lower than when Obama left. Two years to go. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. the TARP bailout..........went to folks in Wheeling , WV, Science Hill, KY and Broken Bow, Nebraska

I have no idea about the price of the Tiger Wood. What’s the price per linear foot for the wall? Build it to keep the drugs out. That’s Miller and Trump’s concern.

REDUCING demand ???!!!??? What are you talking about. The government has just realized that they can make a buck of dope and even the GOP is pro-legalization. How is that reducing demand?? The only demand the gov will want to reduce now, is demand for drugs they can't tax or receive campaign contributions from.

You're intentionally obscuring my point.

Take the Federal money away from the S&L crooks----and they can't buy a yacht. BFD.

Take the Federal money away from a family earning $25K for a family of four? They don't eat.

Yep, you and I agree, both those groups are on the Federal dole. I'm discussing what happens when you take that dole away.....

That is why I didn’t say the government is taking steps to reduce demand. I stated the government should focus on reducing demand? Some would argue that legalizing drugs / alcohol eliminates the criminal element and related crimes.... I am not making that argument.
