The lesson learned is that this gets social/cultural real quick and probably is better served in a separate section.

To anyone thinking of betting on lacrosse, consider this:

"Even the voiding of bets on obviously incorrect lines can be galling to customers. Danny Moses, one of the mortgage bond traders depicted in the book and movie “The Big Short,” recently had a $50 bet on the Baltimore Ravens to defeat the Detroit Lions in the Super Bowl — placed at generous 500-1 odds — voided by Hard Rock Bet. The company, he said, made no attempt to reach him to explain its decision.

“No one would ever get away with this on Wall Street,” he said. “If you meant to buy 100,000 shares instead of a million, guess what? You eat it. Why? Because it’s a regulated business, the SEC and [the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority] watch it, and you’re responsible for your own mistakes. If sports gambling wants to be a regulated business, operators have to own their mistakes.”

I call it what it is: welching.

I am completely ambivalent about gambling on lacrosse.

As a stiff necked yankee, I disapprove of gambling categorically. However, I support the right of all you degenerates to wager as you wish.

As a 'Grow the Game' lax enthusiast, I agree that anything that brings attention to the games played is a win, and I would love there to be enough money in play on a college lax game for players to be tempted to throw a point or two.

Side note:
I've been officiating for almost 20 years, and therefore have been accused of 'being a homer' or 'not calling it both ways' more than a few times.
As a matter of practice, it would be really hard -- even as part of an officiating team of just 2 or 3 -- to figure out what call(s) to make to tip the result at all with any degree of assurance. I suspect that it would be even harder for a player on a team of a couple of dozen contributors to sneak one through when it matters. Teammates know each other like brothers, and a guy with a gambling problem would be benched before he got into trouble.
Just my five cents

Gambling is good for lacrosse, in the sense that it could bring more eyeballs to the game. You can’t be a major sport without readily available gambling markets in the US

Of course it's a good thing. Does anybody really think that football (especially the NFL) would be as popular without gambling?

The only thing gambling is good for is filling the state tax department coffers with the 6% to 50% plus excise tax on bets and incentives.

Same with cannabis sales.

The Sin taxes for the win.

No. In any sports gambling affects results and destroys integrity
For gambling there's bingo, lotteries and casinos
