Not watching the game. But does Petro seem to do more talking and moving on the sidelines than Gait?

Million year-old petrified wood talks and moves more than Gary Gait on the sidelines. A great irony for one of the most dynamic lacrosse players in history.

By the way, this Vermont team can play. Faceoffs, defense, offense, goal … complete package.

Thomson has great vision and his feeds are right on the mark.

Prototypical Canadian player.

Heard from a mens player: Petro does all the talking, yelling, game planning, Gary kind of stands there - like the figurehead.

Noticed that as well. Last time out in particular.

Finlay Thomson,

there you go, the forgotten man in all this Spallina wearing #22 hype,
killed it over the summer in Ontario Jr A.

The truth is, I think Gary is purposely doing things like Roy Simmons Jr and John Desko(when his assistant) did. Desko was like Petro, and Simmons Jr. was the more placid one and the overseer of things.

I was confused on how that kid was only a 4* coming out

The Cuse has a star freshman and his number is almost 22. Both goalies played well. I actually thought Coach Gait looked more involved than last year. He was giving hand directions to the offense at one point.

Wasn’t Finn Thomson the #5 recruit?

Best SU offensive player on the field today.

Good defense, stellar goalie play, and flashes of offense won the game today for the Orange.

I thought Spallina was pushing things a bit too much today. He’ll settle in.

Thomson looked like a senior out there. Polished, flashy, and some amazing stick skills.

The Orange are going to be fun to watch for the next four years.

He did appear to check his watch during a huddle late in the fourth.

Not the most impressive opener to watch, very sloppy game , highlighted by excellent goaltending by both goalies. Marks made several critical saves, Cuse would have won four more games with him last year . Finn Thompson was the frosh that impressed. Spallina disappointed some , bull dodges not going to cut it against ACC teams. Needs to create for others. Hiltz easing way back in. Fogos battled outside a bad stretch. Clearing was poor, miss the speed of a few players from last year. Mid field looks slow, Birtwhistle had good game but his tools better suited for attack. Credit to Vermont goalie because Cuse despite its miscues could easily have been in double digits. Cuse defense was physical and appeared coordinated though Vermont l
clearly lacking on that end with top scorers gone. Cuse should start off year 3-0 before facing Maryland . This team reinforces view that they have enuff to beat second tier teams but not top ten . JHU and UNC games will make or break their season.

Bmuch today. He’ll settle in.

Thomson was a 4 and change rated recruit initially when he was
a Michigan recruit,
he moved up after the re-commit to Syracuse and also due to a
tremendous summer of box lacrosse where he scored 130-140 points — Thomson and Collison, the top two out of Edge Lacrosse club. I actually thought Collison was the better recruit but it may
be Thomson.

what does a "mens player" mean? this has been a consistent refrain in gait's short tenure.

not your fault, but rarely saw it on laxpower with simmons. and i never see it re: nadelen. and only rarely with regard to tierney. who clearly only argues with and yells at refs the entire game.

it's strange how it comes up with gait all the time.
