Meant that there is probably another highly skilled player on the current roster ready to step up.

Saw this earlier. Looks like Brunswick is playing Boys Latin in late March. The Bruins show absolutely no fear when it comes to scheduling mid-Atlantic powerhouses with only a few practices under their belt. https://twitter.com/BoysLatinLax/status ... 7994636288

Love It! I haven't seen brunswicks schedule or other schools like Deerfield, Bury, and Avon, but I would like to see those guys play more of these out of conference games.

Anyone know if the league is adopting the new college rules this year with the shot clock and so forth?

Wow. I hadn't seen that. Every year, Boy's HS Lacrosse gets better.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but in the years I have been following the league, they have always played the NCAA rules. I have never heard of any meetings or adaptations, they just use the same rule book as the college game.

From what I've heard, yes to the dive. No to the shot clock change.

Salisbury just released their 2019 schedule- aside from all of the NE West 1 teams- they play Georgetown Prep, Haverford, and Phillips Andover.
They scrimmage IMG, Darien, Ridgewood, Pingry, and U of Tampa.

Couldn't find their schedule on their website. Have any other teams released their schedules?

You are correct, They put off the shot clock for a year "due to financial constraints" on the schools. C'mon, give me a break.

I think that for many leagues and teams a high school shot clock would be a disaster. Plenty of teams have enough trouble getting into some offensive set while still catching and throwing that it would lead to countless desperation 30 yard shots as someone picks up a groundball with the clock of 0:02. Now, that obviously isn't the case in WEST-1 but I agree in this case to take a year and see how it works in college before rushing it in. The "cost" justification is of course laughable. This leagues' parents spend more on the raw bar for some tailgates than it would cost for a clock for the school.

PC! love it. Though I think you presume too much... how do you know that those very same tailgating parents didnt spend the previous few days working the pre-dawn hours to personally catch those shrimp, oysters and lobsters from the majestic LI sound?

Can't wait for the season. Too early opinion... if 'Bury doesnt run away with the title I'd be shocked. Too many awesome upperclassmen, too much depth, and maybe unlike some other years a lot of boys who've played together before at 'Bury. That's an uneducated guess though. Always seems to come down to the wire.

Any of you guys hearing rumors of a league re-org in the future?

Bad news from NE West I- the long awaited year end tournament dreams have come and gone. Apparently the powers that be couldn’t agree on the logistics. It’s probably not dead and one day we’ll have it.

 Welp, that is unfortunately less than shocking. I haven’t heard anything about a re-organizing. Until something changes my annual gripe that NMH and maybe even Kent need to go to West-2 remains in place.

Too bad the shotclock won’t be used. A lot of kids in the league obviously go on to play college lacrosse, would have been good for them to get a year of it before heading to college next year.

It sure looks like on paper Bury should run away with it. But I don’t think they will. I think that the coaching, culture, and chemistry that Brunswick and Deerfield have And will put on the field, will be very talented. I think we put too much emphasis on where a kid is committed too as to how good they are sometimes. Some of those players are overrated IMO. I think wick has bury at home this year, and that is always a tough game for the visiting team to win. Deerfield beat bury last year and Deerfield will only be better this year. I will predict that bury loses at least 1 of those games and maybe both. It will really depend on the lineups bury’s coach puts out there and if the coach can get the kids to come together.

I am also doing Taft and AOF a disservice, although I don’t think either one will win the league, I think they could make life difficult for anyone they play. I just don’t see enough talent all over the field for these two teams like I do the other three I mention above. Offensively, Bury probably has enough talent offensively that you could throw 10 different kids out there and not lose anything. their defense and FO will be the big question.

Wick and Deerfield seem very solid all over the field. So, since I suck at predictions, you can probably take everything I just said and count on the reverse happening. :-)

Anyone know which teams are doing spring break trips, and if they are who they are playing. Are those games usually scrimmages?
